Finally I find someone giving some love to Cathedral, and specifically their song Enter the Worms. They are such an underrated band. Barely anyone even knows about that song.
Love the series although I always feel as a fraud and not a metalhead afterwards. Great picks, I guess Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride and Tiamat got sacrificed for the sake of less frequently mentioned bands? Also Count Raven and Isole could have been included, I think they are also underappreciated. Also Anathema, Pentecost III is one of the coolest doom metal albums. Are you planning to do a separate video on funeral doom? I love Ahab.
It was harder for me to recognize many of them because it wasn't the original recording. Many of these bands have such unique sounds that they are more easily distinguished from one another if you hear how the drums, guitar and overall atmosphere sounds when you hear the songs, for me at least. I still got 7 of them though, I didn't recognize the Pentagram, Obssessed and Trouble songs.
Perfect choices for a doom metal compilation! The Obsessed (especially the first two LPs are mind-blowing), Saint Vitus, Pentagram, Cathedral among my favourites. Would love to see a funeral doom compilation in the future \m/ \m/
Absolutely amazing bunch there!! I'll never tire of hearing "Enter the Worms" and I'm away to listen to "The Ethereal Mirror" now. I got 5 bands there.
Love it dude, keep it up!! Mad respect for including Back Sabbath cause even many people who like and listen to doom don't even know Sabbath started it all or don't even listen to 'em. Weird. ANYWAY, can't wait for power metal :D
I started listening to doom metal a week ago, only because i gave Black Sabbath a chance and self-titled blew my mind. Fantastic album and it got me instantly into doom metal. Love it :D
I listen to Doom Metal subgenres since 2008 (Death Doom Metal and Funeral Doom Metal in general) so this video is a gift for me. I gussed all the songs. Though it was hard since you did mostly trad doom and stoner doom in this video (not funeral or death-doom)
Yes! Now I stand a chance! Some I knew almost from the first note: Cathedral; Electric Wizard; Sabbath; Sleep, a couple I guessed and a couple stumped me, even though I have the LPs. I have a lot of this style and to be honest they can sound similar and I'm also old and forgetful. I'd probably do well with some 70s metal. Well played as always.
I’m surprised by how many times I was stumped. Still got most of the picks right at least by artist. As soon as I heard these riffs from Cathedral, Solitude Aeturnus, and The Obsessed I knew I had to add them on a playlist and I’m definitely skimming through at least an album or two when I get off work. Seriously cool picks and you did a great job mocking up the tones, especially when you were doing Candlemass and Trouble. The tone you had for The Tempter was a dead ringer
@@motostarmx1777 for a second I thought you meant the song by Candlemass 😂 but yeah I’ve been looking into Solitude Aeturnus and they’re fucking great. Thank you for recommending Doomshine, I’ll have to check them out!
I'm jealous lmao, Solitude Aeturnus is one of my favorite bands ever, honestly every one of their albums is at least good, their first 3 especially are just legendary. Into the Depths of Sorrow is mindblowing, if you like The Tempter from Trouble I always found Solitude Aeturnus style in their first album very similar to that song. Also Rob Lowe in his prime is straight up one of my favorite vocalists of all time, he's so good.
@@francompalmieri SA was definitely a standout for me here, the bits from Alone I’ve heard so far (mostly diving into Cathedral atm) sound a hell of a lot like if Candlemass had Maynard from Tool on vocals. It’s a combination that I’m really into, can’t wait to get a little deeper into them
@@doomsdaycce Yeah they're the Candlemass from America if it makes sense, I would say those two are the pillars of epic doom metal. Btw have you ever listened to Scald? Will of the Gods is Great Power is one of the greatest epic doom albums, can stand toe to toe with any SA/Candlemass album IMO, it's got more of a viking Bathory vibe combined with Candlemass, heavily recommend if you haven't listened, one of my favorite albums ever, also an incredible vocalist.
🤘Hell Yeah🤘7/10 is my FAVORITE, B.Sabbath, Cathedral, Candlemas, E.Wizard, Obsessed, S.Vitus, Trouble🤘 I 🖤🖤🖤🖤Tony Iommy he is the first GUITARIST to play Doom in the late 60's. 🤝Congratulations Bro you also a Real Master of GUITARIST 🤝
I only got Candlemass, Solitude, Trouble, and Black Sabbath. Into The Void by Black Sabbath is the only song I can play so far, don't know why i chose a 6 minute song to start with lol maybe its the huge riff.🤘
I should have known the Trouble one! And most of the rest stumped me too lol Surprised the most obvious one My Dying Bride wasn't included, so that threw me off as well lol
Awesome! Shoulda ended with the diabolical tritone from the 1st Sabbath record though lol...I only knew probably the most obvious ones; 1,2 & of course 10.
Thought Ima doom metal. But when recognized only Cathedral and Black Sabbath, realized i am DEATH-DOOM metal, not doom)))) The riffs are awesome though)) Trouble is gorgeous!
beside Pentagram i know all bands but still just hit the target on 6. Confused Electric Wizard with The Obsessed and Sleep with High on Fire. anyhow, cool selection! kind of cool how Black Sabbath all bands smell and still don't sound anything like them with their riff patterns.
HA! I knew I would big fail on this one but I'm sharing to my friend I think will get about 90%... Only one I knew was the band was SLEEP but didn't know the song name unless it was gonna be DopeSmoker but thanks for throwing that last one in there for a freebie to the elders! The real bosses will watch this in halftime... */w\/w\*
I figured this was going to be classic doom bands, which I'm not a fan of. Doom to me is: My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Evoken, Isole, Ahab, Clouds, Woe Unto Me, Disembowelment, Empyrium, Forest Of Shadows.
If anyone is from the Dmv area there is a huge DOOM fest in Fredrick 20-30 doom bands play up there all night . The obsessed plays every year and pentagram did last year
Man, I'm so not Doom metal which is sad since Candlemass is one of my favorite bands. All I knew instantly was Solitude and, of course, Sabbath. Should have known Solitude Aeturnus since Robert Lowe is my favorite Candlemass vocalist and I like all of his numerous bands.
Missed #4 because I havent really listened to that one Recognized 7 and 8 but couldnt remember exactly what they were so I guessed wrong Good picks though
Hey Guys! This "Message Me On Telegram" shit is NOT me. Just ignore it and do NOT reply ! Thanks !!
Happens all the time in lot of channels! Hate this crap 💩 as well so I report every fkn time!
Cheers buddy! 🥳 happy new year! 🎆
Hail doom, such an underated genre
To me, that genre is just boring, or maybe i have to be in the perfect mood to listen one of those bands
@@romanders6451 Try Papa Roach then.
@@romanders6451 i think The Beatles for you
@romanders6451: Maybe give the Backstreet Boys a shot. Good thrash band. Peace!
I've been interested in doom metal, but can't find a lot, do you have some recommendations
When the first riffs are from Candlemass, I'm all in! Been a fan since 1988! 🤘🏻
I was like, “He better have “the Tempter”” and I wasn’t disappointed.
Finally I find someone giving some love to Cathedral, and specifically their song Enter the Worms. They are such an underrated band. Barely anyone even knows about that song.
That whole album is a gem.
Its such a great song!
And the cover art is perfect! It really tells you what to expect from the vocals… 😂
Good evening and thanks for joining me for some Doom Metal ! How many bands did you recognize ?
2/10 - Candlemass took me back right into the late 80's :) But Black Sabbath, Doom Metal? Really?
@@Slainte_Mhath They're the grandfathers of Doom.

