Always gonna advocate for Frightmare to get one. If given to a competent director it could be a very fascinating take on parasocial relationships you’d find today. As is it’s an interesting horror take on something that’s become so prevalent now. Also Jeffrey Combs before Re-Animator is always a plus 😌

That could be a difficult list to compile unless he sticks to botched adaptations only. But a Top 5 original idea movies that deserve a second go would be neat. Have to find the potential in a good original idea that just had the wrong people in charge.

_Taxi_ and _Taxi 2_ are classics nowadays - hands down, some of the funniest flicks Besson ever wrote.
... 3 and 4, though, are utter garbage.
_B13_ ? Another classic. I know why they made a sequel to it (money), but, it was so subpar, they shouldn't have even bother.
Luc can be a heck of a writer/director... but, when he misses, he misses EGREGIOUSLY.

Hollywood loves to dumb down films. It's literally just wanting to make sure that the dumbest demographic also keeps buying tickets, and ending up underestimating audiences.

My Sassy Girl. 2001 Korean film absolutely rooted in Korean culture. So it got a 2008 remake in the US. Does not compare favourably. I still get flashbacks to the original whenever I hear the piano theme from the original, and the ending has me in (happy) tears every time. Why remake something that good if you can't do better? Yes, some remakes are good (The Thing, anyone) but a lot more are not.

I would argue that John Carpenter's Thing is a remake of The Thing from Another World. Carpenter's version is a lot closer to the original novella and both movies really don't have much in common, except the setting. I actually like the '51 movie for adding a scientific viewpoint, something that's missing from Carpenter's version.

Lets get harry (1986) is an action movie but has barely action and mostly dialogue but its terrible however in the 2000s joel silver saw a script made by a duo which was a remake of lets get harry and the script was considered good and was well liked but unfortunately it got cancelled.
I feel like a remake would be much better if they had better acting, much much better action with squibs, and make its longer and have much more action on it.

They were sold on many formats XviD, Divx, Avi, and usually they were sold on cd's or as 4 movies in 1 DVD deal. That way you could see movies you would never see on tv or theatres, asian horror films or chinese/hong kong action movies for example

If social media is good for anything it is that when the annual threat of a remake of a beloved original gets ratioed into oblivion on Twitter or something it seems to prevent at least some of them from actually getting produced. Leave Clue alone, dudes. You'll never do it better than Tim Curry.

"District B13" has immediately gone on my 'watch next' list! And THANK YOU for warning me about the remake. I am not a fan of 'quick cut' action scenes, because they generally mean the actors couldn't (or didn't have time to) learn the stunt sequences. Clearly, Bell and Walker are no slouches when it comes to action choreography. Baffling.

The worst thing, for me, about the 'Taxi' remake (as someone who is into cars) is the car itself.
Even with splitters and big wings, the Peugeot 406 from the original still looks somewhat understated and cool. They didn't go crazy with the mods to make it look too 'boy racer-y'. Plus the fact they were able to have such impressive stunts and car chases with a front wheel drive car as the main car is impressive.
The Crown Vic cab from the remake just looks vulgar and ridiculous and just screams "I'm an idiot with more money than taste".
Anyways, great video as per usual.

The British St Trinian's movies. The ones from the 50's are hilarious. The remake was.. sort of okay...

I've seen the original Shutter, and it's pretty good, very slow burn. The fact that it's from Thailand makes it even better because you get to see a whole different culture and society, not so often represented in mainstream media.
