For future reference just use a heat gun for a few seconds on the plastic parts. It will pop right out and same thing on the new pieces. No need to pry or use any other tools

Fantastic walk through. Ordered the parts and competed fix. I must say it's a fantastic improvement. Thanks again for a great video.

If you microwave a cup of water with the ball in it for about 30-45 seconds it makes it a bit softer to pop on much easier without cracking it.

Best to soak the small ball joint in hot water then pop it in. Softens it vs possible cracking

just did this, definitely slop in the middle piece and bushing, the spring also not as strong compared to the new one. strongly suggest replace all three. my shifting wasn't bad but now its definitely more precise. thanks for the video, probably the most informative one out there. the middle plastic piece took me forever to get them off lol

Which part wears out the most? What exactly do you feel differently with new parts?

    • @623baller

@@Sunny-s1de tighter shifts. just replace everything, its costs close to nothing might as well get it done all at the same time

I guess I'll have to that to my 2004 S2000 sooner or later. I bought it in June this year. It's red like yours.

I’d replace the plastic pivot ball with a brass one, makes a worlds difference.

If you do this assembly, please dip the plastic pieces in hot water first.

    Ok I just did this.
It’s easy enough but moving the rubber around to take off the shift assembly really sucked. I hope you have long Asian hands because I cut the shit out of my hand few times. Another thing is when you put everything back, you have to press the shifter as you move around the rubber piece to put screw back. OMG what a pain in the ass !!!!
After all this, my shifter is awesome and I love it. Good thing I won’t have to do this again for long time.
