As per usual I always forget… Prices are all NZD 😅
Bear with me, I’ll try to remember in the next video 🤦
Remember, you don’t have to have $3400 to start fpv. $400 for budget digital drone, $350 for Dji goggles v2, $120 for radiomaster tx 12, $70 for lipos and your set
Oh absolutely! 110% agree, this was less about starting out and more about trying to match up to be a flagship experience alongside the Mavic 3 Pro 🙂
For long run fpv drone cost more because it crash alot😂 I got one crash into lake, broken motors, lens, arm, burn FC...But never crash a mavic😅 I just recently replace my mavic props after 4years of purchase
I just started FPV with radiomaster tx12 and Mobula 6 HD which both together only cost $250… I plan on getting fat hard scout goggles
@@bebored9420 Is it the Walksnail version of the Mobula?
You don't even need a digital fpv sistem.
You can just fly analog and use a cheap 4k camera which gets the cost much lower.
Thanks Brodie. And cheers to The KiwiQuads team for fixing you up with the stuff you needed to make it happen.
Cliff mate you feeling okay here?? 😯
Kiddin 😉✌️
I’m surprised GoPro still hasn’t figured out the fish eye.
*If you want to start the drone journey* I would fully suggest either DJI Avata or DJI FPV ( both available in combos with goggles and controller 850£/650£ and you set to go ), even tho something like iFlight Nazgul or Geprc mk5 is 10x better for freestyle it’s all about you being a beginner.
I fly for 5 weeks now. 50 hours actually flying on manual in real life. I started with 3 batteries, then added another 2 which gives about 30min real flight in the sky on manual mode ( like FPV drone ) and I went and still go minimum twice a day without a fail.
Cutting long story short if I HAVENT got DJI FPV but one of those two ( hands down best pre build freestyle drones currently on the market, there is no point of building drones from scratch nowadays ) I would be already on my 5th or 6th drone due to crush/losing signal/losing control/whatever without a doubt. They are both just amazing tools to learn and are very forgiving. Sport/Normal mode to learn the absolute basic feeling in the sky for first few days depends on how aggresively you wanna learn and progress.
Normal and Sports mode are modes based on GPS like Mavics aka “normal drones” where if you relese all your fingers off the controller the drone will hover, panic button even in manual mode so lets say you doing power loop and you lost control you dont know where you are - you just press that button and it will switch to Normal mode, level up and hover where you pressed the button, if you lose signal it will auto pilot and return home to the point where you took off, while these freestyle drones have only manual mode, if you lose signal the drone will just fall down like a stone as he says here, setting up and calibrating require time, you will also beed MacBook/pc with Beta Flight software and knowledge.
Then later on when you confidently fly on manual on your Avata/FPV order just the iFlight Nazgul or Geprc mk5 on its own and use with your goggles and controller from Avata/FPV. That’s exactly what I did, I just received my Geprc 2 days ago and now I will use both drones. DJI FPV for cruises over sea, or these high in the sky steady shots of sunsets etc while do all my freestyle moves on Geprc and I would suggest that path to literally everyone starting with FPV Drones. If I have to start again I will literally do same exact thing again.
The DJI FPV drone is the worst possible first FPV drone, its expensive and explodes into pieces when you crash it. "there is no point of building drones from scratch nowadays" Is probably one of the silliest things I've ever heard. Starting with a good pre-built like a Nazgul is a great for starting out but you should really should be building your next quads yourself. Its very rewarding and gives you the skills and knowledge to fix your broken gear and build something personalized for you.
@@boarattackboar Can you read with understanding first?
" *even tho something like iFlight Nazgul or Geprc mk5 is 10x better for freestyle* "
and yeah, there is DEFINITELY no need to build your own drones nowadays, you gotta be stuck in 2017. You buy Geprc mk5 and you can learn how to fix it after crashing in few hours + you can order all the parts without a problem + you can fix it on the go like your PrE BuIlD DrOnE fRoM YouR BaSeMeNt. I can bet my own head that you have never even touched a Geprc mk5. Watch some reviews, have a flight and then we can talk about wasting time building lmfao. You are not top3 world racer in need of personalised drone like an F1 driver lmfao. Get back down on earth please.
I already got pretty much every single spare item in my draw except another goPro. I just crushed last evening after 2 days of flying Geprc attempting a gap backwards, the arm and connector broke, took me 45min at home to swap 2 parts in it and go back flying.
Wake up.
I definitely would not recommend the dji fpv or dji avata as a first drone.
@@sethwalmsley5287 because? If you wanna share recommendations add the description why.
*I would recommend them both ONLY as a first drone* but never as a 2nd or 3rd one and I explained why.
I think you have never flown any drone, even tho I have absolutely no clue if that's true - im just gonna throw meaningless comments without any confimation or explanation same as you 🤡
They are really expensive to repair, you don't learn how to fix them. The camera on the DJI FPV isn't great, and you will need add a GoPro or something to the top, making it bulkier than it already is.
Extra batteries are pretty expensive, and the drones are also geofenced.
Either build one yourself or buy something like a Nazgul.
I've been flying FPV for a while and have built my own drone, and from what I have read, you haven't even built one yourself.
I mean no disrespect but that's just my take on it.
Awesome video and very informative comparison! Love the footage, made even better by the locations - so jealous!
