We need more forced vaccinations, lockdowns and more money squandering to make progressive politics great again.

Trust me, more than Vermont will be in attendance.
bernie represents what our politics SHOULD be. he may have never won the presidency, but he will have a lasting legacy stronger than most presidents.
As someone watching in the UK, i wish you had more people like Bernie in US politics.
I wish we had more politicians in Canada like Bernie.
Believe ne, I do too!!
such people are also needed, but God forbid give them power!
Me too!! And I live in the U.S.
Margaret's dig at the end about the question she asked was revealing. He said he's conducted 1000s of interviews and no one ever asked him about the core issues that could actually affect change. She had to get in her jab about "I asked all the questions I wanted. Not necessarily the questions you wanted." Margaret, that's kind of the point: none of the journalists over all the long decades have ever wanted to ask those questions. I'd say that's a strong condemnation of the current state of the profession.
I actually like Margaret for the most part but at times she does get a little threatened or overbearing with that I'm the woman in charge schtick. I don't know if it's what the leaders there are demanding of her or it's just part of her own individual gestalt.
@@petemavus2948 Agreed. She's obviously a cut (or three) above the typical circus performers on other "news" networks. I think that's why her dig at the end really stood out to me. Her interviews tend to be substantive and she usually carries herself in a solid, professional fashion.
@@Ansset76👍I think when we get a taste of professionalism and more expansive 'reporting' and interviewing we want more and demand (her in this case) "do better".
The first time I saw Margaret get her 'hard hitting' panties in a bunch 😉 was with Pete Buttigieg . I give her credit for being able to book the people many of us would rather hear about/from though. It seems if they appear the public's "Darling" of the moment she tends to come at them as hard hitting sometimes to her and the topics/ interviews demise. It's all good and definitely better than most of the fodder, divisiveness and sound 'bite me' out there. 🤣 Meanwhile...Stay 🌉 Well and Stay 🇺🇸 Tuned... ✌️
Subsequently, she failed to ask the questions *we* want answered.
@@vrth0mas established and agreed. 👍
Goooo Bernie! For nearly 50 years Bernie has fought for the working class and somehow Margaret feels the need to set a very adversarial tone to her questioning. Nothing like pretending NOT to be part of the corporate media structure by carrying their water.
If you had watched her deal with Republican asshats on this show you'd have a different view of her, I think. She is being paid a lot for being there so of course she's part of the CBS corp culture.
I agree with your comment! I too thought she was VERY adversarial..almost 'goading' to him for a debate. This is why I do not watch her regularly - this wasn't a one off - she does this all the time...but I just had to watch and see what Bernie had to say. And he's never really wavered in what he's been saying for years. And he did not disappoint me today either.
@@lisamcbarron6047 well said!
Thank you for your reply @@yvonneplant9434 but I must disagree. How she treats others regardless of party affiliation doesn't excuse her lack of professionalism. Instead of actually interviewing Bernie and asking him why he stated what he did about the corporate media, then allowing him to explain his point of view, Margaret attacks his statement without any real analysis. Another example of a journalistic miss is when she asks Bernie if Bill Gates is a billionaire he likes which can mislead viewers to believe that Bernie hates Billionaires. Fighting against the policies that favor and benefit the rich (not just billionaires) and those in that class that use their power to influence and abuse our system of government not only to their benefit but to the detriment of the working class and the less fortunate. Lastly, if she this is just the way she is with all guests then maybe we shouldn't call her a journalist. Editorial contributor would make a better title. Again, hank you for replying. I appreciate the conversation.
@Dennis Gpe. Maybe we should just not tune in to her and any of the others like her. Boycott corporate media. They just want to pit one against the other politician. They could care less about covering important issues.
I tuned in to listen to Bernie. Otherwise I don't watch any of these (fill in the blank). Not journalist. More like antagonists.

Love Bernie!! He is so wonderful and caring about the common working population.
No one can compete with Bernie's greatness and concern for others.
His 3 mansions worth millions would disagree with you
@@7thpilot Bernie`s last lake front home cost him 575.000 I read on Google, and looks somewhat like a log home. Not overly impressive. Be that as it may, governors and x-governors all live in super duper homes. I have worked in mansions (I like them, they are lovely) but the pic on google does not even vaguely resemble a mansion. I do not know what the other 2 homes look like, although once you roused my curiosity, I sure did want to see. Cost of homes may be decided by the cost of land. In the town, in which I live, there is a 1 room shack type thing for sale, I kid you not, for a million bucks. I was shocked. Who would buy this? But this is a tourist town . . .so who knows. This little shack used to be a place which sold candy, when I was a kid. I wish I could send you a picture, but I`m not savvy. I don`t even own a cell phone. Anyway, enjoy your spring. Hopefully better days are coming.
@@marjoriegoodwin2993 The election isnt for 2 years but I will be patient
Other politicians (the smart ones at least) could easily dismantle these corporate puppets, because they are corporate puppets themselves and know exactly how the game works. They just choose not to because, well, they are corporate puppets.
This man is the real deal, and the American people missed a massive opportunity to better this country by not electing him as president. Bernie is ahead of his time, but maybe someday we will truly value someone like him.
Hopefully in his lifetime with an even greater position for his dedication and love for our Country and people's.

