How good is Andre Onana or Ibrahim Sangare
Kolo Toure and Martinez were not the tallest but they did ok in EPL.
I think what Arteta is trying to achieve with this Timber signing, generally is, versatility. Game by game, he will have several options of handling each opponent. Arteta is a manager with immense foresight. Fans will come to appreciate this more with time
I agree...I won't be supprised.
The amount of times we see caicedo being in the highest positions on the stats table, it shows how fantastic of a player he is.
Phenomenal video as usual ❤️
I don’t think those stats were “top of the table” - I think they were against comparable players - white Trent Caicedo appear all the time
I also notice Man City's centre back on top most of the time😅
Wonder why Arsenal didn't go for him
@@tumwajoel7271 Because he is over-priced and we're already spending 105m on Rice.
As an Arsenal fan that tactical talkboard made not feel able to wait for the new season to start, so much variety and ability to keep the opponent guessing.
Arteta’s Stylebenders
As far as I've heard, Arsenal are trying to sign Timber because they want someone that can invert from right-back. I think Timber could do that quite well, as we saw ZInchenko roam around the field last season, something that I think Timber could replicate to a certain extent as well, with his proactiveness in the attacking third and ball-winning capabilities. He'll focus on his strengths (ball-winning and transition control, dribbling through the middle of the field, short passing) and have his weaknesses covered up by the players around him. A box midfield of Havertz, Rice, Odegaard, and Timber could work. We'll see, Arteta most definitely has a plan for him.
You see it
Timber inverting on the right will add bite to the midfield while Havertz adds the interchange and skill. It looks very nice on paper
salibating at this thought 🤤
What do you think, would Timber playing inverted possibly rejuvenate Tierney, as the left cb in a back 3?
@@rm0410 Maybe, why not?
😍😍😍 can't wait for more scouting reports this summer !! Keep them coming they're amazing !!
Absolutely fantastic unbiased breakdown mate. Dont stop, keep pushing forward!!!
Love your vids man. Your knowledge of the game is impressive keep it up 👏🏾
i think you are the guy i was looking for in terms of player analysis. kudos
Just discovered your channel recently and binged almost all your videos. Great content. I'd love to see one on rodrygo some day since he's a pretty enigmatic player imo
Also thanks for recognizing some player's are just more comfortable or inclined to perform better on a certain space on the pitch. I struggled immensely as a teen, when a coach played me as a CF or ST or even RW. When being a LM or LW beforehand. It was just purely unnatural, but I'm sure the true professionals overcome these adversities and listen to coaches of this pedigree and do whats best for the team overall.
I really enjoyed this video. Great video once again man. 🙌🏾
I’ve been waiting for this for a long time 👏👏👏
So pumped for this vid. Up at 4:00 AM in the states and ready to sit back and enjoy.
Unsure if you have woken up or stayed up, unsure if I'd rather want it to be a cure for insomnia or a dopamine rush to keep you awake further 😅
those lineups are very wild😂
Great video!
I reckon he could play the 6 role well and develop further being only 22, he has all the attributes to be an elite DM
What about the part where this narrator explained that timber is does not progress the game from his dribbles in his own half, that is a key role of a DM so I disagree
@@alecrodriguez5037he caan develop that. Esp since he will then still have 2 players behind him instead of being the last man, brings extra safety and confidence.
@@alecrodriguez5037he can progresses the ball well from inside the pitch but not from the wings. I think he'll make an excellent DM.
He has inverted wingback written all over him. Defensive fullback ain't bad either.
Also, I saw Trent alot there. You've gotta do him. And hopefully, you do more classic players, after this transfer window.
Thanks, and keep up the good work bro.
Off the ball I see mascherano a bit. CB and DM, aggressive, saver in the box..
