I for me, I have left over of a broken fishing pole. I think that would be a good start to work on the forms, plus you can kind of do tricks that you see in anime with out getting hurt, and it’s light. But it think it’s would be a good start to build some muscle memory. And then go up to a training sword which is heavier to work the muscle. Just so you feel like you at least know what your doing and your comfortable with moving your arms and stuff.

I was taught when presenting the sword the end of the handle should be at your navel ,arms extended properly, and the sword should be at a 45° angle thus at the center of your Ki..
