Best OBS Settings for Streaming 2024 - Complete Guide

- In this tutorial I show you the best OBS settings for streaming 2024. When it comes to streaming it's best to use your GPU's inbuilt video encoder. Not all computers have these options, however, most gaming PCs will. If you have an NVIDIA graphics card then you will want to set the encoder to NVIDIA NVENC H.264. If your PC has an AMD graphics card then you will want to use the AMD HW H.264 video encoder. In situations where neither of these options are available you will want to stream using x264.
Another important OBS streaming setting is rate control. This is the method used when encoding your stream. The best rate control for live streams is CBR as it provides a constant quality for your stream.
Additionally, you will also want to have the best bitrate for streaming. The higher your bitrate the better quality your stream will be. However, streaming platforms like Twitch and CZcams do have bitrate restrictions. Another factor to consider is your upload speed as this will limit the bitrate you can stream with.
The best bitrate for streaming to Twitch is 8000, however, 6500 is also a good option. When streaming to CZcams you can set your bitrate to 10000, providing your upload speed allows it. By maximising your bitrate while streaming you can ensure your viewers are getting a good viewing experience.
If you're experiencing laggy stream then you can usually fix it by lowering your bitrate. At times low end PCs might not be able to stream with the best bitrate. However, there is a workaround. If your stream is laggy then you can lower the bitrate and frame rate. With a lower frame rate (FPS) a lower bitrate will look better.
To ensure you have the best OBS stream settings you will want to test increasing the encoder settings. If you start to experience dropped frames then you will need to lower the settings. As there is a lot more than just bitrate to consider there is a lot to play with. However, not every setting makes a huge difference when streaming.
For preset you will want to use the P6: Slower (Better Quality), or P7: Slowest (Best Quality) option. However, you can lower this if needed.
Once you have the best OBS settings for streaming you will need to apply them. This will save the settings to be used everytime you stream.

Happy that I could help, good luck on your content journey!
It's getting to where you have to have a degree in video production to stream. Would have never figured this out w/o a tutorial.
Please!! all guides on CZcams need to be like this!! 100!!!
so i want to make two separate profiles, one for streaming and one for recording is there away to have one profile have diff audio tracks then the other? for example for recording i have 5 diff audio tracks bc it makes editing easier but for twitch i have to have all my audio on one track. so will making a profile save audio tracks or will i have to change them every time i wanna stream/record?
ty imma test this

