    This reminds me an awful lot of Mount and Blade Warband and its mod "Prophesy of Pendor" (the crisis mechanic specifically). Have you ever tried those? They seem right up your alley:
    - hardly any time spent grinding money unless you want to (buying anything is expensive as shit, trading is lucrative, though),
    - more time spent fighting bad guys (again, unless you want to),
    - lots of epic loot (you might want to read up on some things like Qualis Gems beforehand, though),
    - an overarching story that is partially emergent, partially scripted
    - actually fairly decent AI battles once you get to fight proper faction parties (as opposed to brigands / most quest enemies)
    - many more factions, especially if you include all the small subfactions that are mainly running around pissing off the real factions, until they spawn a crisis event and with it at least one doomstack, which happens regularly.
    The crisis armies especially are really fun to take down imho, because they ARE going to outnumber your guys, they WILL have units at least as strong as yours (not all of them, though, since they are padded with trash units) and they are usually hostile to every faction, or close enough, so the lords that usually dick around doing nothing actually come to be helpful. The first of those crisis armies also spawns really early on, when you have 20 guys (and they spawn with 500), and you can see them as they start laying waste to some city or somesuch. And then the next one spawns, and then the next one, and maybe at the time the fourth one spawns the first one might have been worn down enough to be taken down, not by your party, but by an AI lord.
    The whole world map, while really small realistically speaking, still feels way more believable and like an actual world with shit going down in it as opposed to a stage for you to feel great in.
    Only thing that might push you away from them that I can see are the real-time battles that can get pretty messy (the mod's AI is a good help and formidable enemy, though) and are also first-person, as well as the sheer length of a whole campaign.

      yea i played this and i think of it as RTS mount and blade

    • @TheSamuraiGoomba
      @TheSamuraiGoomba Před 2 lety +2

      This is basically mount and blade in every way that matters. Similar strategies too. I usually start a vanilla warband run by going north to kill raiders until I can loot mail for my named/main characters. Throwing peasants into the meat grinder to get myself a horse and armor.

    Regarding payment. They seem to be paid from top left to bottom right in the formation order. Perhaps a small way of microing this if you know you're going to go in the red is to put the greedy ones first and the loyal men last.

    I lock the camera when I'm chasing an enemy sometimes. I find it just makes it slightly easier to keep them on the screen since occasionally I have to click now and then to catch them. That said, I wouldn't be very sad if they took that option out of the game.
    I am pretty confused as to why they'd have the option to toggle tracks. It's not like there are ever so many parties on the screen at once that you'd be cluttered with tracks.
