Scramble: Battle of Britain is a tactical dogfighting game that thrusts players into the kerosene-fueled chaos of the 1940 summer skies. Set in a dynamic 3D airspace, this simultaneous-turn-based game embraces the intricate details of aerodynamics and physics-based simulation unique to the piloting experience while minimizing time and reflex demands. Players lead their squadrons through intense aerial battles as Luftwaffe and RAF fighters clash over the English Channel. Through each gameplay phase-Planning, Simulation, and Review-players strategize and command aerial maneuvers, witness simulation outcomes in real-time, and rewind the action to analyze battle damage using detailed camera tools. - Hry
This kinda reminds me of the old "Dogfights" episodes when they'd show in detail how the person maneuvered the plane in the dogfight or whatever, with those big blue or red arrows
A good show but I hated that all POV was from USA and Israel. I wanted some input from the heroes of Soviet Union and Germany.
Good show, been using it for reference for years due to it's simplicity, but now the fellow sim players I refer it to just go on about the graphics instead of the tactics (which are still just as valid) so they completely miss the point and get massacred.
@@unwokeneuropean3590 it makes sense though because the United States is a vassal state of Israel
@@unwokeneuropean3590 >american show focuses on american pilots, and not the people fighting against them
damb
@@unwokeneuropean3590 Soviet Union and Germany.. --- > Heroes...
Sounds alot like a Wheraboo mad he isnt represented.
Hold on... is this the modern day remake of Achtung Spitfire / Over the Reich that I've been waiting for all these years?
It seams yes 👍
Ride of the valkyries starting to play...
Similar. Funnily enough, my first notification this was out was on the Fighting Wings forum for the original board games mentioned.
My thoughts exactly, i've been wanting a remake of those games for years!
Yes, it seems to be trying to be. The demo is awesome
Hi Wolf are you planing to do another Il 2 series? I miss Yuri and I would love to see another great pilot story! Thank you in advance. Love your videos man
I second this!
They were fun series to watch and got me into the game
i third this!
4th this. I would love to see a P-47 run
A new series revolving around an allied pilot trying to survive through the battle of Normandy would be awesome
I wasn't overly sold on this as a concept, until I saw this video. The little details are pretty great, it makes me wonder if you could employ real world WW2 fighter tactics. I'll definitely check this out.
Yeah, me when I hear "turn-based". ☹Me when he gets hits, "Fuck yeah!". Would be cool to see the Thatch Weave and other tactics put to use, although, I realize that was more of a Pacific thing.
Real flashback to Steambirds 10 years ago. This is like a 3D version
Came here for this comment! "Skies of War" was another childhood flash game of mine.
As someone who grew up with Avalon Hill and SPI war games this has my full attention. Thanks for sharing.
the replay at the end sold me on this a bit. really cool to se a full replay of what transpired in real time
He didn't mention it but you can go to the replay of each turn during combat and watch from every planes perspective. It's another really cool detail.
Reminds me of the old Avalon Hill PC games “Achtung Spitfire” and “Over the Reich”.
and Air Force and Dauntless (originally Battleline, bought by AH)
Clash of Arms, not Avalon Hill. Still going strong, we're up to the 4th iteration now with Wings of the Motherland.
@scottc287 Great games in the day, still got my Battleline editions.
this game looks like the Achtung Spitfire and Over The Reich. Turn based aerial dogfight game. Nice
Careful pulling negative G in the Spitfire, I recall reading the Merlin engine didn't like negative Gees (messed up the carburetor, cut off fuel to the engine). This was fixed later on, but in 1940 that would be an issue, if the game models it.
It doesn't, sadly.
Interesting. It has shades of the old Avalon Hill "Battle of Britain" board game from about 30 years ago. Right down to and including personalities and Hornchurch. It's nice to see some companies trying new things with turn based games. They DO make a person think a lot more.
There are some modern versions of this too - I've got Skies Above Britain on my table right now
@wsethbrown Superb game. Hardly surprising though, the designer has a really good track record.
would love to see more episodes of this. Even these "random battles" would be cool, interesting and different!
I used to play Wings of War, which was another tabletop game like this
Me too
I was just thinking the same thing. This looks promising.
YOOOO STEAMBIRDS??!!?
I have never seen turn based dogfighting before. That is so cool!
Sid Meier had two very addicting card based air-combat games. This reminds me of them.
@Wolfpack345 there is also a replay feature in between turns. Use the backspace key.
In it you can scrub the turns timeline as much as you want from many perspectives.
I find it very helpful for planning purposes in addition to being beautiful.
"The sun is starting to set"
Me looking at the time onscreen: "Really" 😁
Jokes aside, seems to be another game where I can fail in a spectacular fashion and have fun at the same time.
This reminds me of DCS when you can do the after action review and they show the whole battle play out.
