    • @CoordinatedCarry
      @CoordinatedCarry Před 4 lety

      Kyle Vanwinkle No, I have that and I don’t like the tail switch. If anything I’d compare it to the Seeker 2. Just combine the M2R Pro and the Seeker 2. 1 LED running on a 21700 capable of running over 60 days with a 1/2 a lumen moonlight mode. Reversible pocket clip, & no tail cap to screw up. Make it slim and trim too. Add the rough texturing & the TIR lens of the S1R & S2R Baton 2’s. OMG 🤩😍!! Like the Baton Pro but much better. No need to go nuclear with 2000 lumens either.1150 or whatever is fine, maybe 1600 like the M2R Pro?

    • @kylevanwinkle2081
      @kylevanwinkle2081 Před 4 lety

      @@CoordinatedCarry I have no desire for another flood light. Nearly every olight is made as a flood light save the warrior x, warrior x pro, and javalot pro. The m2r is the next step towards floody. The seeker2 and seeker 2 pro are ridiculous flood lights. And in low they last quite a while. The seeker 2 has 15days of output on moonlight mode. Asking for more than that is a bit foolish.

    This is my favorite flash I own. I keep it in my truck and it just turns on when I need it. Have had it for years. Great charging system. Also love the Olight brand, the few other lights I've picked up from then have all been quality. Olight s2r batton 2 has been my favorite everyday flashlight for a few years. I don’t know about now but, I used to go to the Olight Ebay store and they give/gave you the option to “make offer” on most of their products. Kinda gives you the option to talk them down a few bucks and save some money.

    I have used this light for years everyday. I have Olight 3,600 cells that I bought then but can’t find now. I charge the cells every 6 months. That’s it unless I’m out using them for extended times. I have one that I use every morning on moonlight mode to get ready for work and not wake my wife. I had it run for over a year on one charge. When I bought the lights, these are S2 batons, years ago. I tested the runtime on them. I turned them on and let them run till it died. They were all close to the info on the box. These are almost perfect lights for everything minus distance. It’s not a light thrower. However on my land it covers all my open areas around the house. About 75 yards I’d say, it’s just dim at distance. I’d get this for EDC and SHTF. Totally agree Nutn. Thanks for the vid and showing the newer ones. I may have to get some ones that charge from the end cap.

    This video reminds me that I need to call Olight to have them replace my lights AGAIN.
    Warrior 2 Pro, $135, last all of about *10 seconds* before going critical at a low setting and permanently dying. They replaced it, and it has now only lasted about 6 months.
    I also have one of their tiny little rechargables that went hypercritical on its own and melted everything on its insides and burned me and my carpet. Actually liked that little sucker...
    LOVE their Valkyrie 2s though! Have a couple on my house guns. Other than ones made of cloth, it's nearly impossible to find holsters that fit them though.
    Also have the Baldr Pro, with green laser, mounted under my AR pistol. Perfect setup!

    The Streamlight Stylus Pro has failed me for the last time. I’ve gone through 3 in 10+ years. Swapped out clips, button caps, light bulbs. They keep failing, and I try to keep them alive, because I LOVE their form factor. So thin and small. Upgrading to this Olight S2R II rechargeable today. This review sold me on the switch. Fingers crossed this one can do better than the Streamlight Stylus Pros. It’s always a bit of a gamble changing up your EDC.

    I EDC'd an S2R(first gen) for over 3 years as a farmer and it was insanely tough. Unfortunately I lost it a couple months ago but that thing was used hard. I do a lot of mechanic work on the farm and use a flashlight as a headlamp for most of the day a lot of times. Never had a battery failure. One time I dropped it off of a grain bin about 50ft into rocks and it didn't phase it. Olight is good stuff. Their weapon lights haven't been great until the Odin but I'm hoping they will improve their pistol lights the way they improved the Warrior/Striker line into the Odin. All of that said, I'm an Olight believer.

I have an 18650 that came with my M1X Striker (my EDC light for the last 4 years) and have not even thought of replacing the battery yet.I use my light all the time in hot and cold weather and it still has good burn time after all these years. I bought the S1 Mini for a friend a few months ago. I was debating between the S1R and the S1mini and opted for the mini because of the direct charging to battery (he's outdoors most of the time so he preferred to run microusb to portable charger). It was ASTOUNDINGLY small, I lost it in my pocket and couldn't find it even patting my jeans down. It was almost like a thick version of the i3, I was expecting something much larger.
    Olight has stepped their game up for sure. It's as if they've listened to all of your criticisms of various lights over the years.

    Got an S2R II Baton in Nov 20. Love it so much I got a Perun Mini in Dec...LOL. Awesome little light. I used it in the house, practicing a power outage, and at the Moonlight level of 2 lumens, you see plenty to get around. Insane. So I've been using it at the low and mid levels mostly. I have to agree, Olight makes some good stuff! My only grippe is with the Warrior Series tail caps. Not the accidental turn on, but the fact it makes the lights very hard to stick horizontally. Which is one heck of a nice feature! They slide down....those three prongs that stick out reduce contact area...sucks. However, they did an awesome job with the tail cap rubber cover and the way they handled the situation. Kudos to them. Nice to see a corp pay attention to their clients/users.
    Great vid bud!! Cheers

    I got one of these, worked great but they can be fragile in my experience. They appear well made but i have had two failures with my light. First time was after i dropped it from a height of three feet onto a concrete floor. The light would flicker intermittently, more so when in higher output modes. The company did a great job of responding to that and fixed/replaced the unit. The second time was just recently and appears to be the switch. I have the feeling they build a quality light body and are using a great LED but the electronic connections inside are suspect for durability.