For several years I have livestreamed a meditation class every 12 hours, but have little to show for it. Do you know of a course geared specifically for non-gaming livestreamers?
Pretty good video, just straight to the point. But whats with the 8k Bitrate ? is 6k not the limit ?
That’s what I’m here for an wondering, I have 1gb up/down hardwired to both pcs but twitch likes to use a walking 🦯 cane max 6000. CZcams I know you can blast the bitrate. I have my OBS twitch set to 6k. It states stable and then also unstable so I don’t know who wants what… 🤦♂️
A lot of this is already outdated on OBS but is still good info tks
Great Tut Real laggy my first trys..
amazing 😃
Thank you!
Hello, for the encoder, starting from preset i don't have the same options, is it because of an update?
please make a video for best settings for microphone filters!
What version of OBS is that? some of the settings are not on my obs I'm using the 30.0.2 version
Thank you champ
I have a question for u. My PC Spec: ROG STRIX 2080Ti, i7 8700k (Game Mod: ON), 32gb RAM, 2 monitors with 144hz and with this settings in video, i think my stream is not smooth, It seems like 60 fps turns into 45-50 fps at times. When I go to see other streamers on Twitch, everything is smooth and clear. Any ideas?
Um..Why my OBS missing both lot of the setting from the video here? Look Ahead, Psycho Visual Tuning, both missing. Presets too, just 3 options too: Quality/Balanced/Speed. Is that some old version of OBS? I'm with Windows 10 and amd gpu (rx 7900).
Edit: Yep. Said features sadly are only for Nvidia GPU's.
For AMD, setting should be (as taken from official OBS post):
"1) Set Profile to "High" B-frames to 1
2) In the AMF/FFMPEG Options field, enter HighMotionQualityBoostEnable=1
3) Untick "Rescale output", you should be using the "Video category" on the right side list instead, under "Output (scaled) Resolution"
when i first got my elgato hd60 s+ i streamed Elden Ring PS5 using obs (pc specs at the time i7 8700k, rtx 2060, 32gb of ram) and it ran perfect. but i felt like streaming wasn't for me so i packed it away. several months to a year later I wanted to try streaming again so i hooked it back up (this time: i9 13900k, rtx 4090, 64gb of ram) to play Final Fantasy 16 but there was stutter (i believe is the correct terminology for what's happening). i tried Elden Ring and the same thing. i watched a bunch of videos on things to do but nothing works.
I have 2 options NVIDIA and AMD for the encoder, i have a gaming laptop with rtx 3050(laptop), What do i choose?
When it comes to your upload speed, did you mean Megabytes or Megabits? Or was this an error?
megabits, error on my part
How do the Keyframe and B-frame settings affect the image quality?
I LVOE YOU THANLKYOU
are saying for the bitrate Megabytes or Megabits?
i have upload speed is 114 Mbps per sec ..i need to stream in 4k how much i should put in bitrate
Lancoz downscale filter works better for IRL content and webcams. Bicubic is better for gaming content. Overall though, great video.
ryzen 5 3600+rx 6600m here, my twitch stream through OBS looked much better (clear) without using AMF/FFmpeg options, it appears after max B-frames here 2:03
i did all these , i try open stream and goes from 10000 kbs to 150kbs , it might the network be the problem?
This is the best OBS settings tutorial on CZcams
How much did he pay you?
very soild my man

I bet I can make this a 25 minute video

Good setting, but my stream is still blurry,i have a 2 Gbit optical internet connection. Why i can't make such a good looking stream like others? :(

