I knew from the jump that things were off with the leadership based on Cadians body language at events. He seemed depressed and not himself. It sucks because he’s one of my favorite players to watch on lan
Also they played nothing like Heroic so it was clear Cadian was not in charge which is dumb af, since Heroic played one of the most beautiful CS.
Yeah i felt like he was feeling like an outcast and someone whose voice wasnt listened to at all, feel really bad for him
The comment on what Twistzz needs to work on to be a good igl implies that he was one of the people who was complaining behind the scenes.

@@WWaduhekyfrom my understanding, I think Twistzz didn’t wanna adopt into Cadian’s system which is understandable since it’s 180 from how Karrigan ran things. And Zews gave a bit more insight into the signing of that roster. Twistzz didn’t sign on based on cadian but actually skullz. So maybe after Twistzz signed on, the decision to go with Cadian was after and it was doomed from the start.

Watching this after Blast and I would like to ask people to stop bringing up NAF as a problem party. Cadian said on broadcast he was open and a listener (in general not vocal) Naffers stand proud, the sloth just wants to win
tbh I’m not even sure how much of it came from Twistzz, like obviously the disagreements and the shot calling problems involved him and Zeus talked about that in the interview, but a lot of the interpersonal stuff, going behind people’s backs, undermining teammates, scapegoating feels like stuff Yekindar would do and has done. Obviously we don’t know, we know that the general dynamic was basically yeki and twistzz sticking together and undermining Cadian, how much of it was yeki and how much was Twistzz is unclear.
NAF was probably the one that messaged being like "I thought we were doing well..." 😅
I've had group projects where members were literally refusing to speak to each other that were more functional and healthier work environments than this Liquid team.
I think we all have... Then *that* group member only replies the night before the deadline and asks "how are we doing boyz?!"
My problem is why tf would faze not even attempt to talk to twistzz?? Like straight up ghosting him? Thats crazy .
They told him to wait as they were not sure of their future at the time. He didn't want to wait (understandably) and made worst move possible by leaving Faze.

so liquid lacks basic communication skills irl and just hid from discussing problems. seems like elige was the only normal one on this team who knew how to talk to others and they just didnt like that XD

Bro I love Elige but he definitely had/has these same problems. He was notorious back in the day for steam messaging teammates about other team members behind their backs.

I can’t forgive any team that treats my man Cadian like this. He really was set up to fail, given an impossible task and undermined along the way. I have to wonder if playing on these “committee” teams where everyone does whatever they want doesn’t distort players’ views of what a typical team structure with typical shot-calling looks like. Because the impression I get from players like yekindar and Twistzz is that they simply can’t operate in a team where an igl has that control over the way they play. In other words they are primarily the source of the incompatibility and not the igl who is trying to organize the team to be effective. There’s a reason basically only Faze has managed to achieve big success with this kind of structure and other rosters like Liquid have stagnated or declined for a long time with this approach. I don’t think this new iteration of Liquid is gonna do much better.

@@ceoherohub2584 Maybe you should talk shit on Cadian after TL wins something. Don't get me wrong, TL is looking better now, but that by no means proves that Cadian is a bad IGL that should be in T2 because, you know, Cadian has actually won something post-2019.

