Lyrics
When you're out in the crowd
Trying to make it all pay
And we're telling the world
Everything that you said
Every word that you say
And we're taking it down
Every word of it's true
And you got to get free
Every shot that you take
And you've got to get loose
And all of it's true
Written in silver
It's only the blues
Written in new words
And all of it's true
Written in silver
It's only the blues
Written in new words
We got all of the law
And there's nothing to prove
We got all of the dream
Yeah and all of it's free
We got nothing to lose
When your vanity fades
I know it's not you
And you got to get straight
Every step that you take
And you got to get cool
And all of it's true
Written in silver
It's only the blues
Written in new words
And all of it's true
Written in silver
It's only the blues
Written in new words
Listen we got it all
We're gonna make it all pay
We got all of the dream
And we're telling the world
Every word that you say
And we're taking it down
Every word of it's true
Yeah you got to get free
Every step that you take
And you've got to get loose
And all of it's true
It's written in silver
It's only the blues
Written in new words
And all of it's true
Written in silver

absolutely killer track. probably *the* most underrated Furs song.
I know some Psych Furs fans that hardly remember it, if they remembered it at all!!!
I just heard this for the first time on Pandora, yesterday. It's been on repeat for an hour now 😀
Fun Fact: This song was recorded as a take with the whole band playing together. instruments were NOT tracked individually. This is why it sounds different from the other songs on the M2M album, and why it's a standout.
it has a, uh, nice sound, by gosh.. these boys play fairly well together when they wanna, yeah? ha ha
One of the most underrated songs ever
You are correct, Sir ☺️ !!!
Not only the song also the band.
When I heard this song for the first time in 1990, I must have listened to it 10 times in a row, since then until today the song has a special significance for me, for me a masterpiece of the late 80s.

@ Lalo Silva : Maybe it should be "Written in Silva"? Thanks so much !!! ☺️😁😇
He's not only got a good distinct voice but a extremely great lyricist.
I like the way his accent comes out in his singing.
Best song ever.
This song is ahead of its time, it deserves to be among the grunge hits of the 90s between stone temple pilots and alice inchais. Love it!!
The solo is very Alice in Chains like indeed!
@@patrickstary8496 I believe this pre-dates Alice In Chains by several years. No ?
Sounds like Suede.
Or Suede sounded like them.
i heard this tune in my head last night late as I mopped endless vacant hallways and thought about the amazing lyrics and was happy the tune played as clear as bell in my mind nice work guys
I am happy for you that you have great tunes in your head, you must be a happy guy with this. This is such a great song !!
I love all the Furs, but this song was my theme song on its release on my high school graduation saw them live in my graduation garb!
AND ALL OF ITS TRUE. it's only the blues.. keep moving forward...
Without a doubt my favourite Furs song
It's a real close tie with The Ghost In You.
@@paulbuswell6566 there's so many! i'd love a few more, (hint-hint!) love-my-way, was me first love, but this one's effing not-too-shabby, ha ha
Well I must confess that it took me about 40 years to agree with you. I had this record since the 80s but the song was than not standing out at that time. Now I realized that this song was the best of the whole album. I am a bit of slow learner.
@@MD-ru5vs it's not the greatest dawnce tune, but i'm no dawncer anyways.. ha ha...
I just heard this for the first time on Pandora, yesterday. It's been on repeat for an hour now 😀
Glad you found it. It's always been my favorite.
MY FAVE FUR TOON..
Love it , I really love it!
Awesome awesome tune!
AMAZINGLY GOOD.
"when your vanity fades, I know it's not you!"
all of it's true/written in silver...
is richard still alive I had tickets to leesburg show and tour with the church in silver spring md... but got locked up both times....
Great great song..........Electric
Flawless band.
Excellent 80's song, as only they can do it!
Its a pop version of Killing Joke- produced by Chris Kimsey right after he had done 2 Joke albums-good track though mind
i luv it....
@@Xythantiops It reminds me of The Hum, if Kimsey had produced it instead of Conny Plank
Paul Garisto on percussion is the man.
They dirtied up their approach on this track -- with a real gritty Stonesy-type riff blaring throughout but the magic is in the string ensemble and Butler's tough vocals. These guys knew what they were doing. Should've been huge.
I think they would have been bigger if they stayed in the UK
To me and mine they WERE huge......alongside The Cure and Echo and The Bunnymen.
that drummer's gonna bust his frickin' snare drum, but this track's worth several of those, what the hey! now it's recorded for-all-time! how cool is that, right? perfecto!
this band, had the best band, they were lucky to have 'em! they better be makin' more records as we speak! this was an awful long time ago: i was only like 22 when this came out, yo~ 1987, right? tick-tock, doc!
that snare drum took some-hella-punishment, -damn, man~
I almost simultaneously cried and pissed myself when they played this in Flagstaff AZ in 2017.
Played in Apeche Junction down here..a master piece.
I got 7 words:ROCK N ROLL HALL OF FAME NOW....TJ STRUSKA

in a good way, in a good way, here's to you, josh! good man! and all-of-it's-true:
i wonder who josh was... he's been written outta-this-reality, apparently...i wonder who else was... how will we ever know~?

I know Richard felt he'd sold out with this album..But this is an amazing song.
The killing furs!?
talk talk talky, but why may i ask my leige?
Good song I admit, but I prefer High Wire Days. But good song.....
Yes..very observant..Robert at 69.
持ちつ持たれつ…ここで誰も譲らなかったら湾岸方面が渋滞になる
Let’s face it this album sucked but this one song redeems the whole thing.
no-effing-way, jose! y'gotta get free every step-that-you-take, and y'gotta-get-loose! and all-of-it's-true! listen again, but while yer doin' yer homework: do yer homework, son! report back later, and thank me then~ ha ha!
What about Heartbreak Beat though-really great surely?!
i must admit, at the time, i wasn't so into it, tho we were the biggest furs fans by then, but i mean it took many repetitions and replays for the heaviness to sink in... the frequency seems a bit laggy, but they still had a lotta time, or so it seemed, i guess?
a moderate tempo is the most sensible medium, from certain perspectives... it might be fun to slow it way down: let's try that soon, ha ha
Well...uhh..it's 'O.K.' at that @@brucedanton3669