Isnt the max bitrate for affiliates 6000 kbps?
Would've been a bit more helpful to have actually shown results or a comparison at the end. Making Those changes probably make some improvements however there's also the possibility of it doing the opposite happening
Got a few questions for you @slurptech !:
I get 517.4 Mbps download & 12.0 Mbps upload, and I'm streaming to Twitch. Should I set my bitrate to 6k or 8k? Also I have a high end PC but I game and stream from right now. When i 1st started my fps was at 60 but my streams would be choppy and I would get way less frame in game so I dropped it to 30 and that's been good for me. So should I really go back to 60? Or can I do something in the middle? LASTLY, why not put the 'Process Priority' on 'High' instead of Normal?
Thanks!
@slurptech I need ya insight bro 🥹
If you have 12 Mbps this mean you have a 1.5 MBps upload speed. while OBS max bitrate for non partners right now is: 6000 Kilobits not even KiloBytes.
So 6000 Kilobits are equal to 0.75 MBps so you are good to go with that upload speed of 12Mbps. Even if you family is watching netflix on one device at 1080p they may be using around less than 300 KB/s which is stand for 2mbps upload
so 0.75+2mbps is like 0.95 you still having plenty of room to not saturated your stream.
But if I was you, I will try to drop to 5500 to have a bit more of margin of upload speed, and that's still good.
Hope this helps.
i get 20 mbps upload but i have mine on 4000 just to be safe
My upload is 400mbps+ what do i set my bit rate to?
12 megabits per second or megabytes per second?
So if my upload speed is around 298Mb/s what value should i put in bitrate section?
8000 for twitch 10000 for CZcams
Did twitch increase the bitrate for non partnered users? I know it had a limit at 6000kb.
no it's still 6k. after partership it's higher
I am having an issue where my chatbox will not appear, I use streamlabs and copied their chatbox to a browser source. The chatbox is just invisible or something. Can someone help me?
Can I really stream for twitch at 8000 bitrate with no issues even not being a partner? Everywhere I look on the internet says that twitch only allows 6000 max bitrate if you are not partner.
I am using these settings and i have no problems.
8000 works for everyone, and always has. You can even do higher resolutions & framerates above 1080p60, but it doesn't turn out as well with such a low bitrate cap. You can also crank up the bitrate much higher than 8000, but your livestream won't be viewable by people (you DO appear live), though your VOD will be watchable at your true bitrate.
i dont have the same settings as you please help
Im going to stream on youtube and i have a speed of 88mbps which is approx. 11MB what bitrate should I choose?
He mentioned it.....
How do i check my upload?
what do i set on bitrate if i have 150 upload
Why is it not letting me change it to output mode advanced. It just keeps me on simple
Question i have a 2k monitor im playing my ps5 on.. my pc monitor is 1080.. what should be my resolution n bitrate
I would set base and video resolution to 1920x1080 and fit the gameplay to match, then follow the settings in the video. So 8000 bit rate if your internet allows
@@slurptech what u mean fit the gameplay to match. U mean turn 1080 on my ps5? Or
you can do that if you wan't to, but I just mean right-click on the gameplay source and go to transform then fit to screen. It will make fit the 1920x1080 canvas@@MiGzZ_X1
why use the graphics card? why not cpu encoder?
My streams look buffering when I’m moving fast in games , can anyone answer why?
I have a wireless headset with bluetooth and built in mic. Ibhave it synced to my PS5 and OBS on Windows 10. I have my input/output set to my headset but I'm not hearing anything. What can i do?? 🤔
Also I use a capture card. What should the audio settings be for my capture card??
how can i check my mbps?
So, why is that a lot of streamers use 1664x936 instead of 1920x1080p? It does look a lot better on Twitch
You can use that resolution if you want, I’ve even suggested it in a previous video. However, I usually recommend 1080p as it’s better/easier to work with when creating content outside of Twitch, which is the best way to grow your stream. So for most people 1080p is the best option
1:20 Twitch has a cap for the bit rate, my recommendation is 4k however if you are playing a FPS game it can range from 5-6k as 6k is the maximum
Edit: this is due to the fact that FPS games have more pixels and more graphical updates
Set obs to ignore the cap (shown at start) and use 8000, then whenever possible your stream will be better quality.
Which mic u using 😮
LOL
Should i us AMD or NVIDIA? i have both options.
Can you post a screenshot of the menu and another screenshot of the performance tab in task manager to imgur and link them here?
my valorant fps drops to 60 what do i do i consistently get 300
i cant find p6 slowest can you help it just says balenced and speed and one more but yea
speed, balance and quality. Pick the quality one, it just means u dont have a very very powerful PC.
i have 800mb upload and i put 13000kbps and my stream it's still low quallity shuld i put it higher?
8000 on Twitch and 10000 on CZcams, any higher doesn’t do anything and may cause issues.
I just made a speedtest, and i get : 37.72 Mbps (Upload)
What should i put as Bitrate ?
If you're streaming to Twitch: 8000
If you're streaming to CZcams: 10000
Any stuttering/dropped frames then reduce the bitrate
@@slurptech 6000kbps is hard cap for non partners on Twitch, on YT it's 15000kbps
best settings for CPU encoding?
dont use cpu it will fuck ur frames in game
I have an issue with my gaming monitor being more vibrant and better looking but on the stream it doesn’t show the vibrant colors just keeps them dull… how do I fix?
right-click on the source you want to be more colorful, then select filters. You can add a color correction to the effect filters and adjust how it looks.
@@slurptech what have you found to be best for the settings?
alot of those setting in output i do not have
What would the bitrate be for 50 upload?
Don’t go any higher than 8000 for twitch and 10000 for youtube
@@slurptech So 10,000 would be good for CZcams then? What about for Discord and Facebook?
What if my upload speed is 32mb?
if my upload speed is 100 what should my bitrate be?
8000 for twitch, 10000 for CZcams. There are limits to how high your bitrate can be streamed at on each platform
isn't 8000 bitrate just for partners?
Doesn't get better than this
