    • @TheMangoMussolini
      @TheMangoMussolini Před měsícem +1

      Do you understand how insurance works in England? If you want to borrow a car, you have a few options when it comes to insurance: You could take out your own policy, get added as a named driver for the vehicle you are borrowing, or use your current annual policy (check first to see if a Driving Other Cars (DOC) option is included). This system is used in a good part, if not most, of the world. So, what "update" would you suggest to make it more sensible?

    I don’t know if this is a thing over in the UK but where I live in New Jersey along with 39 other states in the US do some kind of routine vehicle inspections. In my state, they require the inspection to be done every two years but vehicles that are brand new will get a five-year inspection sticker. The sticker is usually an eye-catching color and has a giant number in the middle of it. The color corresponds to a year and the big number in the middle of it correspond to a month so this way authorities can easily tell if the inspection sticker is still good or if it has expired. I know some states charge a fee, depending on the type of vehicle you have but in New Jersey the inspection is completely free. In New Jersey, I believe they just checked the emissions and that there are no safety issues like malfunctioning seatbelts, and stuff like that but even then I could be wrong on that. I know they will fail you if you have a check engine light on. Anyway, if this is such a major issue that it requires a special task force to be assigned to it in the UK then maybe they should start requiring their own inspections in order to make sure every vehicle meets proper safety standards.

There may be a few garages that are allowed to do the inspections but even then I think they need a special license from the state. I could be wrong on that though. I’m sure there is someway for people to get their vehicle through inspection here or to get fake inspection stickers, but I personally don’t know how one would go about that.

    Rediculous , using high tech and then police time to hunt a car because thechild is sitting in a car without a special seat, for Gods sake, use the money to stop real crime.

      If the child died in an accident I think that would be a crime

      Life itself is hazardous, should one ban all cars because people die in accidents?. Laws are creating the appearance of false hazards, it is fear mongering, and increases the surveillance and intimidation powers of the state. I am not saying it isn’t safer that children are buckled in, but using camera detection and pursuit in this way is just another step in the increasing paranoia and power hunger of those in charge under the guise of health and safety.

      @@mskugged I’m not disagreeing with anything you’ve said but I am a little confused about what you mean by “Fear mongering”?? What exactly is it they’re fear mongering about??

      @@MMCPN It’s part of the continual spiraling of identifying hazards in the modern world, and then introducing legislation and punishments of one kind or another to address them. To many it may seem a rational process, but the result is also an increasing bureaucratizing of society. British society is now so full of rules and regulations that it takes ages to get planning permission, that farmers are so tied up in ridiculous rules and oversight that they can’t make a living, that you risk getting fined to the hilt for things you had no idea was illegal. The argument that you should have known is a bit ridiculous, because a modern life is full of so many things you have to be aware of, that you have no chance. You can’t throw parasites out of your own property because there are rules protecting delinquents and criminals, sometimes these people have tragic social conditions, but why should that put someone else out of pocket. Modern society is so tied up in red tape, and no one has a chance to understand the complexity of it, because “specializing leaves no one with the responsibility for overview. The politicians , who theoretically have that responsibility, are seriously incompetent, how else can describe a class where people like Diane Abbott and Liz Truss manage to get to power. I know I touch on several different issues here, but to me there are too many bureaucrats doing nothing but making life more difficult for people, and identifying issues that should not addressed.
      Sorry to belabour, but in addition, there are so many real problems which are not addressed because resources are spent running around after totally minor issues, real problems such as organized crime, human trafficking, social depravity, illegal immigration, the list is endless.