The saddest part is that he has had to talk about the same thing for 40 years.
Yup. Even if you disagree with his politics, the guy is uniquely consistent. In Washington DC, where consistency is driven by the power of the dollar, that’s impressive.
He is all talk. Hot air. He has not authored any bill that has passed into law regarding any issue he has been parroting like a broken record for four decades.
@@marquitamarina1486 you are aware that one person in congress cannot pass a bill on their own? What Bernie’s been doing is inspiring a younger generation, and moving the needle in the right direction. Proposals like Medicare being able to negotiate drug prices weren’t nearly as talked about or likely of passing before his presidential run.
@@liamjolly7814 I'll add to that Bernie's initial point was that all Republicans and some corporate Democrats are against legislation that would help the middle class at the expense of Billionaires. He talked about the compromises made as an example of how bad the situation is. If we had more Democrats who didn't take corporate money, Bernie would have passed a lot more legislation.

He speaks so very clearly and informed on every issue thrown at him, doesn't dodge or obfuscate at all and his conversation about the future of taxation when companies more to more robotics is VITAL to the revolution that will happen in the workplace, whether we want it to or not. Of course companies have to keep paying taxes on an equal level or higher than today even if they reduce their workforce, and of course we should start looking at moving to shorter workhours and weeks for workers, to benefit from new technology and progress our lives. 2) Gave up about the $15/ hr minimum wage - had a chance not to sign a bill omitting this , but he did anyway .

Exactly Margaret. Thank you for proving Bernie’s point. People can see those were of course your go to questions for him. We know exactly where you and your bosses stand. Folks forget that local newspapers are the backbone of a country. That in the U.S. public broadcasting, which was federally funded, allowed many programs to prosper and continue on to this day. The over privatization of mainstream media is what’s caused the absurdity in the distribution of information, that we have to deal with today. Personally, the only reason I watched this video was because Bernie’s name is on it. Otherwise, I am not really interested in these big networks’ corporate guided programming. Such a disappointment that critical issues like the ones Bernie mentioned are never profoundly addressed and discussed w/o any corporate agenda on these TV programs.
I have to tell you I've worked for local papers. They're a problem too
I felt like she asked good questions and let him answer fully. He wasn't tricked and she didn't go for the scoop at th expense of the information. She was well documented and savvy and the discussion went just fine. If she has to agree with him fully and serve him the soupe, then I would be worried. But it feels like anyone who wouldn't agree with him fully has to be bought.
I hear a lot of people complaining about the corporate media and I agree on the principle (media and corporate are two words that shouldn't go well together).
That said, I've watched a LOT of independent media shows on the internet and boy they are so propaganda driven and often mean spirited. The narrative is king there.
The cognitive biases are all over the place ad they are not informing. They are selling their ideology at any cost. And more often than not, they are attacking each other, even though they are supposed to be on the same side. And the reason is simple: they all want to establish themselves as the new reference and be considered as the new independent but mainstream thing (which is also contradictory). Therefore, it's not just about informing now, it's also about smearing their colleagues. All in all, it's a mess, painful to watch, and their news are tainted.
In my view, them as an alternative is worst than the corporate media at this point.
So, yes, corporate media isn't ideal nor is it objective. But we all know objectivity doesn't exist. As long as you know what you are watching/reading and their affiliation, you can decode the information.
Don't expect one media to inform you, you are supposed to read/watch a large spectrum of them to have a pretty good picture of any situation. Informing yourself is your responsibility alone.
And, in my experience, the worst at this point in time is those independent channels. Sometimes I can't even tell if they are better or worst than Fox News and I'm not exaggerating.
So I don't really understand your complaint here since Bernie is 100% given the chance to express his views and none of his words were twisted. The mood was friendly and she knew her topic very well. So what is the problem?
Thank you my fellow American. Thank you. I think it's time to organize & come together. Past time.
I love hearing him speak truth, it’s so refreshing
Bernie the Con Man. Nothing refreshing about him. Same old Bernie. Oh and he sucks up to media. LIAR!
First time Margaret did not have to try to pry the truth out of a slippery eel. You can tell she and Bernie enjoyed the company and the banter they had. A real great piece of broadcasting only Margaret can do.
@@carlhokanson9160 Yeah, people are rough on her but it's the concentrated control and ownership of the major mainstream news that allows only so much. The general public isn't much better at doing it's own homework no matter the topic. Both she and Bernie can only do so much as far as most quality and effectiveness in the tiny segments allotted. I thought they made the most of it and enjoyed it as much as I did. I'll listen to them, Sheldon Whitehouse, Katie Porter, Pete and others anytime. Working Class people worry about being wiped out by medical bills. BUT THE DEBATE MARGARET - would people pay higher taxes if they did not have to pay impossible medical bills? Wherever your sympathies may reside Margaret, you ARE a member of the elite Establishment. Most of the rest of us are not. Bernie is right to criticize big media and question what influences them. Corporate media is corporate friendly. Well done, Bernie.
Yes. Tax me. Take care of me. Care Ethics; there should be benefits to being citizens of this wealthy nation of unwealthy people.
Exactly!!!!
People have so much power but they are not using it because of selfishness or just ignorance, people can shut those media companies in days by just turning the dem thing off, and they can change the system of government by just no one voting for anyone until the system is changed, that if only people can get together in one voice.
@@MrManny075 So true.
Thank you for having Bernie on the show. He's a breath of fresh air.
He didn't pull any punches either
Big time. But I miss new episodes of "Curb Your Enthusiasm"
"Free" health care. There is no such thing as ANYTHING free. Snake oil salesman Bernie, and supporting Biden, no less. FRAUD!
He a breath of hot air. Ticketmaster.
"fresh air"? Nearly every time he speaks he rehashes his 2016 stump speech. I admire his goals for the country, but it's time to let other progressives carry the ball; two failed presidential runs has proven that Bernie has a cap on his electoral viability nationwide.
Literally amazing. Bless you, Bern!
I watch Face The Nation pretty frequently and I can attest they rarely talk about income and wealth inequality. They're primarily focused on division of political parties
God bless Bernie Sanders
This man is truly a man of the people. We love you Bernie❣️. I see that cape under your suit coat.
Great work Bernie. You give me hope
Still as sharp as ever, God bless him.
God...I LOVE and miss bernie so much. I'm still feelin' the bern baby!
Need to have Sen. Bernie Sanders on more often. He's honest and reliable for getting things done! Bernie for President!
Getting things done? Take a look at Bernie's record of non-accomplishment in the Senate. Former Democratic Congressman Barney Frank observed that Bernie is too dogmatic and ideological to be able to work well with others who may not fall in line with him 100%. Bernie would fare far better in an authoritarian system of government in which cooperation is not required.
Bernie is 81? Wow! He's *insanely* sharp. I pray that I can be that lucid in my 80's.
I Love everything about this wonderful smart man Bernie Sanders is. Thank you always. Much love always..xoxoxo
Bernie! Thank you for sharing your platform with Senator Sanders🙏💖👏
We are so grateful for the good Senator's crusade to help everyone, especially the working class, the hard working men and women, the children and elderly Americans yearning for even just the basics from the country they love💞💗💞
I. Love. That. Man.
What a good soul

