Back in the day when Top Gear was an interesting motoring programme and not a lads day out extravaganza. Quentin Wilson was such an interesting and informative presenter.

I bought a lot of used cars when I was younger and a few more recently. Quentin Wilson's advice saved me a lot of pain.

I have a French car, a C5 , bought new in 2003 and is running perfectly and love it. It is an HDi 2.2 litre and is very comfortable which is what I like and is a reliable car. Fully loaded for the time is has all I want, also I have a C3 Pluriel bought new in 2005 and is running beautifully. Both cars are serviced every year and any repairs or replacement for worn out parts are then done.

13:17 I think it's better to say that paying what reputable dealers charge you is the true market price of problem-free motoring. Sure, you can have a lucky day and find a problem-free car at a shady place for dirt cheap, but do the same thing 10 times, and it's much more likely you'll end up with a real lemon, and pay much more than the said market price.

I see plenty of old french cars on the road. Rovers? Barely any or any other english brand. they all dissolved.

@@utubeleplague Thats not true. The last generation of Rovers are still a regular sight on the roads. If you compare models of the '90s there are generally more Rovers left than the equivalent Citroën if you check the DVLA Data base. 2200 Metros vs 528 Citroën AX. 312 Austin Maestros vs 240 Citroën BXs etc.