@@traductionscultureen-arver2307 I hear you, but Timber ain't really combative in the air. Mascherano had that dawg in him
@@michaeluzoho5838 agree but to be fair now, the PL has become pretty much la liga. Every team playing on the ground. Brighton, Aston Villa, Wolves,...all playing possession style..not many aerial duels, much more pressing and looking for the free man
@@traductionscultureen-arver2307 true
He reminds me of Alaba. Just that he’s kinda off the pace in terms of his end product with the ball at times. But they have similar playing style but Alaba is more experienced ofcourse
Insightful as always
this vid didn't exactly fill me with confidence on the signing, but he's only 22 with a handful of good attributes already, i'm hoping with more coaching and playing within a better team he can raise his level to be that player we need. I believe! great vid as usual pythagoras, appreciate all the work you do
He is a good player ive seen him play and im surprised liverpool aint going for him - he can play CB, RB and DM and will cover alot of gaps but yes if everyone is fit I dont expect him to start
I have been waiting for this video
Bro your analysis is the next level🔥
As a Arsenal fan,I love to see your videos❤
I subscribed 🎉
He’ll be used for depth predominantly, I don’t see him starting over Tomiyasu or Ben White initially but in games against lesser opposition he will be used as an inverted right back allowing Tierney more game time. I think he’d thrive in a right sided Zinchenko sort of role as we saw this season it mainly involves mopping up losses in possessions (scrappy situations), short-mid range progressive passes and being competent and comfortable on the ball, all of which he thrives at doing. Perhaps long term he can develop his game to flex into a range of positions, but even playing this role just allows Arteta and Arsenal so many more options and good depth, as well as a player that has a high ceiling to develop. Good signing.
After a few matches and he will start. For any places in the defense, except for LB.
I'm pretty sure arteta is planning for him to be on the startup line up
@pythagoras I think your the best in CZcams at analysing players. Strengthe and weaknesses are always spot on mate!!
Would love to see an analysis video of Onana!!
On the list along with almost 10 others 😂
Mate your a legend with these vids. Will you be doing one on Szoboszlai?
He's next
You earned that sub 😊 I think we are buying him to be our right sided zinchenko in the inverted right back role. Great video 😁
Good breakdown mate..
Great video once again.
Great video!!
Great analysis 🎉
Wow very good analysis
thank you for this
Xavi Simons would be an interesting video. Can’t wait for the colwill vid!
Loads of people requesting Colwill, unsure if only Chelsea fans or not and if not if it's because England fans want a new CB to partner Stones 😆
Let me reduce this analysis to just one sentence: Arteta sees him as an inverted RB similar to Zinchenko, who is able to overload the midfield in order to break the defensive opponents' lines when we have lots of possession.
This ability to break stubborn defensive opponents (aka double decker buses) and take maximum points against "smaller clubs" is absolutely vital in the race against ManCity. So I see Timber as an effective 65th min sub when we are drawing against a team which is happy to concede possession and defend deep.
Great work, as always! Are you going to cover Szoboszlai too? I think he's got the potential to be one of the world's finest midfielders and i'd love to know your opinion on him.
He's next
@@PythagorasinBoots Thanks! You're the best!

Thanks bud
I really do feel his best position is CDM. I agree he is wasted a bit as an out and out CB. But then again I was watching him vs Liverpool and Napoli and they seem to have a good system where Alverez and himself rotate well
I think next season Arteta wants to move to the 3 -2- 4- 1 system that City used and he might just be the guy to take that Stones role
In the academy for ajax the Timber brothers were both sitting in midfield, only once he started to play for the first eleven he went down to CB/RB.
Earned a sub just with the name, m8.
THANKS FOR THE HILITES NTV
You understand this analysis thing 👏
Great video. Please do Gvardiol next.
6:38 this guy's creative passes are amazing he looks like he he would be a bigger asset an more advanced role than CB!
Great content- just new to your stuff. No idea how long it takes you but can you do a Arda Güler one would be interested to see if you tip him to be intergenerational 🎉
I see timber's best position as a CDM or CM he may not adapt quickly as a CB in prem. But he has a lot of potential.
Or he can even play White's role and be effective, it's just his crossing that isn't good
@@davidtaiwo8798 How can he be a CDM as his best position when his heading isn't great?
