Actually external combustion engines are a thing: Sterling Engines are one and actually all Steam Engines are external combustion engines because the combustion is taking place outside of the actual area where work is being done.
Pretty sure this is actually an eternal combustion engine.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. A dwarf trains and studies for 100 years just to earn the right to forge with the legends of the fire plane, to have their name etched in stone and immortalized for all time, to craft arms worthy of the gods.
It could also be a cool place for warforged to hail from if you aren’t in Eberron. Although they are part organic so perhaps in between the plain of fire and the plane of earth.
I want to *BE* that cleric.
They don't tell you about the cheeseburgers. Most sources say they make the best burgers in the entire D&D multiverse. I mean they know how to perfectly sear the meat to keep the juices in, they have the toasted buns, the melted cheese, the crispy bacon, and all the vegetables are deep fried. Which is amazing.
And you don't even need a stove, just get a nice clean rock and toss it on.
what they DON'T tell you in the DMG... is that in the Elemental Planes, it's all Beyond Meat

@@eosdawn6399 brown mold instantly extinguishes any fire source near it and grows massively. so if you brought a tiny bit of brown mold on the bottom of your shoe and went to the plain of fire it would essentially nuke the whole plain with mold.

The plain of fire Sounds like a summer in Phoenix Arizona.
I love the plane of water, it feels so close to the material plane. I ran a silly "kobold space program" game where kobolds glued thousands of everflowing bottles to an aparatus of kwalish to launch it into space... the denizens of the elemental plane of water took exception and caused additional chaos for the party to clean up.
My favorite is the Primordial Plane of Radiance/Light.
Just for the fun rule that it heals you until you literally EXPLODE.
The only way to survive for any length of time is to be hyper emo with severe depression; you can't explode from too much life energy if you're constantly cutting yourself.

given that the elemental planes are only their elements, I figured the plane of fire would be one huge cloud of glowing hot plasma
To my understanding, this is the case if you basically go to the heart of the plane of fire. Places like the City of Brass somewhat border the planes of earth and air. If you go to the center of the plane of fire though then yes. There is no earth, no liquid, no air, just pure thermal energy. This is also the case for the other planes and their respective enviroments.

I guess it’s a sort of “ha, look at how much cooler (wait no, uh) my god is compared to yours!” thing. Or at least something like that.
You know those indie games that are inexplicably dark but tell a sweeping story of the horrors of the human condition? Games like Celeste, Undertale, and hollow knight? I find that the shadowfell lends itself perfectly to these darker more thought provoking stories and as such, my favorite plane is the shadowfell!

But since Covith is two planes over from the prime, his power is reduced on the prime, so whatever boost you'd get from him being a higher deity would be canceled out and would have the average strength of any other cleric, wouldn't it?

The elemental planes are connected to the material plane by the ethereal. I think? And the outer planes where the gods usually reside are connected by the astral. So, gods in both the inner and outer planes are the same technical distance to the material plane. I thiiiink if there are gods on the shadowfell or feywild then those might be connected directly and technically be stronger on the material plane? I think?

9:10 dragons, with elemental energy being so closely tied with their biology, should be empowered in the inner planes of their related elements. Up their fly speed/maneuverability, increase their burrow or swim speeds. Give them temp hp, or something.
I imagine they wouldn't want to stay too long on these planes because their lairs, treasure, and favorite foods all exist on the material plane and are difficult to find in the inner planes, but there's no reason why an ancient red dragon wouldn't go th the plane of fire for a spa day
My favorite plane is gotta be the plane of water because i love ocean, seas and their denizens, even krakens and of course Aboleths.
Small note: i heard that there is a plane of ice? dunno if that's canon anymore or even real.
plain of ice is the border plain between water and air. similar to how the plain of smoke is the border or air and fire

Call the space from 1 to 5 "Elemental Water" and from 6 to 11, call it "Elemental Air".
There are infinite fractions between 1 and 5, and infinite fracions between 6 and 11, so the Elemental Planes of Air and of Water are both infinite in 'locations'.
However, there are also infinite numbers between 5 and 6. Just because 5 is closer to 6 than 6 is to 11, doesn;t mean there aren't infinite locations between the two.

Feywild is definitely my all time favorite, I could run an entire camping there

every time runesmith uploads a "basically ----------" video about dnd lore that mrrhexx already covered i know that he wont cover anything i havent already seen in mrrhexx's videos. what he DOES bring to the table is his unique ideas on how to run different characters, races or situations. how to change the standard content for the better in your game. so im glad he gets to write more of his books.
I love the plane of water. That's where I'm sending my players soon to introduce them to planar travel. Alien, but survivable.

I would say the Negative Energy plane was the most destructive and deadly plane to visit. That's why some of my lichs hide their phalactories there. Favorite though is the Positive Energy plane.

3:17 Wouldn't the negative energy plane count? It's hostility incarnate, and literally doesn't want anything (besides certain un-things) to exist at all. I find that's a step beyond burning alive...
Do a 'what they don't tell you about soap' video. I know there's soap in D&D. This would be a great investment of your finite time.
There is probably an explanation for this somewhere, but the realm has to have some air in it because fire needs oxygen to burn. In a vacuum fire is extinguished.
I kind of have the idea that the fire-creature inhabitants of the plane could all be pretty chilled out, generally speaking. Like, they have this plane of unending fire, violence and destruction where they feel very good and at-home, so they just put on some sunglasses, kick back and enjoy the climate like it's some kind of tropical get-away.
And here I thought the negative energy plane was the most inhospitable for anything alive. Even the positive energy plane is pretty inhospitable in a paradoxical way.
Does anyone else just think of the plane of hades when they think of hell? Like I just think vast desolate fields with the occasional Cyprus or poplar or black locust tree that provides no shade with a skyline that is just the walls of a cavern

Although my party just spent a few sessions in the plane of water because someone decided to jump into a portal head first (That someone may or may not have been me). My favorite plane is the Water Plane! Our own oceans terrify me! So the idea of an entire realm just being endless ocean is as intriguing as its horrifying!

Hi Rhexx, I think you are onto something here. Dugeons and Dragons, for me alteast, is about exploration so more videos about planes of existance, not just the elemental but also like mount celestia etc. would be awesome. Limbo, Gehenna, and the big tree itself

I like the Dungeon casts explanation of the elemental plane of fire. The closer the plane is to the other planes, the more habitable it becomes. With charred lands, volcanos and breathable, yet I healthy air. The city of brass is located here. The deeper you go into the plane, the less land and air there is, till all there is, is only fire. No up or down, nor air, just fire.
The same is said with the plane of water, eventually, there is only water. No atmosphere, no oxygen, just endless water.
I don't know much about the planes but I've always liked fire so going with that as my favourite.
In 3.5 my character summoned elementals and had a personality and name for each one. With the hopes that at higher levels they would evolve and awaken more when cast at the next summon ____ elemental. It was a fun idea

I think high level Forge Clerics and mid level Desert Storm Heralds might be fine here with the right gear.
Favorite Outerplane is the Mechanus. Favorite Innerplane is the Shadowfell. If we are talking Elemental Planes then it is certainly Fire, but mostly because of the City of Brass.