Guess we know now why they looked so bad on T rounds some times, go to one bomb site, double back to another bomb site, then double back again to the first bomb site, and then one last double back to the other bomb site, all while getting no picks, or intel to base this on. then show up at the bombsite with 8 secs left and basically be forced to hard run it in to even get a plant down. I mean it reinforces kind of what liquid was showing as a team, indecision.
Imagine Cadian saying "we're going A" and the rest team going "Nah, maybe we should go B" "No, I agree A" spend like 2 minutes arguing over every basic decision. Probs be even worse if someone gets a clean entry somewhere. "Oh i've got an entry B, let's push this and take it" and they all respond "No, they'll rush to reinforce, let's fall back and take the other site"
Shit show! I love liquid but they do seem to enjoy being the laughing stock of the community somehow
This is crazy knowing how well they just did at blast taking down the number 1 team twice in a best of 3... for as much as the team seemed immature, it looks like Twistzz and Yekindar were on to something.
Here after Liquid beat Navi 2-1 to qual for Fall Finals. What a team comp. Great talent scouting by Twistzz in ultimate, great coach-igl synergy with Mithr, and jks, NAF, and yeki can rifle so well
You've made the point a lot that if Liquid didn't want to have Cadian's system, they shouldn't have got him in the first place. However, I wonder if Cadian should have been the one trying to learn, adjust or adapt his leading style to grow into the IGL this team wanted/needed? I know that is a big ask - I'm no pro but I couldn't imagine how hard that would be for Cadian. That said, I think the IGL should bear this kind of responsibility. Especially if it's true that in the demos the team saw Cadian's calls weren't working out for them and that his calls were leading the team to play a style they didn't want to play.
TL;DR I'm not putting all the blame on Cadian, it's a team sport; however, I think Cadian was meant to bear the responsibility of adjusting his play/calling style to fit this team, not the other way around - especially given the difference in Heroic to this Liquid team. I think IGL's bear that responsibility inherently.
Thing is, Liquid knew what Cadian likes to do and plays the game already.
If you do not want that playstyle you should probably look for someone with the IGL style you seek.
We need unique IGLs in the game too than the same old same old style of IGL we see on every other team.
Its basically hiring someone to lead but you do not actually let them lead because you force them to do how you want.

fr, that’s part of the reason I like them so much, at the end of the day you know it’s Blade’s team, he forms a consensus with the igl and the other players understand they have to follow that structure. Players go into it knowing that’s the structure and if they don’t fit within it they get shown the door very quickly, which makes for more mutual departures and less drama.
I feel like this type of thing, conflict, undermining, would be a lot less likely to happen with a stronger coach at the helm e.g. Blade, Robban etc. Unfortunately seemed to be a mess from the get go. Liquid management should hopefully learn from it.

Any good coach should learn about radical candor. All that backstabbing is dumb and that's 100% the coach and manager's fault for not acting on it as soon as something come up. Team building activities are alright, but it's never enough.
I just wanna know what the point of that team-building retreat they had was if they were never gonna attempt to come together as a team in that same way again.
CS rosters are just people who want to play together. Not the best available at said role.
Thats just one reason out of many as to why it will never be a real sport.
Great players traditionally don’t make great coaches. There are obvious outliers in major sports. But traditionally the best coaches and GM/Owners were not great players.

what a shit show. i got really into the cs esports team during the pandemic and liquid was my fucking team throughout that entire time. i watched them choke and choke and choke over and over but stayed with them because they were the fucking boys. sure i stopped expecting much from them and at times utterly refused to watch their games, but they were still my team. when they signed cadian and twistz i thought holy shit it was finally a good day to be a liquid fan. then we watched it all fall apart in real time and that was it. it wasnt just that the new roster failed, but that none of them even fucking tried and they were pretty nasty to each other. made me lose a ton of respect for the old roster and the org as a whole. ofc i cant fully give up 4+ years of being a liquid fan so when they signed jks i was at least relieved that they were making the correct moves, but i wasnt hopeful what so ever. now that weve seen them in action a bit im tentatively hopeful again (for some fucking reason they got me brainwashed ig), but that emotional disconnect is still there. theyre going to have to do a lot to gain the trust of a lot of their old fans again after the shit show that was the previous roster. if nothing else, im glad ultimate is doing well and im genuinely surprised that hes taken to tier one and the new team as well as he has. ive had no trust in yekindar (even tho hes starting to do a tiny bit "better" the old yekindar continues to show his face) for quite a while now, but someone on that team really fucking likes him so i doubt hes going anywhere. during this whole debacle i think i finally accepted that it will never ever be a good time to be a liquid fan.
Ironically I mean cadian got kicked from Heroic because of Stabbi, same kinda stuff right?

"Top 10, to top 15" Yeah, when they should have absolutely been top 5, MINIMUM. "Oh, they went up in the rankings a lot" YEAH, cause that other Liquid was mega hot, mid T2 garbage. Love ya fl0m, but every bit of harsh criticism this team, these players, or org is getting or has been been the past two years is entirely and whole heartedly valid. Getting mad over them being called "the biggest bust" is the worst hill to try and die on for this.