@@nietzschean3138 he can improve to be a deep lying playmaker because his passes are good. We've had players like jorginho and pirlo who are not great headers of the ball but good passers
@@nietzschean3138 Claude Makelele wasn't that great at heading either
He is a CDM, I'm totally convinced he is going to be a CDM, a ngolo kante type of CDM, all those RB, RCB don't make sense
Very good 👍
Well said. Feel like arteta will give him that responsibility too and the where with all to do so
good job, gunners need the analysis of kavertz, that would be great
Great video, May you please do an analysis of Dominik Szoboszlai.
Midweek next week latest hopefully
I see him providing an option to play the Zinchenko role on the right where he inverts into midfield. Slightly different than the stones role, his defensive responsibility would be the RB position rather than CB. This just gives Arsenal the option to flip the formation when Zinchenko is out and invert from the right instead of the left.
A lot of talk last season about how Arsenal dropped off after Saliba’s injury, but Zinchenko ended up being the defender who missed the most number of games. Timber allows Arsenal to rest White or have White cover for Saliba, provides an inverted FB option for when Zinchenko is out, and possibly play the John Stones role if Arteta chooses to play a straight 3-2-4-1
Just discovered this channel. Love it! Could we see one on Rasmus Hojlund? Hear he may be coming to Man U
Will be on Patreon
Please do an analysis on Dominik Szobaszlai
Out early next week fingers crossed.
@@PythagorasinBoots thanks
my man is making ufc references now... love it
If you go back to the jesus signing you can see that arteta wants some versatility in his squad. Fast forward to trossard havertz and timber. all four can play a wide range of positions and can play both feet. What we may lack in squad depth, we might make up with versatility and options. Timber opens up alot of options for us. Havertz can open alot of options. Rice can bolster the midfield. We've got some great striking options now too. The link up play with timber and saka is gonna be mad 😍😍
Interesting tactical qnalisis
I was waiting for your analysis on Timber and as always it's right on time and very astute. Many Arsenal Fans are saying. He is going to play the Zinchenko role on the right side while Tierney would be on the left. But like you said, how would that work in UCL against tougher opposition? I think Arteta is going to change his tactics once again to ensure he can find the right solution where he can fit Havertz, Rice, and Timber can be in the starting eleven. I hope this 'solution' reaches on time if you know what I mean. What's your opinion?
Timber is not starting. He’s a bench player
Making a ballance, tierney is better defensively than zinchenko and the right wing now has more defensive stability,
Szoboszlai next please!!!! Great video as per
Next week at some point
Love your content also can you do a video on xavi simons
Inverted full back all day don’t see him as a centre back. I am still not sure we needed him. This is by far the best video on him shows strengths and weaknesses
Could be a new Partey as well. Player's have beautiful transitions into other roles or positions that transform their career under the right guidance. I imagine this could be one of them
Hi! Great content, keep up the amazing work. Could you please do Dominik Szoboszlai? He seems like a very versatile and interesting player and I'd be interested to know where he ranks amongst Europe's elite?
In production at the moment

Lovely work as usual. Can we get a video for arda guler? Both barca and madrid are going for him
Yes, soon
would be interesting how you will rate our top players today at their 20s, like a mini series of messi, modric, ramos, busi etc... just to acknowledge how good they were statisticly
Can you please do a video on Dominik Szoboszlai???
3:12 that flick by Tadic though 😳
Any chance of a Levi colwill video I know he hasn’t had enough games and maybe would be hard to analyse but jw
He will be great Arteta will teach him more composure of the ball his only weakness is sometimes he wants fast action but that will get better in time. Apart from that he’s very talented.
Exactly, like how Arteta has taught Martinelli
Nice
We need you to do szoboszlai please 😊
Definitely going to be Inverted Wing back. He's going to be Zinchenko v2 role if Zinchenko didnt play. Or maybe arteta will slowly convert him into CDM just like how pep doing on stones.
This guy for sure can be a great backup for partey. Compose, calm , have an eye for line breaking pass. Just like partey, but he is more agile than partey , press resistent like partey.
Not sure he has the pausa to play as a single cdm
Now that Arsenal have signed him, watching this vid great too see how gd of a player he is, I've not really seen him play super excited for this season
a video on Szoboszlai ?
i wonder if he'll be played in a more midfield role alongside rice, both tackle cleanly and can move the ball forward and could work well together, creating transitions
Please can you do a tatical analysis on szoboszlai...plsss 😪😪
Could you maybe do one on Geertruida? Similar player to Timber so it could be interesting to see how he looks in comparison. Also has been getting some links around Europe lately (to Barça for that Koundé spot). Would be one of the "smaller" names so far but I think it could be interesting.
