Where are these stories though?
You only often hear about how sweet, generous, witty, funny, real and professional she is by friends, workers, collaborators etc. People that have spent enough time with her.
People see "diva" and they assume she's rude. So they spread lies. She is a diva (real definition of the word) but also it just means she acts bougie (as she should) and she likes things a certain way. She earned that right

When I was 16 in 2003, I met Mariah at her after show party (my mum was her concert promoter and took me along).
I was wearing my “fanciest” top, which was a pastel pink Karen Millen satin corset with white beads and embroidery (including butterflies) with low rise flare jeans. I walked up to her to tell her I loved the show, and she looked at me up and down and said “I LOVE your top, your whole look, you look AMAZING.”
* important to know, she didn’t know I had anything to do with the concert or that I was a 16 year old in a club.

I'm 34 and let me tell you, if you grew up in the 1990's then you know that Mariah was IT! Her albums and looks were iconic and no other artist can come close in my opinion. What I admire most about her is that she wrote or co-wrote all of her music and produced it as well. She also has a keen eye for fashion with a unique style. Mariah made me proud to be an Aries Woman and I love her so much always!❤🎉

I’m kind of annoyed that my opinion of her has been what it has been for so long - I feel like the media for a while, for whatever reason, wanted people to dislike her. At 35 now, I’m watching all these videos of her singing (incredible), and now knowing how hard she must have worked…I am freaking proud of her for being a “diva,” or whatever. This girl gave us goosebumps for years. She gave us the opportunity to get cray with our friends and family listening to “All I Want For Christmas” every year. She doesn’t owe anyone a single thing. She remained strong in her self worth, and she always deserved it. She has probably directly or indirectly hired thousands of people because her gift attracts that much of an audience. I was 24 and my dad was dying of leukemia.That song reminded me of his struggle not just going through the disease but the man he was before he became ill. I’m 52 today (I’m actually Mariah’s age) and whenever I hear that song I’m reminded of my dad and how much I loved, admired and still miss him. 🎶🙏

I agree. I die laughing at the things she says sometimes. You gotta have a sense of humor. I remember at a concert during the Rainbow tour( yes, I’m that old… I was 17 then), she made a mention that someone was smoking in the hall, both cigarettes and marijuana, and she said, “ Someone is smoking in here!” And, that same night, my mother and aunt, who drove my friends and I to the show, were sitting in the nosebleeds next to two ladies drinking and making out. My mother couldn’t see over them. And Mariah brought that up too. Was impressed she could see that high up. Lol 😂

She was on top of her game in 90s and 2000s and no she was not underrated she was huge, new generation does not know that era so they dont know. I had her albums and I see now that she was a fashion icon too. That ripped jeans was my inspiration for last summer outfits/ my moodboards for myself.

I live in Turkey and the first time I heard Mariah Carey on the radio was when I was 10 years old, which was in 1995 (I didn’t know her at all before that) And I couldn’t believe how magical and angelic her voice was. The next thing I did was begging to my parents to take me a cassette store to convince them to buy her album for me... they did and it was the legendary album ever - Daydream ♥️
She’s a legend for me since the first time I heard her on the radio 27 years ago and she will always be.
