    I’ve read the book before when potty training my first. I’m glad I watched this video because it’s a good refresher for potty training my son! Thank you❤️

      Yay! These are exciting times, when my boy told me he needed to go potty for the first time I almost teared up. My only advice as this point is to not be afraid of accidents. Accidents are essential to the learning process because they have to feel how uncomfortable it is to wet themselves to understand why they should use the potty. You'll get used to spraying surfaces and throwing the clothes in the wash like it's no big deal :)

    I also think it’s good to introduce the potty early . I purchased a potty seat when my son was 16 months old and we “practiced” for the months leading up until I felt he was ready (22 months.) I honestly feel like this is making our potty training journey less stressful

    Thanks for a very well explained video. Im on Day 4 with my 17 month old. Im glad with the progress my baby has made so far. He was able to initiate here and there since day 3. I still wish i watched this video before i started so i could be more patient on the "resistance" to stay on the potty of my baby.

      This makes me so happy! Bravo for taking the leap and doing this at 17 months 👏. The goal is for them to go from clueless to “I am peeing” to “I am about to pee” to “I will need to pee in a bit”. It just takes repetition and persistence and he will get it! The resisting will ease up once they realize their only choice is to either wet themselves or use the potty. I would say don’t be afraid to let him pee in his pants, it is part of the process of learning to self initiate. When I eased up on the prompting and let my son pee himself, he experienced the consequences for himself and he started self initiating way more!

    • @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina
      @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina  Před 3 lety +1

      Haha yes, I felt it was so important to have the freedom to leave the house so I really didn't care. Now I hide the travel potty in a small tote bag in the stroller and try to find a hidden place (ie: behind pushes) for my toddler to do his business. But the first few days he was just going in front of everyone :D

      @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina  Před 3 lety +1

      If she is showing signs that she is ready you can definitely start! Worst case you do a reset and try again in a few months.

    When you went out to the park the first day.. Did he say he needed to use the potty on his own..?
    Or did you just make him sit every 15min?

    When can you go to each block? Do you have to make it a day without accidents, or only until they make progress in that block? Thanks for the video!

    What travel potty is that? I have almost the same one, but it didn’t come with the tiny bucket to contain the pee or poop, you have to use plastic bags. 😕

    Day 12 with our 17-month-old. How many accidents are normal? (I know every child is different but still. I am curious.) All poops and mostly every wake-up pee goes into the potty but all other times are completely random. He points at his training pants now once he wet himself but no signals or prompting from his side.
    Do you think we should switch to real underwear? He can hold his pee for up to three hours, so if there is an accident, it would be a massive puddle...

    • @nea3090
      @nea3090 Před 2 lety

      you should not do diapers or training diapers at ALL only during sleep.
      My son was doing sooo GOOD the past 3 days at home with pee&poop all in the potty. We went to the park today and I put a diaper before we life because I was just scared 🤦🏻‍♀️..he was sooo confused and keep grabbing the diaper..then at the playground he pooped in the diaper .I felt bad because he looked at me when he poop and was confused if he should tell me or not.

    • @annkatrinstenzel1984
      @annkatrinstenzel1984 Před 2 lety

      Maybe I should give it a try after all ;-) Thank you for your reply 😀
      He only wears diapers when he sleeps. The rest of the day is exclusively training pants, even outside or on car rides. Today he wet his pants every 20min, although he usually only goes every 2 hours...It is a long process for us, I guess

    We have done this method and now at 2.5yrs old we are stumped because the only time she doesn’t have an accident is when we initiate it. And take her she doesn’t willing tell us she has to until after she has an accident.

    • @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina
      @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina  Před rokem +1

      Yes, in the beginning I had to prompt my son all the time. I’d say he only started self initiating after he experienced the consequence of wetting himself a few times… so don’t be afraid to take a step back and let her feel responsible. Congrats on starting the process though, it is a journey with ups and downs but eventually they all learn to do it :)

    When you sent him to daycare during this did you put him in a diaper?

    • @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina
      @TiidiiLivingwithSabrina  Před 2 lety

      No, our daycare was fully on board with the potty training and they said they would make him sit on the potty with the other kids at regular intervals. He had accidents at daycare for a while but they were ok with it. Not all daycares are so accommodating though!
