Having spent a remarkable 70 years on the throne, Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-serving monarch in British history, and her image has become inextricably linked with that of the United Kingdom. As such, her style has always been considered a signifier of the times; while in her later years she has become known as "the Queen of colour", thanks to her penchant for block-colour brights - making her seem a pillar of strength and consistency - in the early years of her reign, she demonstrated through her wardrobe what it meant to be both a fashion-conscious mother and head of state.
In our exclusive video, three experts - historian Amanda Foreman, costume designer Michele Clapton and celebrity stylist Miranda Almond - dissect the Queen's various looks through the ages, discuss what exactly it is that we all find so fascinating about royal fashion, and share what they think her enduring style legacy will be.

This video was so interesting. When talking about royal fashion we always think of Diana or Catherine but The Queen has a style all of her own which we’ve seen evolve over the years

The Queen looked lovely in the 40s and 50s because she had a good figure and lovely face ,the fashions showed them off and Amies made beautiful clothes.As a child and teenager in the 70s and 80s I always saw her as a bit frumpy but once Angela Kelly took over as dresser her clothes have been far better.I loved some of the quirky touches in the hat trimmings and the way the hats,coats and dresses reflect each other.I wonder what will happen to the queens clothes now?