No reason to play a bunch of notes. Just hit the right notes. 👍

He nailed the Sleep sound though
Sleep, Saint Vitus, Trouble and of course Black Sabbath.... This was over 5min of epicness!! Loved it.
Blind Lightning is one of the sickest riffs ever.
10 of 10.
It's a good introduction to doom metal list, after all. Basically the 10 most essential bands.
Witchfinder General?

Most definitely
I love funeral doom
Not a doom guy, but Candlemass was a sure hit! Did’nt think i would get more until the last song😂
So i knew 2 songs🤘🏻
I really should have listened to more Doom back in the 90s. I got 3. Well, it's never too late. Thanks for the inspiration& time for a deep dive!
I got all ten but then i was in the doom metal council, way back before the circle of true doom was even thought of.
Great vid! Doom and Stoner are my favorite genres! I especially like a lot of the retro stoner-doom bands
I failed miserably with this haha. But thanks for introducing me to some awesome new bands
I was bobbing my head by the end of each band! I love how you try to match both the guitar and bass tones for these vids, they're so sick 🔥🤘
I really need to listen to these albums again.
Absolutely amazing bunch there!! I'll never tire of hearing "Enter the Worms" and I'm away to listen to "The Ethereal Mirror" now. I got 5 bands there.
At least I knew the last one 😁 the band that I was in , in high school covered that. Really think that I need to explore Doom Metal 🤘🏻
I'm very thrilled to see all these bands here! I consider doom metal my specialty.

Ah gothic doom my beloveth
I was gonna be like where is solitude?! But you nailed that Matt pike tone. (Also into the void for sabbath)
That sleep one is awesome. I'm more of funeral doom. I've heard of all these bands but I recognised few songs 🫣
Im more into death doom or gothic doom not a classic doom guy but some of these are so recognizable and honestly pure BANGERS!
I knew all of them except for number 10…
😂but seriously thank you for this video. I think I may have to take the plunge into doom metal.

the born too late riff was played a bit differently, the third chord is played twice, but great compilation brother, great bands!!!
1st Doom video on this channel? That’s cool. But still keep the Thrash coming!!! Your videos are awesome!!!
How can people not know the first 10 songs from this list

Candlemass I used to play their Nightfall album front to back on guitar so heavy
Cathedral sounds so good!!!!
