      Thanks for the excellent video. Trying our hand at an uzi for the shop since I got a parts kit for a decent deal, and I think registering the bolt is the path to take. I have one question, is there a drawing you reference somewhere that shows exactly where the bolt needs to be clearanced (primarily to clear the barrel restrictor ring)? I didn't get a good idea of what area needed cutting when you did the bolt comparisons and would appreciate some help

    • @TheKYNREEVE
      @TheKYNREEVE Před rokem

      An addendum to my previous comment - do you think it would be easier to mill the top of the restrictor ring flush to the top of the feed ramp instead of milling the very hard bolt? That way could you just use a normal semi auto barrel and not worry about it - would the semi auto barrel still work with the smg bolt in that case?

    I never really paid much attention to the uzi other than pop culture being able to recognize one. your videos about how they operate and differences between the semi auto and smg versions are really cool to learn about. Being a gunsmith I am interested in the different types of actions and nuances between different designs and different ways to tackle the same problems or functions

    I've never been an Uzi fan, but seeing how they work, the mechanics of them is making me a fan. It is so cool to see how people thought up a design in their head, put it on paper, then built it out of metal. These were designed before we had CAD programs, so this was all traditional, old-school drafting with the T-square and drafting table.

    thanks for responding to my questions, i have one more if you don't mind. we were talking abou thtis at work and had me considering getting the 07/02 manufactures license if i decide to go full auto and not include a federal retirement center HAHA. if i get it and do it for a few years make a few fun guns. what happens if you let that expire? does that mean you need to surrender any full autos you made to LE or do you get to keep them? it would be fun to do and hang with others here in AZ doing full auto shoots but not serious enough to drop 500 a year on them for life. thanks again. only thing i have found is someone saying that if it is a post 86 you got to sell it, if its pre 86 you can keep it. that "new machine guns" require an active license. if that is true then im not gonna mess with it

    • @BWEFirearms
      @BWEFirearms  Před 2 lety +2

      Any one can build their own gun legally (in America) as long as its not built with the intent for resale. If one builds a firearm and then some time down the road ends up selling the gun, it is recommended to add a serial number for your personal records. State laws may restrict the transfer of firearms but that is up to you if you want your POS state stooges to make you a state cuck...

      @ominous_Hash Před rokem

      Engineering student here. Possible problems that come to mind are that the springs could be too soft or possibly too little travel of the bolt. It really depends on how the error happens. You can possibly film the extraction with slow motion mode to analyse how the feeding error happens.

    Hi Richard,we finally received our 07 02 and currently don’t have a welder on staff but do have machines. Is it possible to ream out the semi trunnion to accept a full auto barrel? Or is it absolutely necessary to use the full auto trunnion? Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge. Great videos!

    • @BWEFirearms
      @BWEFirearms  Před 2 lety

      You should be able to ream the semi auto trunnion out but you will need to have a custom piloted reamer ground to spec. Be very careful and you should be able to ream it out and keep everything straight and concentric. Cutting the semi trunnion out and welding an SMG trunnion in is much faster and gives a better final product.

    Tech question, do you have a CNC mill or are you using a manual to hard mill the slots in the bolt?
    I have some hard milling feeds and speeds at work, but they really would only help you if you're using CNC and cutting a trochoidal toolpath through the hardened steel. Most real gunsmiths I know are not CNC jockies like us kids and since they are turning a handwheel they don't have much use for hard milling by the numbers.
