The mute on the bass really seems unnecessary with an octave pedal and even more so with a filter.
with such low volume coming into it, it's not really going to open up. Not for the sound I like anyway
Mute makes the notes more plucky/punchy. It's effect on volume doesn't really matter as you can just turn the output up and or adjust the sensitivity on the envelope filter. Muted bass through a boss sub octave gets almost an 808 like tone

do yourself a favor and get some flatwounds and a little piece of foam. changed my approach to bass completely.

Not exactly. The TR-808's kick drum (perhaps it's most famous sound) is basically a low sine wave. It is often tuned/pitched to play sub bass notes in modern hip-hop production.

Instruments are a thing of the past. Let's focus on computers and vocals and computer enhanced vocals.
There is no skill or soul in pushing computer buttons. As for enhanced vocals. WTF??? Too many singers rely on "enhancement". Hear a singer without pitch correct or auto tune and then you'll realize a lot of them are shit at it.
Give me a proper musician - whichever instrument- any day over a computer geek.

i love this sound i do it all time. but for bass players wanting to do this. the OC-3 is utter shit. its dog shit. its horse shit. its human feces. its so bad. i have one and replaced it long ago for a whammy and that works waaaaaaaaaaaay better for me. OC-2 is alright tho. OC-3 is a bag of shit. the DOD meatbox is probably the best for this type of sound i think
