Steamrail Snow Train II 2019: Australian Steam Trains in 4K

Mainline steam returns to the Victoria's eastern main line through the La Trobe valley with the annual Steamrail "Snow Train" specials.
This video features the second of three trips run during the 2019 season on 4 August 2019. Featuring double headed R class 4-6-4 "hudson" express passenger steam locomotives and 14 carriages, this train is a highlight of the 2019 steam calendar.
We begin the coverage on the new "skyrail" elevated railway at Noble Park and then follow the train through Drouin, Trafalgar and Morwell on the down journey to Traralgon.
The return journey commences with the locomotives lifting their train up the 1 in 50 grade out of Traralgon with a spectacular smoke display, followed by scenes in rapidly fading light at Moe and Nar Nar Goon.

Hi Michael. I agree, great video. This line is broad gauge, same as N.I. Victoria was once all B.G. But a few lines are now converted to S.G. I am ex N.I. And left there 54 years ago, never been back. Cheers. NSW.

Hi Jim. Thank you for your comment. In 2016, I travelled from Campbelltown to Melbourne which used to be both standard and broad gauge. My sister lives in Camden, near Campbelltown. She came from Antrim in the early 80s. You wouldn’t recognise NI now. Best wishes.

I remember being 6 years old and I lived in drouin the first time this train came through I was on top of a overpass and the second I was encased in the smoke I new I loved trains