Thanks man! Appreciate it
Congrats on 2k🎉, that motocross footage was absolutely amazing
Thanks my man! Always appreciate the support
I freaking love this video. I love watching fpv vs stabilised drone vids, and this is by far the best.
Wow, thanks! Appreciate it!
Excellent quality as always mate, some of those Mavic parallax shots gave me shivers!
Hahah thanks Joel! Honestly same here when editing this all together
Must have been the pilot :)
Miss having you around mate!
Sick video dude 👊🏻
Thanks mate!
Gotta love both! I know we have those die hard fpv guys out there, and the ones that dont fly fpv at all, but I fly both, especially being a part 107 pilot, but man fpv is so much more exhilarating! Great video bro! 👊🏼👏🏼❤️
Yeah mate! Both have their places, and somehow both still amazed even me after flying both types for years 😂
Each type of drone can do things the other can't, but fpv just a lot more fun
Fantastic video, mate! It's much better than every other video about this topic. FPV is a PAIN is top notch.
Love watching your videos Brodie!
Thanks dude!
Congratulations on 2k subs by the way!
Thanks mate 🙏
Good video! Congrats on 2000k ! 🎉
Thanks mate! Hey 2000k would be epic 😉 Is that like 2 million at that point? 😂
@@BrodieReed hahaha
2000 😁
FPV is life
Great video to accompany kiwiquads new stock. Travis is the best. Great video again Brodie, production quality has been top tier.
Appreciate the support, he sure is!
Awesome video 🤘
Thanks mate!
9:43 these Tele shots on the drone are the shots I love the most! The typical wide landscape drone shot is so used and abused where as this feels super cinematic!!!!
Yeah 100%! I’m sad to give this drone back, but did happen to pick up another one similar 👀
awesome videos mate, well done !
Thank you!
I would personally recategorise "normal" drones as "camera" drones, I'm pure FPV but I've got to admit the parallax shots of the Mavic Pro look cinematic AF.
That’s fair my man, yeah they sure do though aye 😅
Never let stranger fly my fpv drone, I am 100% sure they will crash in acro mode😂. Normal drone...Yeah maybe
lol 😂😂
BTW there is an betaflight alternative called INAV (has autonomous flight modes…)
I fly all types and sizes of FPV drones. 'Normal' drones have never interested me at all. Your very 'abnormal' DJI footage has me just a bit jealous now! Super shots and top notch editing. Nice work.
I must get out and about this spectacular island of ours more.
Haha well I’m stoked that you feel that way! 100% worth gettin out there ✌️
short answer , you need both
Flew both. Typical DJI drone for photography, FPV for going crazy
That's the spirit haha
Normal drone vs avata2?😊
Mavic looks like a spy drone out of top gun! But the speed of that fpv is nuts 🥜
Zoominggggg
They are just different tools for different purpose
Yessirrr
6:36, yes 4 is a quarter of 12
I'm on 16th day grind. So far I improved 41 seconds vs my 3rd day (First 2 days was just awful)
Awesome work!! Keep it goin!
@@BrodieReed This comment should be in your 30 day sim video but somehow end up here lol
I figured that one hahaha
The prices you show are weird, the DJI goggles2 are 650 USD thats a bit less than 1000AUD (I guess you are referring to AUD in this video).
A complete FPV drone package will cost you around 2000 USD including everything. And if you have an O3 you dont really need a Gopro, if you are using a Gopro you can use a much lower priced FPV system since you are using the Gopro for content creation and the FPV for flying only and you saved another ~100-300 USD.
I always forget to mention that the prices are NZD 🤦 My bad haha!
I do agree to a point with the GoPro vs O3, although for getting super crisp footage I do believe that the GoPro pulls through as a clear winner. In saying that, for 70% of the flying most people do, an O3 unit will provide more than enough quality for them to be stoked!
@@BrodieReed 1280 NZD is still around 790 USD, thats quite a steep price for the DJI googles 2 (they sell for around 650 USD). I do love DJI products, they know how to design and build drones, but their pricing is insane due to lack of competition (I dont think they would have sold the goggles 2 at 650 USD if there wasnt any competition in this specific are), the Mavic 3 pro is a amazing drone though...
@@assafweiss8078 Just keep in mind with the currency conversion that you also need to account shipping to NZ which is bloody expensive and also GST of 15% - maybe Brodie should do USD and NZD for pricing in future videos 😅
Hahaha yeah EVERYTHING in NZ is hella expensive, trust me I’m jealous of yall over pretty much anywhere else 😂
@@assafweiss8078 650 USD is before tax, and since sales tax varies from state to state, end price will vary. All NZ prices include 15% GST - Math is 650USD = $1212 NZD as of today :)
2 different drones, 2 different applications.
Imo I think fpv is a bit more versatile but Mavics serves their purpose which is limited
Dude saying potato grade quality while analog pilots ☠️
Lmfao rip 😂
Niklas Christl style thumbnail?😉
You betcha 😜
style? more like copy paste
Be original man. Like how Niklas was with this idea.
What’s happened to the podcast?
It’s taking a break right now, just currently don’t have the time to be organising new guests while upping the quality over the main video
dude lol ya'll pay ridiculous prices. about 3 times the price of here in the U.S.
Blud thinks he is Niklqs Christl
@niklaschristl - thumbnail looks familiar
Sure is 👀
