  • Well there may have a been a few more exploits than I was expecting. Turns out you can make a pretty lethal fighter without actually getting into any real fights. I think if we do a future playthrough of Kenshi we are going to need some restrictions.

    I followed your guide up to the point where I had to capture Cat-Lon... however, I got a lil'bit distracted by the fact that once you are allied with the gutters, you can pick up beak-things if you walk up to them. Just like you did with your bull-bag, you can pick these hyper-aggressive, ever-hungry beasts up and release them inside any buildings you wish.
    There is literally no one able to stop you from hauling 20+ of these beasts into Tengus throneroom and releasing them all at once. We ravaged Sho-Battai, Hevt and Hermelin with Heng next on my list. Give it a try, you'll make those fleshies weep

    for the toughness training, if i remember right only the first person to get up from playing dead can get the XP for getting up while enemies are around, anyone else around just passively gets up because an ally is in active combat, so your training method would want only one person.
    and even if you don't do it through a play through set up a base near the crabs without making them friendly, the crab battle events have great dialog.
    and yes when you get high starts martial arts gets super insane, 300+ damage hits and whatnot though they can get dodge locked in group combat.

    You dont need a base, just use unfinished paused weapon display to block exit of a building, and you can trap your training dummy in, and police outside. Thou i would not use Y shaped house for training, dummies glitch into a walls a lot in those.

    Hello Francis.
    I enjoyed the vid, thanks for posting. Who knew removing a leg made you go unconcious!
    You mentioned having a hard time training dodge so i'll throw in my 2 cents.
    The way I did this was to slap that samurai armor / legplates etc back on this should reduce your dodge by 90% (give or take). If your characters have 80-odd toughness like in this vid, I would set up a camp bed outside Cat-Lon's place in the ashlands, then run inside that Stormthrall dome that you so dilligently avoided. due to the frequency of weak hits that 100 stormthralls will land on you, and the debuff on your samurai gear, dodge skill should zip up into the 80's - 90's after a few Beatdowns > Rests > Repeats.

Of course, if you steal them all back, it does not matter. Only important when going to jail or when not stealing. Still really nice tutorial on how to make Kenshi easy. I would still personally say weapons are better than MA in group fights because of how slow the animations are for advanced MA. You will get interrupted far more often when using MA and are much more likely to get locked into constantly dodging. Throw in a few ranged enemies and it'll be a slog. Mind you I tested this with a 500 stat character lol. When soloing towns, I would be taken out relatively often using MA, whereas I would almost never lose while using a heavy weapon or pole arm. Not to mention MA's incompatibility with most heavy armors.
      TL;DR:
      In a 1v1, MA is King
      In a 1v10+, Weapons are King
      In a 1vX, Ranged is OP

    For some reason the skill still advances at normal speed from healing instead of getting exponentially slower to level from crafting - Currently have 120 robotics skill on my current playthrough.
    Edit: It just occurred to me that this may be possible to train Medical skill in this same way using leviathan, but I haven't tested this yet.

    FJ, when you hover the mouse over something and right click, it will do the displayed thing by default. So, you don't need to open the context menu every time. Meaning, when it shows a speech bubble, right click starts a conversation. When a knockout fist is displayed, right click will attempt a knockout. For Mad Cat-Lon, you can literally go in with 0 assassination, hide behind him, and spam right click. Ok so from what ive learnt playing the game and using this training method as well, it is possible to hit 3 enemies at once with martial arts, therefore leveling faster, you can also put sleeping bags on skeleton beds and normal beds for even more dummies. Another thing is that their melee defense and possibly dodge doesn't matter because they are not able to defend themselves and the difference dosent provide more experience.

      also for training melee defense and dodge, what i did was to give the leg back to the training dummy and equip them with skeleton arms which are faster and more dextrous. I then give the dummy with assassin's rags to boost its melee and a weakest cut damage weapon (i used a rusty wazikashi). And i gave my own guy any armor that reduced melee defense like the holy armor and guardless katana, if any slots are free i fill them with any gear that reduces their combat speed. This causes the training dummy to be able to hit your guys far more and your guy wont get a chance to attack much. Another thing is that not turning on block mode is also good aswell as to not get the 20 point boost towards defense/dodge that reduces the xp

The hit box for escaping can be pretty small for using escape so like I said good idea to have a backup.

    Best place to cheese your stats is mourn. the large structure in the middle has a giant white gorrillo inside with some of the highest stats in the game. Also has some beds to stick it in. Getting a full set of samurai armor, a few backpacks full of iron and a large backpack to properly gimp your MA stat will allow you to train all the way to 100 skill. Fighting bare handed with that equipment also trains strength, dex, and toughness. MA damage is based off of Strength, MA skill and Toughness. This gives you your base ma damage that then gets multiplied depending on the move that is performed.
    Healing the gorillo after each training session will level first aid. Eventually letting the gorrilo go free from it's bed prison to increase dodge and defense is the final phase of training. It's not a good way to play the game for your first run, but on run like 3 or 4 it's fun creating a single character that can wipe out any faction leader and their body guards.

    @zagzyg2914 Před 2 lety +2

    While it gets style points, Cat-lon with his monologue and turning passive are more of a pain. A P30 from Black Desert works the same, are always agro, and easy to replace, and you can knock a leg off fairly easily. I've never had the police try to break in as he is never out of bed/cage, so I think they only trigger when an enemy actually starts fighting.
    Put master samurai set and best defensive stat rusted junk weapon on the dummy, and prototype samurai set on self, 1 prototype arm, and overload to very high levels, and you level dex, attack and martial arts super fast, and with dex 90+ your attack speed will be a lot higher for weapons training. For overloading I fill 2 garu backpacks with iron, then carry those in your inventory, and a traders pack full of iron or the 100kg traders pack on your back if you have it. I think I get close to 4 tonnes.
    Watch you have enough power for the skeleton bed as some towns get blackouts, so I put some small wind generators on the roof.
    Similarly, early trip to a hive village, and grab a knocked out gorillo or beakthing, and put them in one of the sleeping bags for rent there. They don't heal that fast, and it's pretty easy to kill them if you don't micro a bit and heal them, and replacement medical supplies can be short, but there are ample volunteers, and free lunch and hides.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  Před 2 lety

      If I was going to use this strat to build a team I would go out and hire say 20 recruits, most likely Scorchlanders. (Lower bleed rate, fastest heal rate and only race with bonus to Dodge learning) Then train them all up in one sitting on Cat Lon to get martial arts and Dexterity to 80+. Toughness next with the leg removal trick, then over to black desert for dodge training. I figure it would take 4-6 hours but you would then have a team of martial arts monsters. Though I suppose then you would have to train strength which would take longer than all the other training combined.

    The very first thing you should train should be dodge with martial arts. The reason for this is that if you don't, it's incredibly hard to grind while using a weapon and can absolutely change the outcome of a fight. If you get staggered by a hit while using a weapon, then you roll on dodge NOT defence. By having food dodge, you can drive the enemy of an easy free second hit.

    • @FrancisJohnYT
      @FrancisJohnYT  Před 6 měsíci

      I would argue toughness is the most important stat, when you are tough enough you can tank so many extra hits it does not matter. Also once toughness is trained it makes training dodge and several other skills much easier and safer.
