I think audio on dating apps is great because the way someone's voice sounds can be such a dealbreaker. My friend and I were talking about this, but you can be talking to someone for ages, and they are awesome, and then you hear their voice and you can't.
My very irrational fear is actually that there will be a psychic around, actively reading people's minds at the exact moment that I have an intrusive and horrible thought...because obviously there's always a psychic just invading people's brain pans all willy nilly with nothing better to do.

A nuance I would add is that everyone is trying to project some positive qualities on a dating app, that's just how the "market" works there. What makes it feel like a red flag to me is the knowledge that you have multiple chances to record whatever you want, and that was the chosen take. That is what makes it clear that the intention was to project an approachable, awkward, and self aware persona, which to me is indeed a bad sign because if those are the best qualities you can think to put forward about yourself I have to wonder why. One could give the benefit of the doubt that it's just a random funny joke, but it feels more likely to be someone who has learned that "self awareness" makes a good mask for behaviors they know are unacceptable or negative.
I found a lot of these to be really funny, and on an app where everyone wants a comedian for a partner its surprising how boring, too serious and unfunny some people can be.

I thought that too! I find the idea of calling your partner "mama" or "daddy" or "my girl" so creepy I think my brain refused to acknowledge the possibility it was meant in a sexual way
