- There are so many street food options in Medan, Indonesia! Jonathan and the kids had a craving for some pork (babi), and it didn’t take them long to find Chasio Afoek 88. Chasio Afoek 88 is an Indonesian restaurant focusing on delicious chasio and siobak (which are different types of pork). We ended up with a mixed platter, and it was delicious! We have tried babi in a few different Indonesian islands now, and each time it is prepared a little different. It is always delicious, though. After the meal, the wonderful staff surprised us with yummy Indonesian desserts. You won’t believe how much we paid for this amazing meal. Stick around to the end of the video to find out.

We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, eight years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. We hope that our travels will inspire and provide our children with the confidence to meet new people, try new foods, and enjoy learning a new language. Visit Semarang, we have sooo many food. Try lunpia, mie tite (pork), nasi ayam, pecel, even nasi pindang. You can also try nasi kucing you can choose bunch of different food with your mini serving rice warp, really good and fun experience. Try wedang uwuh there.
One of many kind resto owner in indonesia... I have the same experience when travel across indonesia maybe like 4 or 5 time that i got a free food twice in sumatera and 3 time in bali god bless them
The popsicles you ate is called "kiam boi" , it's a fermented plum. the taste is sour and a bit sweet and it's a common drink in medan

Hii I'm Tina/aditya in Medan live in Little India 🥰oow that's name is not 'Afdek' but 'Afoek' ( foek means lucky) chasio 88 is the most expensive grill pork in Medan, but the most delicious too. Chasio is grill pork belly with honey & red seed ( kichi) , but the white one is savory /salty flavor ( grilled with salt)it's name 'siobak' ( means grilled pork) .Chasio & siobak is my favorite food & also many people's choice. Please enjoy a lot of delicious food & beautiful places in Medan 🥰🥰🥰

This reminds me a lot of the family lunches I used to have as a child 10, 15 years ago (born and raised in Medan). The orange juice order is the cherry (pun intended) on top. Crazy how similar family cultures can be across such vast distances.

The egg dye in brown colour. It because the hard boil egg stew with soya dark sauce for few hours. It just like having the Chinese Herbal egg, the egg white slightly brown colour

The popsicle I believe was made from passion fruit (Indonesian : marquisa/markisa). They grow a lot in Berastagi, a city very close to Medan. It taste sour on its own hence a lot of them were made into syrup. If you like the taste then try to find Marquisa/markisa syrup at local supermarket or online store, most of the time the thicker the syrup the better it taste (Mr.Kee or SS (Sumber Sari) brand taste good to me). It is very versatile, you can enjoy it hot, cold, made into popsicle, mix with soda, liquor, you name it 😁. It's one of my favorite drinks during hot days, a bit on the pricey side but very worth it.

If you want to eat the best Pork in Medan, you should try Chasio Asan in Jl. Sun Yat Sen (Sun Yat Sen street). That is the best one.. Not saying afuk isnt good but Chasio asan is the best one here
