Mitch did the keyboards in the backing track, His friend Austin filmed him and styled the video. Mitch wanted to do this cover because he really appreciated Billie's lyrics. He did think it was powerful enough to bring attention to it. This is my favorite version of this song. I appreciate Billie's, but Mitch's makes me feel more. I'm biased, though! Thank you for your appreciation of this song and Mitch!

Mitch did originally put this on his channel when it was titled Mitch Grassi but when he changed the channel name to messer he archived it along with his cover of Graveyard and put the messer songs up. He left your power on his Instagram so people could still see it. I believe that’s where the person who put it back on CZcams got it. Oh and never apologize for going back and listening. Mitch and ptx fans would listen to the whole thing again. In fact I’ve seen reactors do it quite a bit.
He said that he wanted to honor Billie. This is a stunner, I love Billie but Mitch is on another level This song slays me. Mitch’s voice is simply a once in a generation voice, it’s so clear and hauntingly beautiful
Mitch is on his own planet. Everyone in PTX is amazing, but Mitch's voice and Kevin's versatility are just so far beyond.

When Mitch released this video if you clicked on "show more" he explained that when he heard her sing the song it touched him deeply. He said she was so brave to share herself and her story like this. so vulnerable. He said he knew he needed to do it. These are not actual quotes because when he removed the song, his thoughts on the song were also gone. I'm simply giving what I can remember of what he said.

I could also listen to this again and again - except the lyrics make me feel sick. Shocking contrast of ethereal music and challenging lyrics. This is clearly one of my favourite Mitch pieces.

When Shawn Stockman commented (Sing Off) that Mitch had one of the prettiest voices he had ever heard, it was no lie! But “pretty” seems so inadequate. I said ethereal in another comment once but maybe … otherworldly?? Whatever, it goes right to your core
I like how one reactor put it in that mitch voice is like the sirens in mythology. Able to cast a spell by his song. There's no one who illicit emotion in the audience as mitch, an ability ptx has used many times. But it's fascinating watching reactors esp in a group when mitch picks up his part in a song. They at first startle then smile then melt.
As we know, this song was very personal to Billie. I believe Mitch wanted to shed more light on the message. Ethereal is the perfect word for this one. 💕
It’s such a beautiful but tragic song and Mitch nailed it. Thank you for reacting to it. Maybe Superfruit’s The Promise next? It was put out as a single and was their last recording together-although no- one knew it at the time.

I know I’ve said this before, but Mitch has an amazing ability. I enjoy listening to him. This performance touches your soul. Please, never apologize for going back. Messer fans and PTX fans can listen over and over. It also helps new fans appreciate what they are hearing.
This song was actually my introduction to Mitch's vo=oi, and it means more to me than I can express. The lines "You made me feel like it was my fault I was the devil" and the final, "How dare you? How could you?/Will you only feel bad when they find out?/If you could take it all back, would you?" kind of break me and heal me at the same time.. I can't imagine a singer who could convey better the senses of tenderness, empathy and rage.

Don’t hesitate to to relisten to anything… right there with you. I know, when he gets into that ethereal zone, it’s as if he’s singing into your ears and straight into your soul. This song is painfully beautiful. I’m so glad you chose this, even though it’s a little harder to find. Definite yes to more Mitch/Messer, loving Christmas in any season (PTX makes it so listen-able Any Time. Love all the Superfruit music, Hurry Up & The Promise, as well as Goodbye From Lonely are favs, but I love them all, honestly. Really enjoying going on this journey with you!

I think there is a very intentional reason for this to be their last song. It’s a promise to each other that although their personal paths are diverging they will always be there for each other.
I keep thinking about him singing "Everybody dance now" in the 90s Medley, and realizing that it's basically the same upper range. That is a spectacular stylistic range to have at those heights.
I would love to hear Billie and Mitch sing this as a duet. it would be EPIC! I would love to hear what Billie thinks of this version.

The recording of Your Power was healing for Mitch, in my thinking. He wrote Anchor. After hearing the song, it might have been
what he knew might be to come. Date written? Believe in 2017 timeframe. Anchor will always be one of the best .Your Power stands alone for his talent .

He had it up as a video on his YT channel for a while, but it was shortly before he released all the Roses EP stuff under the Messer name, and he cleared his few old 'Mitch' stuff off there before he released that.
He did keep it on his IG account though.
Yep mitch’s voice does that to so many of us…once you hear his tone you cannot never not hear it (if that makes sense🤣) it doesnt matter even if all of ptx are singing at the same time, my ear is just drawn to his voice.. there is something just magical. Superfruit originals like vacation, future friends or one goodbye from lonely or their cover of ‘the promise’ - which was the last song they posted🥲

I heard someone mention that the camera used was a slower frames per second (I don’t understand that kind of stuff), but we known that all of Mitch’s choices are deliberate.
I feel like they may have also used fewer pixels (maybe 720p instead of 4K or something) to make it look a bit retro. Austin and Mitch also did that with Messer's Angels Pray and Roses. In Angels Pray they may have also wanted it to be blurry for... reasons.

Beautiful isn't it? Whilst Billie Eilish' version is lovely, it's hard to make out the lyrics. This is one of the areas Mitch excels.

I fricken love Graveyard. I have it on two or three of my Spotify playlists, it's haunting and beautiful. If he didn't react to it soon, I was going to just make it my June react request :) And yes, I agree that Mitch enunciates like no other, I never have trouble hearing what he's singing.

I get and appreciate what you are saying about Mitch's tone. It draws you in. It's kind of like on The Prayer video, when Scott sings in Italian. I like Scott's voice but, OMG, his tone when singing in that lower register! He should sing in that register more often. I do love this cover by Mitch.

This song just soars. Mitch has such immense control over his voice; that's part of what stuns you. The added reverb just amps up the haunting quality of this song. Billie's version is the same way, though her voice is so ... fragile in this song it aches.
I still wonder why he changed the last line, though. In the original Billie Eilish version, that last line goes "You might not want to lose your power, but power isn't pain." And I think that line says something important. He changed one other line, but I can't remember where. Ah - just went and checked. Last verse Billie sings "Will you only feel bad if it turns out that they kill your contract. Would you?" and Mitch repeated the earlier verse of "Will you only feel bad if they find out. If they take it all back ... would you?"
The story behind the song is that it speaks of a teacher/student relationship, hence the reference to a contract. I guess Mitch's version is more generally age-related. It's still moving and meaningful, just aimed a little differently.
Billie's version brought me to tears... Mitch's version left me speechless and in awe. When I first discovered his cover, I listened to it on repeat for days.
His voice is like no other and I could listen to him all day. I think the quality of this video (sort of raw) adds to the pain and authenticity of the feelings that the lyrics invoke. Would love for you to react to The Promise (Superfruit’s last cover) and Messer’s Angels Pray.

Check out Come Along (fun song and way under appreciated) For Avi lead…check out Light In The Hallway. It’s the raw style you like. Slow, but no beat. They all sing! Scott wrote it when his nephew was born, but heard it in Avi’s voice.
Because of it's purity. It is soul piercing and completely captivating. This song made me melt and the lyrics sung by Mitch had me crying but not by Billie. His voice is so compelling.

Ethereal. Perfect. Wish he were my next door neighbour, I would have pulled up a lawn chair to watch that show on the roof. Mitch played the keyboards for the backing track. I so look forward to seeing him play piano on stage one day. There are some videos from school days where he is playing piano and it would be so great to see him play now. With all types of music that he's into. It's a real vibe.
