ONE OF THE BEST SONGS I HAVE EVER HEARD FROM THERION.
They have so many great songs who can't choose who is my favourite but certainly this is one of the best of the album, but after listening a lot now i adore all of them.

Tuonela is from the Finnish epic, Kalevala. It's the place where the dead will enter. There is a river where black swans live. Kalevala is a fantastic collection of ancient tales which link together. Tolkien was much inspired by this national epic.

@@rafaelparra1260 do you know that some recent theories speculate that ancient greek mythology derives from nordic legends? Some scolars say Homer tales like Odissey are actually talking bout Baltic sea and not Mediterranean. Some of them also says probably those nordic people migrated south (and founded Mycenaean culture) after a tsunami (or something like that) may have flooded their lands forcing them to leave.

@@momomono795 Yes i have listened to all, from the first album still beloved antichrist and i am a very new fan, who i have passionate with them.
I love their music and they are my second favourite band after NW.
But i prefer to following a band with their inspirations and not to repeat them again and again because some fans wanted to.
Of course in every album they have vibes of the band, Christoffer is the mind and the composer like Tuomas is for NW but the singers and the coir the solist and inspiration is always different.
The three single who they released are so different between them and imagine how more beautiful songs maybe exist in the album.

Great vocals & since I'm a Finn, this song also resonates with me as "Tuonela" is the realm of the dead or the Underworld in Finnish mythology.

I'n not a Finn but I've been in love with Jean Sibelius' music for about 10 years and I learned a lot about the Kalevala through his symphonic poems. The Swan of Tuonela is one of them and it's really amazing.

What a pleasant surprise. I've been listening to Therion since 1995 and now to find out they are still alive & kicking since their last album I've got from 2012 ...
To me Therion are like Nightwish , Metallica or Motorhead - these are not bands, these are INSTITUTIONS for they've paved the way for that kind of music.
It seems 2021 is not so bad after all.

I love therion this has a feel for there older stuff. The addition of Marco makes it a master pieve. Marco Hetalia will be missed. I only wished I could have met him and gotten an autograph. Now I may not get that chance. I wish him great blessings on his journey.

Therion was death metal at the beginning, then changed to gothic symphonic style, and now is a clone of Nightwish Anette Olson era. I will not say it is a bad song, but it has absolutely nothing to do with old Therion.

“Tuonela” es una cancion destacada del álbum y obviamente está inspirada en la cultura y la escena finlandesas. No solo presenta a Marco Hietala, sino que además, nunca has estado tan cerca de sonar como Nightwish. ¿Fue un guiño deliberado?
Había escrito una canción que pensé que era demasiado comercial, pero el resto de chicos de la banda dijeron: “¡Eres estúpido! Es una canción de Therion, tienes que ponerla en el álbum, solo tienes que reorganizarla. Volví a aprender mi propia lección porque había olvidado que podía reorganizar las canciones pop francesas. Nada es demasiado comercial, siempre puedes reorganizarlo. Después de hacer eso, sonó como un éxito típico de Therion. Cuando hicimos el demo, Thomas Vikström estaba cantando el verso y el coro, pero pensé que necesitábamos una voz más pesada, alguien que fuera capaz de cantar junto con la melodía pero también una voz más áspera. Encontré la voz de Thomas Vikström demasiado suave. Mi primera idea fue David Wayne de Metal Church, pero desafortunadamente, murió hace varios años, por lo que iba a ser muy difícil pedirle que cantara en el álbum. Empecé a pensar en quién estaba vivo entre las personas que conocía que tenían ese tipo de voz: un gran cantante melódico pero un poco más rudo. Así que pensé en Marco, no por Nightwish en realidad, sino porque estaba escuchando su anterior banda de Tarot en los 80. Cuando era niño escuchaba Follow Me Into Madness y Spell Of Iron y yo Siempre lo consideró uno de los mejores cantantes de metal escandinavo de los 80. Obviamente Nightwish es una banda fantástica, pero era por su voz áspera que la quería. no importaba si era parte de Nightwish o no. Cuando pienso en su voz, para mí es el cantante de Tarot y bajista de Nigthwish, aunque canta un poco en Nightwish. “Tuonela” era un tema finlandés, también le queda mejor a Marco ya que es finlandés

Marco has done a lengthy and great career with Tarot, Nightwish, Sinergy and Northern Kings. I bet he'll come back, he'll just need some time for himself.

From what I've gleaned from what he wrote about his reasons, it's not because he's quitting, it's because he's fed up with "the music industry's 9-5 mentality".
I guess he is just fed up with some manager's constant badgering "produce, produce, produce" without giving the artist a chance to catch a breath. I think all of the Nightwish members are quite well off by now, so he can afford to tell them to knock it off. Maybe they tried to make them go from quality to volume and he refused. Or they were going on "Hey, you need to promote the new album, let's book interviews and appearances from 9-5 each day..."
@@realulli And one thing is that NIghtwish is way more busy band than Tarot. With Tarot they have had big breaks always and all is in his own hands more since it´s his and his brothers band, so it is more flexible.
@@Aurinkohelmi I suspect, during the pandemic, no band is really busy. However, I think the record label tried to tried to make them get busy. "Keep on truckin', make us more money!..."
I read somewhere most bands really make money on tours, album sales mostly go to the record label's coffers. So I could understand Marko getting fed up with the whole situation.