@@galacthicc693 Thanks for the algorithm, I don't care for McDonald's guess where I won't be eating anytime soon.

He's done nothing in Congress but yell. Hence why he appeals mainly to simpletons and the naïve.
Bernie is always so gracious, especially given how passive aggressive, and out right aggressive, the media is to him. Be nice if the media went after corporate democrats and Republicans half as aggressively as they do Bernie. He just keeps staying on point, no matter how they go after him. The man is the most consistent and focused politician I've ever seen.
Agreed. But Jamie Raskin, Hakeem Jeffries, Maxine Waters, and some of the new blood are working at it too. Their numbers have increased and, with the old guard stepping back a bit, they have the opportunity to make it count.

Margaret led a great interview.
She spews right wing propaganda just like Fox News. What a joke.
disagree with your last point. she asked "how can we lower prescription drugs for Americans without hurting innovation"
that is a completely disingenuous bad faith question, because it relies on the assumption that without price gouging Americans over prescription drugs there would be no innovation. which is demonstrably false.
@@saml302 exactly. It’s right wing propaganda in disguise.
@@saml302 I'm glad that she let Bernie expand on the issues.
@@monica93304 agreed :) hope you have a great rest of your holiday weekend
When Bernie talks, I carefully listen. Those to the right have been very effective in labeling him as a radical socialist when all he has ever wanted is for all US citizens to have a fair chance at a good life. His determination and courage makes him a true hero to me. It is hard for me to imagine anyone being able to replace him when the time comes...
I would like to see him also challenge people to "pull themselves up..." more, rather than looking for handouts... that's my only problem with him, although I love him. Focus more on giving people resources than a handout. Medicare for all is great... but I would love to see him focus also on antitrust, and overhauling the education system to teach and train ppl with real, valuable skills rather than simply pushing to raise the minimum wage. Low wages are a symptom, but not the root of the problem...but Rome wasn't built in a day so we can start with Medicare for all.
I agree with much of what you wrote, especially the parts about ensuring that people have the skills to succeed, antitrust, education reform (I taught for 26 years. The curriculum is very outdated, and not suitable for non academic students). The one crucial tenet that I believe is missing for many is: HOPE. People have to believe that the playing field is fair enough for them to commit the effort to participate; to believe that their efforts will pay off. Sometimes giving one a free push can give them the incentive to continue to strive forward.@@marcjones744
This was a great interview. These ‘longer’ interviews which I want to see more of are much more informative than a 5 min sound bite.
Is it me or has Margaret been trying to do this with better candidates? Wasn't Sheldon Whitehouse on too like this?
What about this interview was informative to you, and not something we've all heard Bernie reiterate a million times purely on an ideological level?
There would be no questions about age if Bernie was in the White House.. He is sharp, dynamic, well spoken, tireless, and dedicated. He is amazing!
