17:43 Something about that friendly fire co-op kill just had me dying from laughter. As fun as Twisted Metal Black was, it’s brutal to revisit it now when you experience the 90s-early 2000s difficulty that was a trademark back then. Definitely hope we get to see another entry for the series soon
it was not a trademark it was a scam run by yanke coin-op companies and japanese mono game hobbies culture literally everywhere in the rest of the world people were playing proper real games that are magnificent complex and are completable
Just an FYI, this is a reupload. Had to fix a few issues that were mentioned. I appreciate all the likes and comments that were unfortunately lost. Hopefully you guys wont mind reposting. Thanks y'all! 👌
Hey man your editing quality’s rad keep it up, maybe you should check out Timeshift when you’re done with the saboteur and scarface and whatever you’re up to, it’s kind of a hidden jem
Screenslayer. Im not sure if you know by now but in the game there are codes like shields and freeze blasts to help make twisted metal easier. I saw that your energy bar wasn't being used at all. Hope it helps.
This was a game I was both terrified to start, but excited to play. The music, atmosphere, and action were amazing and brought me out of my comfort zone as a child. Exposing me to themes I couldnt quite understand back then and probably saw some scenes not appropriate, but forever cemented my mind as a badass game
The other combatants do fight, but it's only when you aren't close, and they seem to do drastically reduced damage to one another. I understand trying to make it not be too easy, but they should at least have the combatants not gang up on you.
Discovering all the secret areas in this particular Twisted Metal game was a blast when it initially came out. Me and my friends would literally try anything, shoot up everything, destroy everyone on every stage/area. It was fun.
Twisted Metal 2 will always be my fav as it was one of my first PS1 games when I got the console. I have tons of great memories of playing it with my family and friends for years. Black was good as well but so was Twisted Metal 3. One of my favorite series of all time. The PS1 era was truly something else.
Your editing and dialogue for these are perfect my dude 👌 definitely one of my favorite channels but i think 20+ to 40 min review like playthroughs like this will shoot your views and subscribers through the roof!
2:54 I like to believe that there were multiple sweet tooths in twisted metal. Kind of like old contestants dying and new ones taking the mantle of the previous driver. Often times looking similar to the previous driver.
You finally uploaded it, awesome. Your edits and gameplay of Twisted Metal Black was so darn hilarious! 🤣 Thank you so much for uploading this video. This totally made my day. 😉
This, friends, was a large majority of my younger years, and I still play it to this day. It's amazing to see content creators revisiting this gem, though I would advise researching the (not so hidden) lore if you haven't already. Nonetheless, this was a great watch.
2nd video I came across that you made, your videos and commentary are great! You’re not annoying like the rest of the gamers, and editing skills are damn good. P.S. I recall trying to get those damn black boxes hidden all around the maps. This game was definitely hard when I was younger and I’m sure it’s just as hard now a decade later
So glad you made these videos since they hold such a special place in my childhood and I’m about to be getting a tattoo of Sweet Tooth too so weird too lol
I remember playing Twisted Metal 1 with my dad and I fell in love ever since. Twisted Metal Black was by far the darkest game I’ve ever played up to that point and it was the first game where I was really focused on the story rather than just gaming for fun. Also it introduced me to The Rolling Stones lol
The lore in this one was by far the best the did a really good job with this for it's time Great Video I love all those old movies you show clips of hahah
I love the way you tell the story of each battle. You were the perfect man for the role of showcasing the majesty of Twisted Metal: Black. Here is to twenty years of madness.
Dude THANK YOU for making this. Seriously; it is the best content I’ve seen in a while on this series. You are legendary for this!! Love your commentary
I remember being very young, maybe kindergarten age, and falling in love with TM 3 and 4. I used to draw my own vehicles with guns on them, for some reason it was always a Semi with a VONS logo on the trailer. I remember flipping through EGM and being floored with excitement seeing the new sweet tooth design and a new game. This was followed immediately by sheer devastation and sobbing once I saw the game was rated M. Maybe four years later, in 5th grade, I convinced my grandma to buy it hahah
Your commentary was absolutely perfect. Very dramatic and serious but then absolutely comical and hilarious that had me on the floor laughing for like twenty minutes. Love this game. Has been with me for almost 11 years.
@ 1:58 Best intro. Thanks for going through the tortuous gameplay as we all are aboard for your bus ride. The clip from billy madison captures the sentiment completely and made me laugh as I identified with the things we must do to entertain others. Ehhh. Its yeah. Thanks anyways! Keep going! Although I played Twisted metal black on PS3 first so this is new to me..
That is true, hence the possible reason why TM PS3 added factions and its story mode had the current character fighting against vehicles driven by members of a faction led by another playable character.
TM has always just been learning all the health drop locations and homing/power missile drops and running laps around these spots constantly and killing anyone that comes in your path while constantly staying at top speed and full hp. When i was a teenager my cousin and I would fly thru these games doing that strat. We always preffered the most balanced cars like roadkill and outlaw.
this was a core memory for me. Played all twisted metals in childhood. Black came out in high school and that was our first community game. i dont even remember who bought it, but beat it and pass it along.
