Like the " Hulk " comics when Banner is walking around and Hulk is the child Id/ego commenting on things around him grumpily.
Hulk picks up a rock and says, " Pretty."
Banner ego watching twin tv sets goes into a 5 paragraph monolog on the rocks geological history on how that rock was formed.
Hulk toss the rock and annoyance under his breath says, " I just it was pretty. " Not needing a science lecture over it.
What has been gather over the years and from people work under his command from legends.
Down days, you stay away if you can and just leave Vader to mop and work on his starfighter. Its safer and you live longer that way.
On .. UP .. days, Vader inspects repair teams and working on maintenance tips along with combat training drills. If you can keep up and meet the stander, you get promotions and pay increase with pensions, set for life with early retirement commanding safe locations.
      Examplees, ..
a.) Vader on a destroyer bridge with low-ranking officers informing Vader they can only push the fleet ships' hyperdrive so far before they would have to start leave ships behind losing formation.
Anakin thinking just give me a single troop transport and I can get there Faster, so I can wreck things Faster. Only if we/ I can go faster.
Vader saying out load to no one really to notice, " Patience is a virtue of its own reward."
Internal/outer tone, of don't try or temp my patience.
b.) Emperor commands Vader in front of fleet officers broad cast to lead the ground assault. To display the Imperial might.
Vader walks to the nearest escape pod calling 6 troopers with him. Vader leads the ground assault of six storm troopers/ space marines. "The pacing of the launching and landing craft was just too dam slow. You know what slow is don't you ?"
c.) In my last two rpg D&D/Star Wars gaming shops " fan head canon," because of Dark Horse comics covering the Clone Wars. They had a comic where the last surviving man from a ground assault with Vader was an old clone with replacement parts. The clone was talking the Ol'days when it all started and now he can rejoin his lost brothers. The clone asked Vader if he always had head trauma, cause over the years the more he served under lord Vader the more he seemed to be Anakin. Then shock his head spite vile said F-Jedi. Anakin agreed with the clone F-Jedi and over the years he is just Anakin no Jedi, just a soldier with replacement parts waiting to rejoin his lost brothers.
In another story, Clone war Anakin defeated and spared a raider warlord. In the Dark Times series Vader made her a planet governor, and Luke had to deal with her. This was Dark Horse legends comics that came out during the Prequal release.
When Vader was first coming into power during the early years of the empire, he pulled in everyone Anakin was impress with. Those people that worked shoulder to shoulder with him and manage to retire. The few that knew just moved pasted, till something happens and Vader/Anakin makes a Clone War battle reference that only one or two senior officers got the joke. They were tie in Clone War characters into comic to novel Jedi New Order with their Vong war. Into the Legace Era comics.
Despite canon or not over the years, it was just a cash grab, and only overly nerdy fan would take the time to track the C.& D. side plot background characters stretch over a few novels and years.

You did an excellent job of summarizing it and brought back so many good emotional levels from when I initially read this series. Bringing up all the prior and post events ties this in so well. I would love to see this comic book adapted into a live action series. It would work perfectly taking place in between the events of ESB and ROTJ. Bringing back Natalie Portman to play Sabe' even though the part was originally played by Keira Knightly in the movie. Have Hayden play Vader again as well, reuniting the two.

"Vader became fixated on young Skywalker and exacting revenge on those responsible for keeping him hidden."
Vader should've figured out already that it was Obi-wan who was hiding Luke from him all those years. Vader knew that Obi-wan took Padme off of Mustafar while she was still pregnant. Vader also knew that Obi-wan lied to Luke about his father being dead. Then, he discovered that they were onboard the millennium falcon that blasted its way out of Tatooine. Finally, when Vader took away Luke's lightsaber, he noticed that its the same lightsaber that Obi-wan stole from him after their fight on Mustafar.
This should've been obvious to Vader at this point.

      @beesnipes Před 6 měsíci +5

While this is true and you raise a great point, I think Vader did know it was old Kenobi behind it all and it's more of the fact of just not knowing where he is. You'd really expect him to go to the really far outer regions of the galaxy or maybe even the unknown space. If you really think about it, I don't think anybody could have guessed he was hiding out on Tatooine. That kind of plays into Obi Wans character as well. Such a G

Actually the light saber that Obi Wan gave him was lost on Bespin. The one he took from Luke was the new one he built that looked very similar to the one that Obi Wan carried and nothing like the one that Anakin/Vader carried. So that part of your theory is incorrect. Even the dialog the Emperor says, "Ah, a Jedi's weapon. A great deal like your father's", is also not true as I already stated it looked almost identical to the one Obi Wan carried and would have been the only other light saber he would have seen, until he fought Vader on Bespin.

I'm not talking about the green lightsaber that Luke built in Return of the Jedi. I'm referring to the blue lightsaber that he had in both A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back.
There's a Star Wars comic book that showed Luke and Vader meeting prior to their fight on Cloud City and there's a moment where Vader force-grabbed Luke's lightsaber. Vader was about to decapitate Luke with 2 lightsabers (just like he did with Count Dooku) until he discovered that the blue lightsaber is the same weapon that Obi-wan stole from him after their fight on Mustafar.
That lightsaber alone should've told Vader that Luke is his son because he knew Padme was still pregnant the last time he saw her.

Anakin turned because the emperor was feeding him images of Padme dying. His love for Padme and the emperor saying he would show him how to conquer death was why he turned. Little did he know that when Vader took over that caused Padme’s death.

The films should have done something to show some conflict in Vader long before the end. If you go by the films alone, all we have pretty much is a mass murderer who repents on his death bed. How many people are going to buy that? I guess what I'm saying is that it's just not a very convincing end to that story. Anakin wasn't the brightest person, but surely there must have been dozens of times when he realized Palpatine had lied to him, so there are opportunities for doubt.

A nice tale but I have a hard time seeing anything out of Disney era as canon. Luke turned Anakin. He didn't tell his son in his last breath, "Tell your sister your mother was right about me". He said, "Tell your sister YOU were right". With the way Disney absolutely trashed Luke Skywalker in the sequels, its easy for them to go back and write a comic that further undermines his importance in defeating the Sith and saving his father when everyone else had given up on him.

Mental break or psychosis, people who do such horrendous acts sometimes develop a split personality that accepts all the evil a person does and is sort of the shield that protects the innocent side of a person, most serial killers have this trait they can function in normal society for years but their rage and violent tendencies surface and take control of their better half and the evil personality will tell themselves it wasn't your own fault . And when Palpatine declared Anakin to be Vader he became that persona and in his broken mind Anakin no longer existed he was Vader who could kill without compassion or mercy to Vader he wasn't Anakin doing all those things it was Vader.

@@ElTwOJaY Except current canon confirms they are split personalities in the same body. There were instances when Vader got out, like the time Anakin snapped on the sand people and Clovis. When Anakin was forced to choose between Palpatine and the Jedi, his mind fractured and Vader fully took over; as the fear of losing Padme was too much to handle. At that point, Anakin was suppressed by Vader, but glimpses of his personality tried to get out. The Force itself also recognizes them as separate entities; which is why Anakin returns to being his youthful self after becoming a ghost.