    I must admit to being a bit of an Olight fan-boy. Yes, they are made in China, and while that's a *big* problem for me, I just can't deny how good they are and how much of a value they are for the price.
    - I carry an *S mini Baton* (predecessor to the S1R Baton II... looks the same but it's "only" 550 max lumens and it isn't rechargeable) every day
    - I have a couple of *SR2 Baton II* for home (I do carry that when I know I'll be needing a light).
    - I have a couple of others as well - a *PL-MINI 2 Valkyrie* , a *Perun* with the velcro "patch" attachment
    I have nothing but good things to say about all of them. They are bright, reliable, and have a feel to them that says "substantial" and "quality". If you can get past the whole "made in China" thing (and I understand _100%_ if you can't), I think you'll really enjoy these lights!

    Always been a Surefire/Fenix/Nitecore/Streamlight guy untill about a year ago when I decided to give Olight a try, so in the past year or so I have spent a bit north of $2000 re-outfitting every and all my light needs with everything Olight, in my opinion and even after owning some high end and rather pricey Surefires I think Olight builds a better and more durable light, and they keep the UI nearly indenticle amongst all the models so you ain't fumbling around trying to figure out the UI when you need it, I can't say the same for Fenix, Surefire and some of the others (it seems like some of them can't make 2 that work the same), Olight is the energizer bunny of the flashlight world.....it ain't got a bunch of unneeded glitter and glitz just what you need to get the job done and it just keeps on going and going and going and going and going and going.

      It's kinda depressing when you notice how much all the "other" category of firearms ownership adds up. You think the rifles are the expensive core of the system, but then you notice the rails, the stocks, the optics, the lights, the mags, the carry system, etc. I've known a couple buddies who've finally gotten into lights lately with all the unrest, I think it dawn on them that crackheads don't generally go headhunting during the siesta. -Doodle

    I have two Olights. They are both good, but not stellar. The first is the S10 baton. It is nice and bright but the side-mounted switch is very prone to unintended activation. I was able to mostly mitigate this by positioning the clip over the switch to protect it, but this means I can't ever use the clip as intended and it makes the switch hard to manipulate when I do want to turn on the light.
    The second is an I3T EOS. This one has a tail switch that also is prone to unintended activation. I all too often find the light is on in my pocket. I can often move it to a shirt pocket which mostly solves the problem, but only when I'm wearing a shirt with pockets.
    Like I said, they're good lights, but they do need improvements.

    I just bought one last week, before I saw this. It's an amazing light. The modes are perfect, and it's incredibly small for using an 18650. Nice and bright, more than enough throw for an EDC. I don't know what more I'd want within reason.

      @@gordonbombay6627 Yes, that's why I said "for an EDC". I use my EDC predominantly for administrative purposes. For any HPAC situation, or if I go out at night, or won't be home before nightfall, I'll take my Modlite handheld, but that's more for "tactical" use than administrative. Way more candela, but no "modes" only full blast, which is just way too much for most administrative tasks.

    I had the Olight S30R and the on/off switch failed. When I called them for warranty support they were straight up and said the had a problem with that switch and replaced my unit with the S30R Baton II. I appreciate that kind of painless support so I bought a second one. After years of use they are still going on their original batteries.

      I wouldn't use the word "perfection" to describe any torch , including Surefire.
      Surefire makes as solid a product as anyone, but they can also fail. I have personally seen Surefire weapon lights and hand held lights fail under use. I have also worked in a very large Surefire dealer and seen multiple returns by unsatisfied purchasers.
      Nothing is perfect except Glock pistols. And they are only perfect if you change the sights, barrel, trigger and every other part of the gun. At least that's what Glock fanboys say.

    sorry for the late response. I have had olights since I found the t25. I have owned too many of their lights :-P. I currently run the s30r. I will not be able to upgrade to their s2r for several reasons. I have too many accidental triggering in my pocket carry. To lock out the side button out you hold the side button down. When you sit down and accidently press it and reactivate it on top of it is a pain to unlock every use. My s30r I can rotate the clip to lower the accidental triggering. The s2r you can't rotate it and it will point against your body when clipped to a pocket. I have messaged them about the side button activation and their two response were rotate it under the clip (pocket will trigger it) or the flush button instead of the old side button that was raised. I really wish olight would come out with a good edc pocket flashlight set up in this light. Other then these gripes I do still love olight lights I just wish they would not ruin good parts (aka the clip) and fix the issues (aka the side button activation in a pocket)

I want the baton pro but couldn't justify it. 2 weeks ago the lights went out for 3 hours at night. Wife's light (my old terralux) dead put new battery dead in 1 hour on high.