I remember being a little kid and going into my older brothers room one day. He was away in college. I saw next to his computer a copy of Twisted Metal: Black for the ps2. But he didn’t have a ps2. Or he did but he never let me play. Anyway, I remember just being in awe at the cover for this game. NONE of the other twisted metal games had such a BADASS cover. Sweet tooth looked TERRIFYING ! He didn’t look pixelated or nothing. That was my first time seeing a twisted metal disc and game. I never played it. But my obsession for the series began. 2013 twisted metal I never got to try. I’m sad. Too bad the only twisted metal game available on the ps market at the moment (April 14th, 2023) is this game. For some reason the other games were taken out 😢 anyway great video.
I still play this game to this very day and most of the other ones as well really isn't something like it. The LA song from twisted metal 2 lives rent free in my head.
Loved this video, im currently playing it and trust me when I say I can totally understand you when you said that the game was rigged. Super frustrating but lots of fun in the end 😁
lol lil fun fact about this game, while making TM:Black David Jaffe was so focused on the game's mature world that he forgot to tune the A.I's difficulty which is why TM: Black is the hardest game in the series, i remembered playing this just giving up midway through, that Minion fight KICKED MY ASS also i miss this series would love to see a new game come out
@screenslayer have you considered playing vigilante 8? I don't recall if it had a campaign or not but that would be a good game to watch you play. Anyways Merry Christmas!
are you aware of the codes (simple inputs) for ice balls, firing backwards, jumping etc.?? just wondering cause i always used them to make the game feel a little more even. they exist in all the twisted metal games. things like left right up+machine gun. i think left right down+weapon made you fire it backwards mario kart style! there's tons of tiny inputs that make the gameplay way more fun
This game made such an impression on me as a kid. Played it around the age of maybe 10? I had to see every bit of it. Yeah it still holds up. Black is amazing ❤ 15:14 nice skrrttt 😂❤
Wow I completely forgot this game and we have some history. It came out in june of 01, I know that cause that is the same month I lost my left leg. With my last paycheck that I would ever earn I bought me a PS2 and this game. I was stuck in my room and then rehab for so long I beat this game some many times over that year. I was 18 then, I'm 40 now. Whats odd is I have heard the song painted black but the game never came back to me until i saw this come up some how.
The intro to twisted metal 4 is one of the best things I’ve ever seen in gaming history lol not the game, just that video. I LOVE it. Twisted metal black is definitely my favorite. Twisted metal 2 is a close second and is the game that deserves a remake and would make the best remake of all of them. I’d love to see the idea of twisted 4 redone. Sweet tooth deserves to take over the competition. That’s a great idea.
Yeah, that's one of the problems this game has (that was also present in the first two Twisted Metal games): despite Twisted Metal being a free-for-all fight to the death, the CPU opponents only target you and not each other (not even for five seconds do they attack each other). Black is a lot more brutal due to that game upping the difficulty because of its dark universe. Oh, and as for why Sweet Tooth crushed the vial and killed Calypso, I always believed it was due to Calypso wanting Sweet Tooth as his apprentice to take over the contest if he dies (as mentioned in Yellow Jacket's ending), so Calypso possibly made the vial with such a stipulation so if Sweet Tooth took it, he would have no choice but to stop killing by his own two hands and start training to become the new Calypso, which would mean others will do the killing he wants to do (and Sweet Tooth don't play that).
Not sure why but when I search your name, nothing comes up until I search for channels specifically. Keep up the good videos though, seriously my dude.
Jfc, if you play an older game, look for a pdf of the freakin’ booklet that came with the game and read it! It tells you about healing platforms, how to freeze enemies, shoot weapons behind you, use a shield, etc.
Pretty sure most of the characters were in TM1, Mr. Grimm, Darkside, Spectre, Roadkill, Outlaw, Thumper, Warthog and quite a few of those were in all previous 3 games.
are you going to be making one of these for Head-On? I only had demos of 2 and small brawl when I was a kid, I got head on when I was a young teenaged and I played it a lot, beating it with every character, before I finally got black, which was unbelievably difficult, I only recall beating it once as sweet tooth, though I remember many attempts as other characters.
Damn it, now I need to go find my PS2! Great play through. Before I dive back into this ball breaker, hitting subscribe. I blame you for the loss of the next week or so! LMAO!
Dude this game is FUN! I’m playing it at the moment. I’ve completed the story with a couple of characters and I’ve collected all the black boxes and I finished the two challenges to get the hidden maps. I’m working on beating the story mode with all characters to unlock minion. The game is really hard lol and I’m only on easy mode. I’m use to it but I can’t imagine hard mode. I’m gonna try out normal soon but for now I’m completing the game on easy 😂

Can’t believe David Jaffe went off to make the God of War series.

Thaths what made this game good as fuk when i was kid, we played 2 players mode so it was even harder but rewarding af after finishing it
It’s supposed to be challenging. Not like the press x and watch a cinematic for 10 minutes type game
they don't even pretend to fight. in tm1 they at least shot here they will stay in one place together and look at you waiting for you to come out
Twisted Metal: Black goes right next to Linkin' Park in terms of transcending edge.
Discovering all the secret areas in this particular Twisted Metal game was a blast when it initially came out. Me and my friends would literally try anything, shoot up everything, destroy everyone on every stage/area. It was fun.
To me TWISTED METAL BLACK is still one of the greatest games of all time. Just excellent

Impressive that you finished it without using the heal platform.
You gotta utilize your hidden abilities, shield. freeze. Fire backwards. Etc... game becomes alot easier 😂
Mines and jump 😂, now he gotta do another video 😂
1 of the best twisted metal games, twisted metal black
