    I line my Pyrex with Glad wrap and once the food is frozen I pop it out and wrap it. When you want to eat something just take it out in the morning, unwrap and pop it back in the Pyrex and let it thaw in the fridge for baking that night. I use the same 6 Pyrex over and over and I usually have 25-30 Pyrex shaped meals in the freezer, they stack well.

      This is a great idea!! I'm new to freezing, I just got a large stand up freezer this year and now I wonder why I didn't get one years ago. What do you wrap your meals in after they are frozen in the pyrex? I didn't know I could freeze in my glass pyrex, I was afraid they would crack. Do you have any tips for freezing in the pyrex? Have a great day, thank you!!

    Always run your soap recipe through soapcalc. Not everything doubles or triples so it will give you the proper measurements. Also never use aluminum with cold process soap. Stainless or approved plastics. I am a soap maker and was inspired by your calendula products. I also grow calendula and I'll make some salve and infuse oil for my soap!

    I think I’d be shocked at how much money we spend eating out. I’d rather have that money in the bank for something else too. I watched one of your meal prep videos and I think that might be the way to go as well. I spend almost 3 hours a day cooking homemade dinners for my family. At 55, I’m just tired of doing that. We have a deep freezer, but it’s full of meat, etc. I’d have to buy another freezer if I were to do the meal prep...which I’m probably going to be doing. Thanks for all the ideas. You have a beautiful garden.

      Once we moved 20+ miles out of town and since we both got off a different times and would have to drive home and then turn around and drive back into town just to eat we stopped eating out and the money we saved was surprising. I don't even get carry out because it's cold by the time I get home. Now that we are retired and can eat out whenever we want, we say do we really want to drive all the way into town just to eat?? The money we have saved is shocking.

      @@sharrilswindle752 We are in the same boat, but we still buy things from that little grocery store to help them stay in business, one day I'm not going to be able to drive all the way into town, the price of gas may be too high, the car might not be running well, I might not feel well or I just need one thing. Helping them stay in business will help me in the long run and sometimes I get a surprise, they get something in that is so cheap I just have to buy some. They also procure meat and vegetables from local sources keeping the money here and I know where my meat is coming from.

    • @sharrilswindle752
      @sharrilswindle752 Před 3 lety +3

      @@sandylee8184 ,OH I agree, I go to that store for some meat because they are actually meat processors ,they do deer, and things people hunt ,they will process. I buy my ice cream from them ,so I can get home before it melts..I usually by mostly organic or non gmo at least ,but I know as things get harder it may not be available anyway ..we also have a store called needful things ,they have a used furniture part ,then a discount stuff store which can be anything and they have a grocery part , and they kept everyone in our town and area when people couldn't get toilet paper they would take a truck up to Jacksonville, and bring a whole truckload of toilet paper to our town and alot of stuff the stores were out of, they had it ,so I very much appreciate them!! And we have a salon which I go there, and she does great work ,and we have a barber and aesthetician, and nail tech ,so the little town is 11 miles from me, and thankfully hubby has motorcycle, so if need be he can run to store..we stopped eating out ,it's just easier and less time, living so far out ,to just cook at home, now after doing this for a year and a half ,saves money and I try to always keep a year long pantry..so I would always not have something when I needed it , so I just started keeping a large pantry..I just finished canning 27 quarts of potatoes and onions..so worth all the work.

      @sandylee8184 Před 3 lety

      @@sharrilswindle752 Bless that little store for keeping things in stock when other store shelves were bare, it's great that they process the meat you know where it is coming from, not like Sams where the ground beef can come from Mexico, Canada, or the US. Now that it isn't required to label where the meat comes from we are being much more careful where we buy things. Congratulations on keeping a stocked pantry, I find so much security in ours, it is such a small closet next to the kitchen so I have food and supplies tucked everywhere. My husband mentioned we needed to corral it and try to get it more organized and I totally agree, I have considered moving stuff (like Christmas decorations) out of one of the rooms in the basement where we keep the freezer and utilizing those shelves for overflow. I will be able to keep better track of what we have and plan on starting that soon. I haven't taken on canning yet, I feel more comfortable with the canned foods I buy, I would hate to poison someone. I should have paid more attention when mom canned when we were younger. I love this youtube channel, I get so many ideas now I just need to put them into practice, everyone is so nice here.

Threw the clothes in the laundry, hung the jeans out on my clothes line. Long story short ended up with gorgeous Sweet Williams under the clothes line. Didn't have the heart to mow them over so kept hanging clothes around them. It was a great surprise as they started showing up and then grew and grew and bloomed and bloomed. Happy accidents. Any soaps that I have made with lye I have ALWAYS left for a year before doing anything with it. It gives it a proper chance to cure and even if you have been lye heavy with it it tends to settle down enough that you can use it for its made purpose. It's a relatively new practise to make soap and use it within a month or 2. Traditionally it was always made a year in advance. That's me though but thought it may help xox

    You do have a couple options other than turning the soap into laundry detergent. You can add a small amount of water and melt it back down on low heat stirring frequently. Once melted, stir constantly for 15 minutes or so before pouring into mold - no aluminum foil or pans. You can use cardboard box lined with parchment paper. I would let it set for 2 or 3 days before trying to cut it. If you feel it is lye heavy you just store it longer before using. The longer you leave lye soap the more lather it produces.

    That's such a nice garden. I can't wait to own my own piece of land and grow my own food, too. It's not only enjoyable, it's profitable, too. I think you're inspiring a lot of people to do exactly what you're doing. Seeing you do so many things is very encouraging because we end up telling ourselves that we can do it, too. I'm just hoping I'll succeed in the gardening venture because I don't have a green thumb at all 😆😆😆 My 25 y-o kid basically told me that I'm an expert at killing plants 😂😂😂We'll eventually see if I can end up having a green thumb coz I've always enjoyed being in the garden doing stuff related to gardening.

    Hi there. Just found ur channel last week. I have used powdered and liquid diy laundry detergent. 1 grated fels naptha bar, 1 cup borax, 1 cup washing soda. Mix together use 1 TBSP per load. So u might can grate some of ur soap in place of fels naptha bar. But I've never used homemade soap b4. I also add some scent beads any brand works but that's optional. I love ur videos and animals.

    just an idea and I'm in the process of watching all your vids as I just found you earlier today but if you sew (I am assuming you can sew basic stuff, at least) you could add pockets to that first half apron using left over scraps of material and it could turn out super cute and SUPER useful! Who doesn't love pockets?! Edited to add: if you find the pockets on the green denim'ish one too high, you could lower them, too! Love them all

    For your soap you should use a calculator to use the correct ratio of lye/fat even. I used mendrulandia and it worked well. It's good to do it even with recipe you find and you can adjust the quantity to do bigger batch :)

    Hey girl! I used to make 60+ lbs of fudge during christmas time. I had the same problem you did with the soap and cutting it. Then I bought a pizza blade cutter! Complete game changer. They got one on Amazon for about $13. Another suggestion I had was for seed storage-really useful box cd storage. Staples has them for about $10. Wow! $5k on eating out? Now that YOU are saving all that money by cooking from home there's you should be able to get your greenhouse!!!! Just tell Josh the Snail Slayer to keep his paintballs away from that. LOL

    I really like the crisscross apron. I once poured boiling food down my front. Regular cotton did not help. That half one, I wondered if a simple patch pocket sewn on or a tab like loop would give you some versatility. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you. My fiancé and I are looking into buying some acres and you mentioned buying a homestead. If you don’t mind, would you do a little video on the process? Take care. 🌸

    You need to use a soap calculator. It will ensure correct lyr/water ratios. Soapcalc is a good one.
