What are your thoughts on the bearskin hats?
Destroying a bear for no reason is insane and criminal.
Disgusting.

Don’t ask stupid questions designed to boost your algorithm. It’s disingenuous, manipulative, condescending, contemptuous, and painfully transparent. If someone has thoughts on [X], and they want to share them, they’ll share them. That’s how youtube, twitter, facebook, reddit, the entire internet, works.
You may as well say _“Don’t forget to click 'reply' and mash your keyboard! It does’t even need to be real words. I have no intention of ever reading or responding to them, and I couldn’t care less what you think.”_
At least that way people could respect you for being honest.
Rhetorical question: If someone IRL treated you the way you treat your viewers, would you want to be friends with them?
And for the love of God, don’t double down. None of my points are debatable. Simply take a moment for quiet reflection. If it helps, you can pretend you never even read it.
i am a retired member of the Welsh guards . synthetic bearskins where used back when i joined back in 1973 . it isn't new . also the bearskin goes back to the French grenadiers . the busby , which is mistakenly connected goes back to the Hungarian hussars .
It seems like you and me are the only one who knows about the foot guards
Don’t you agree they should really learn about them before they make a video of them and instead of calling them “royal guards” they say The Foot Guards or whatever regiment of the Foot Guards division?
They changed back to the authentic bearskins near 2000 as the synthetic ones absorbed in water while the real ones repelled it
There are five regiments of foot guards in the British army, all belong to the Guards Division. Each has a veritable combat history and are primarily front line troops.
Not one of the regiments is known as the Royal guard as each provides troops for the Royal Household on a rotating basis. As Britain’s senior regiments they do most of the ceremonial work alongside the two Household cavalry regiments. BTW, the Grenadier Guards was the first to wear the bearskin, twenty years before the other regiments. The Royal Scots Grays, a Dragoon Regt.have worn them for longer.
The bears are killed anyway, so at least the skins are not wasted. A bit like the cow hide (leather) shoes you have on.
Tell em, Do they forget leather belts, shoes, Furniture, leather chaps, etc...🤦🏽

@@julianaylor4351 yep that’s true.
Pretty sure it doesn’t take 1 bear to make 1 hat either 🙄
Why do I feel this is another kick at the British Royals and our proud MOD! It's no different than leather sofas! Those men and women did us proud on Monday like every other day!
I thinking the Danes also have these as well.
The Bearskins are actually passed on to new Guardsmen when they join the Regiments, new ones are not made specifically fo reach Guardsmen.
Royal Guards wearing Napoleonic-era uniforms while armed with SA80 bullpup rifles seems surreal to me.
Because when they're not doing that, they are actual soldiers. The soldiers you see on horseback, are tank drivers on a battlefield.
it not Napoleonic-era uniforms there more like late Victorian era uniforms and in Grenadier Complains and Scottish British regiments in the British army were wearing and sort of Bear skin head dress from late 1700s
Theyre not napoleonic uniforms, they are modern uniforms. They arent reenactors, they are real soldiers wearing the same army uniforms their forefathers wore.
Thanks for sharing 👍😀

@@carolalmond278 : All animal populations need to be monitored. If it werent for hunters there would be thousands more deaths on our roads each year just from deer alone. Bears are no different in that an area of ground can only support X amount of bears, this is an unfortunate result of progress and civilization but most of us are intelligent enough to understand that humans and animals are not on the same level no matter how cool they are.

@@daniellastuart3145 so were the Prussians, and several other European countries, they in some way adapted the bear skin hat in various forms or another the British bore the brunt of Nepolians army and its regiments decided the royal guards were to wear the hat who knows why thats a kings decision
Big headgear and large epoulettes were originally designed to make the wearers look physically bigger and therefore, intimidating before battle commenced, (when armies faced each other across open fields).
They did try artificial material but they were useless, these bears are culled anyway so it's not as if they go out killing them just for hats however I get why people don't like it, myself I'm not a fan of this eitherv

What’s the true origin of that hat ? Try again!
They are now days all synthetic btw 😊
Looks to me like a half drunk soldier standing at attention..lol.
The Lifeguards wear their strap under the lip and The Blues and Royals wear them under the chin.
The hats are a tradition and how does the tradition have relevance as a necessity today?
🤔if there should be any change to the uniform the kings guards that wear them should have a say. As some of their families, have done it many years. just as the Position Itself is Upheld out respect.
Let them test the change in hat Or any part of the uniform. And vote or sign the position for change. After all they are the ones wearing it every single day. Being Respectful to the leadership and position And tradition To which they faithfully serve.
Perhaps giving them this choice would be a respect Shown in return for their faithful service.🤔

Under what influence was the guy who designed the uniforms? Giant hats on one, neck ruffles, a maze kilt, and Xmas ornaments on the hat of the other.
Military uniforms are not about comfit
That's a lot of dead bears.
I think is DISCUSTING what they do to black bears just to wear as a hat as a royal guard ,it's a discrace ,and wearing a lions mane as a tossul on top of a royal guards head ,I'm horrified by it,there's plenty of hats you can wear that are fake fur, those guard are a discrace wearing an animal that was slaughtered just to stand for a few hours to shout at people if they want a picture taken with them it makes me so 😡,

I think it’s disgusting that someone has extremely poor grammar and spelling. But I don’t get all angry about it.
I also find it disturbing that someone can rant about a subject they know nothing about.
The fur is a byproduct of an annual cull of black bears by the Canadian government. The bears are culled because they have no natural predators and tend to over run areas close to towns and cities. Go and shout at the Canadians if you are that worried.
Wearing fur goes back to the dawn of mankind, tried and trusted. Get over it, it's not ike they are endangered.
when you consider that one bear has to die to make just one hat, & that the bears are wild ones, this does seem like a very bad idea. if only real bearskin will do, then why not breed the bears on farms, as one does with cows or sheep?. much more ethical.
So a bear bred on a farm does not deserve to live like a wild bear?
@@peterbrown1012 what i am saying is that it is wiser to purpouse-breed bears, for thei'r skins, as these would always be plentiful & avalable, than to keep on killing all those bears in the wild, umtil there are fewer & fewer wild bears, so that, eventualy, the wild ones may become extinct.
@@ayounglivelysoulinanoldtir3512 they are culled, that means the authorities determin that there are to many bears in the wild so they need reducing, try looking up facts before making fanciful statements.
The skins are a byproduct of an annual cull carried out by the Canadian government. The bears are not killed for their skins, they are culled to control numbers.
@@Backs4more "control numbers", yeah, sure, great idea, until, eventualy, with all this "control", the bears will become more & more scarse, then, a century from now, they'll be on the edge of extinction, & you'll have " save the bear" charities, campains & protests springing up. strange how the human race is the most inteligent species on earth, yet, at the same time, one of the stupidist!

One of the bears shown was standing next to a chain link fence, so are these bears "culled" through canned hunting? That is soooooo barbaric. Why don't they just reintroduce bear-baiting in the tower?
All that shows is how easily you are influenced by the media. The bear footage will be stock footage. The only link between the bear cull and a chain link fence is in your mind.
That looks like a zoo. Probably stock footage.
The bear skins are bought from the Canadian government. The skins are a by-product of a cull that the Canadians carry out. Only a handful of skins are bought each year.
