- Join us tonight as we immerse ourselves in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s largest night market: Taman Connaught Night Market in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a bustling street market renowned for its irresistible Malaysian street food. With its vibrant atmosphere, it attracts locals and tourists alike. The market offers an array of mouthwatering dishes that satisfy any food lover's cravings.
We found over 10 street food items to eat here. There are so many more, but we got too full. We indulged in the succulent skewered delights of satay or meats on a stick, featuring grilled chicken, beef, and even a hotdog. We explored the diverse world of pork dishes, such as the black vinegar pork. Our seafood enthusiast, Granite, enjoyed the crab dishes like chili crab in a bun or a bag of small, fried crabs. We can’t forget the crispy prawn cake, too! Don't miss the adorable animal steam buns filled with red bean paste, sweet potato, or pandan. Those were a favorite for Forest and Cedar. And to satisfy our sweet tooth, we sampled many desserts including jelly mice, caramel corn, and an apam balik (Malaysian specialty pancake).

The kids do a very good job of describing the food they taste, much better than many youtubers.
Especially so called “influencers” who have all the credibility of my shoe & make me cringe more than the smell from my shoe after a mini marathon 😂
Thank you so much. That’s very kind of you. I’ll pass your message to the kids. :-)
The children only taste not eat.
You can see how happy the children are with each get their one bun.
@@zaintonputeh8475 Yet they give better reviews than some fake food bloggers & influenza (spelling error intentional).
I’m a Singaporean and we know Malaysian foods are on the next level.
Thanks.

@@keryjr785i heard that Thais add marijuana leaves to their foods, it's makes them addictive...😢

Wow plenty of food out there!! Yummilicious
In Indonesia, they called Apam Balik as Murtabak. But in Malaysia, Murtabak has its own identity something like a bulk up roti canai with ingredients.
In Indonesia, they call it martabak manis if the seller also sells the savoury martabak together. Otherwise, it is called terang bulan.
Some of Indonesians think this pancake like martabak manis as local invention as they have only seen our thin crispy version of apam balik. In truth, this snack which can be thick like pancake or thin and crispy were brought over from southern china migrants to south east asia in 19th century.
@@alexlee2765Martabak manis/Apam balik originally from Fujian.
Martabak/Murtabak originally from Yemen
Because murtabak is middle Eastern influence here

Black vinegar pork is a Hakka specialty dish, Hakka is one of the Chinese ethnic. Suddenly I missed my late grandmother black vinegar pork.😊
Yummy. I am cantonese, my late father was expert in cooking it
Oh, wow! I’m sure your Grandmother’s was delicious!
Taman Connaught night market next to my home👍👍👍
You’re lucky!
Most of the food are extremely expensive compared to pre covid time. But glad that you guys enjoy the food.
Kids are just fantastically adventurous!

Just in time!!
For the apam balik, I would recommend the original one!

Hi watching from California USA
Welcome to 🇲🇾
how mad is it that while researching and planning for my upcoming Langtang Valley Trek, i stumbled upon your YT videos, which were the most helpful especially the Kyanjin Ri one...and then a few days later, this video appeared in my feed and realized that you were actually in Tmn Connaught a month ago (!!!), which is the place where i was born and bred ! My parent's home is like literally a min walk away from the night market !! (we call it Pasar Malam!)....what a small world ! haha.......your Nepal vids have been very helpful to me in my planning.....am really looking forward to Nepal....thanks a lot and bless u all ! awesome family !
PS: Apam Balik is the bomb ! Making me hungry now...i havent had it in ages....might actually go grab a quick one this Wed lol
I think those popcorn is so satisfying
good vid as always
Appreciate it!
Happy family🎉🎉🎉
Granite remind me of very young robert redford 😊
What's a so fantastic family❤
❤❤❤ this is your best time, you remember in future.............❤❤❤❤❤❤
Her eyes are so beautiful 😻
That’s a hello kitty bun 😀
Mr Jonathan, you must be the toughest blogger around, as physically and mentally you are taxed to the maximum. Being a teacher it is an advantage as you can go on talking non-stop. Your wife also exhibits her cheerful side. Your kids played their roles well though I wasn't quite sure if they could keep on. I don't expect kids to maintain consistent demeanour throughout, but your kids are veterans. Enjoy your stay.
Night hawkers always got great buys and yummmy food.
Yes they do!
@@BagsPackedFamily ❤❤❤
Wow. I Like Pork. I Will Go There If I Go To Kuala Lumpur. I Think It Is New Place.
We also have crispy shrimp here in the philippines
Thanks for a very nice video about Best Street Food Market in Kuala Lumpur👍
Most welcome 😊
You have a beautiful family.
Thank you so much!
i used to study at the university next to this market, it's always packed on wednesday, miss those foods tho
you guys should try Luo Han Guo drink... every wednesday my dad will treat me that drink after long evening session school.
Apam Balik basically is one of my favourite desserts, there are two version, one is the thicker which chewy and buttery peanut (more corn will be better) and the thinner which crispy like a snacks.
Wach from Indonesia
😍😍😍
Hello kids... welcome to visit Kuching Sarawak.
Man I regret not going to this market when I visited Malaysia..... it was only on Wednesday and my schedule was packed.....guess I will have to go back again
Yes, you'll have to go back! Us too!
⭐️ we have taro too in the Philippines. We call it “gabi”. It’s not ube. Similar but different. 🇵🇭 One distinction is that we normally use gabi in hot savory while ube is almost uniquely a snack or dessert. Gabi is used in one hot sweet snack called ginataan halo-halo (not the popular ice dessert but a hot bowl; ginataan actually means cooked in coconut cream).
Thanks for sharing!!
the black vinegar trotter is usually cooked for ladies after delivery during confinement, its suppose to be sweet, vinegary - suppose to be warming up the body after delivery
Thanks for the added info!
Really enjoyed your videos so far ♡♡♡ Your family is amazing and everyone's really open to trying different kinds of food which is awesome!!
That tornado potato crisp is a korean thing. Korean stuff is popular here, same for the tiny crabs (korea+japan) and taro's popularity since way back is because Japanese stuff is also very popular here..
As you can see, we can't helped but reflected those in our eats too..
Seriously you guys could've passed as Asians with those palate of yours haha
Fyi black vinegar pork trotter (boiled with loads of ginger) is most recommended for post partum recovery & in the past was included in a baby's full moon gift pack to friends and families.
Black vinegar is more earthy than astringent, kinda like balsamic vinegar with toned down acidity.
I was kinda surprised you guys didn't try the salted egg fried food stall. I feel like you guys might enjoy the taste tremendously.
Do come back again to Malaysia, with our multi cultural society, there's plenty to eat from different ethnic groups and some dishes which are influenced by other ethnic / culture as well XD
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Keep up the good work ^^
Malaysia Tu boss 👍🏼
damn you guys really went to Connaught.
Oh, yes!
Travelling with 3 kids you both make them look like a stroll in the park. I can't even get my 6 yr old kid listen to simple instruction 😂
28:44 That Marty Buck (Martabak Manis) in Indonesia. In Malaysia we called it Apam Balik.😆