On the point about his lack of breaking the press from dribbling in his own half - do you not think this due to the risk of trying to dribble out as a centre back? Like as he showcases in the opposing half, he can obviously do it but just probably instructed to play it safe at the back - which is understandable
Szoboszlai analysis coming up?
Szobozlai plz
You should do a Gabri Veiga video
Inverted right back at the Arsenal. Will be top quality
Can you do a updated one of havertz
The stats was a nice showing but I feel you missed the chance to highlight Timber and White for comparison.
Timber has better dribbling stats, crossing accuracy, better heading stats, better passing (possession) stats, more progressive passes although lower accuracy on through balls, slightly longer and more accurate on long passes while being slightly behind White on goal threat. All those stats which you shown are favourable to Timber when compared to current inverted fullback, White. Yet in the tactical board you quickly skim past him in that role and how Arteta looks at transitioning and players in those transition periods. Going from a 3 CB 2 DM into a 2 CB and 3DM as we push forward is something Timber offers along with White. They both have awareness of CB role so if Saliba got dragged out right in a quick counter then both White and Timber know how to play CB so they can cover Saliba. Timber having high progressive passes is good for players who our AM can pass back to for possession recycling. I.E. switching side of play, Saka passes back to Timber who passes over to Martinelli.
When attacking then we can consider how pushed up he would be in a high def line if playing as the inverted RB. Just like Ben White was last season. Arteta allows his inverted fullback to occasionally make driving runs forward and we seen White link up with Saka and MO8 to get into the box and make cut-backs. Ben White got 0.01 more xA per 90 than timber who played as a CB, one could imagine that increasing in Arteta inverted fullback role.
Timber looks ideal as a player to come in and push Ben White for that inverted fullback role. He will take time to learn it but his stats would suggest that Ben White would need to be the best version of himself to remain the starter. It would also allow White to fill in at CB is Saliba got injured which was a season defining moment for us.
Like to see a comparison between Onana and Maignan
Do Szoboszlai next
How long was stones just a CB though? Genuinely asking, my memory is crap. But I remember him being an out and out CB, and only that before Pep saw something in training and nurtured it until it was ready to be put on the pitch. Arteta is as smart as they come. I can only wait to see how these players develop underneath his wing
Timber is going to as a defensive mid at Arsenal. He's really comfortable playing deep or wide and even up on opposition space, he's a typical versatile player that Arteta loves.
I think he's going to provide a very strong depth across 3 positions here and thats what Arsenal need. White and Tomi is awkard in the middle but not Timber, Gabriel or Saliba is awkward out wide or up high but Timber is not.
Timber is not here to replace anybody at Arsenal but I feel he will play that role similar to Zinchenko. I won't be suprised if he ends up playing on the left side too.
Please do Ivan Frasneda
Shows the level Trent is on . Literally on top 3 of every stats .
Can you do a video about Gabri Viega ?
good analysis! I can't see him playing as a RB for us but rather as CB. However his aerial game is so weak that it worries me
No chance he makes it as a starter cb unless back 3 and injuries
It's quite funny that you want Jurrien as a central midfielder. That is the position his twin brother Quentin is in, but his coach wants to try him at right back. Quentin is also very versatile and they haven't found his best position in the team yet. He played on 6, 8 and 10 and everyone wants to try him at right back but he wants to play midfield.
Please do a video of Dominik Szobozlai
Also how many years has stones been at man city underneath peps wing again? Hes been nurtured and given positivd but yet I'm sure critical feedback in order to change his game. It's hard to judge a new signing upon how theyd compare to a mulitple time winner underneath an amazing coach, almost not fair. Who was stones before? Everton and Barnsley? I mean. I just believe a lot of players have the ability to be one of the greats, but it does sometimes come down to the coach, training, regiments, and support they have around them. There's so much that goes into creating a player like that, most of what we'll never know honestly.
Levi Colwill video please!