Ya know what would be awesome...have a full fight replay button! and/or save the fight in a avi/mpg video for replay or to show others!
Very cool...do Immelmann turns and low speed yoyo's and such (or have buttons to activate those maneuvers with pilot skill ups and such)...very cool!
Keep em coming!!!!
I remember a game similar to this but with jets...must have been _very_ early 2000s. I thought the concept had potential then and it took ages for anyone to pick it up again.
I remember playing a demo of this years ago at EGX in London several years ago whilst doing a BTEC in Computer Science. Spoke to the devs and they were really chill. Glad to see it's finally getting released.
I think each turn represents 4 seconds of flight time. This game is certainly pretty unique and I am really looking forward the campaign mode.
Have had this game wishlisted for about two years now. Hope it comes out some day, but do see how the enemy AI could be a formidable challenge: For example, the two German aircraft here did not work together, with one covering the other as they likely would in reality. Will be interested to see how the game progresses. Also, keep in mind the concept of potential energy. Aircraft at a higher altitude (all else being equal) will have more potential energy than those at a lower altitude. Maneuvering and climbing will reduce your aircraft's potential energy. So, it's always a balancing act to do what you must without losing the energy competition to the enemy.
The classic turn fight can happen in the horizontal, or the vertical (or a combination).
"The Sun is starting to set."
The clock says 05:16 and the sun is in the East. Two clues missed.
But then I'm reminded of the videos where Wolf says "no the other left!" 😅
Many years ago they released a couple of games of that style that I loved. They were called "Achtung Spitfire" (1940 Battle of England) and "Over the Reich." (1943-1945)
Always excited to see a new Battle of Britain game, I also played X-Wing for many years so if this is anything like that then I'm sure it'll be a blast.
This seems like an updated version of Sid Meier's Ace Patrol and I am all for it
Love this concept. Can see many hours spent on this one
This is a really cool concept, I'll definitely want to pick this game up when it releases!
If they opened this up to the modding community once established to create aircraft themselves from WW1 to Modern era and What if's the potential for this game could be HUGE!
Kinda like those History Channel dogfights documentaries, back when History Channel actually had History. Damn I'm ooold.
You know, since X-Wing is no longer a thing, I hope these guys can get the license to do a Star Wars version.
This looks like a modern version of a game i played on pc from like, late 1990s which was turned based. Cant remember much about it except you could choose firing to be burst, medium or blaze away.
I wasn't sure about this game but after seeing this video I think I'm gonna have to get it 🛩🛩
I wonder if they'll simulate how the 109's can pull negative G's better than the Spitfire's since their fuel injection systems weren't susceptible to fuel flow issues like the Spit's carburetor
Seems likely given anyone remotely interested in aviation is aware of it.
I just downloaded the demo and i am hooked! what a cool concept for a game it will be an instant buy once released for sure
In the days Before PC's with any ram, I played a book Game called "Red Baron" same as this software, but pictures in 2 books, 1 for each side, you picked a move each, call out the PAGE N0: that you "Send" each other 2 to see where planes are in sky, old school, but my Computer @time only had 2k ram ...
Wow, this looks really good. I'll be sure to be on the lookout for it.
This game really reminds me of YOMI hustle, especially the real time replay at the end.
I always thought of this exact concept.
I wonder if Wolfpack ever player secret weapons over Normandy. One of my favorite series ever! This game sort of reminds me of it for some reason
This really reminds me of Sid Myers Aces, but much more advanced
I wonder if they will add the other aircraft in the Battle of Britain. I'd like to see the Hurricane, BF110, Junkers 88 etc.
Oh my God the game looks super fun. Can't wait to hear more from it. So we have the game "Atlantic Fleet" and now we will get this game too
Indeed. Perfect mix. This game looks more fleshed out though, now all that's missing is a turn based game for infantry combat.
I hope the gun sounds are placeholders. The 7.7 sounds like microwave popcorn.
This might be worth a series after full release.
I step here, you move there, like the sword fight in PotC
First time I ever heard him say fuck
Ooooh. This certainly seems interesting! I hope there's a campaign for both sides. What would be really fun is a historical battles campaign with the HUUUUGE "big wing" fight that occurred over London with hundreds of planes on both sides. Attacking bomber formations would be soooo much fun! :D
I would love to see a game like this for Korea and Vietnam. Its such a cool concept.
It looks like Slytherin took BSG Deadlocks mechanics and tried something unique and Awesome!! Hoping that more nations from WW2 (USA, USSR, Japan, etc) get included.
I used to play XWing too! I also did Armada as well
A very cool idea for a game
that looks like an adaptation of Blood Red Skies, hope it will get out fast!
I Imagine this is how ace pilots see things when they are jacked on adrenaline. Birds too, probably.
"2 Section SCRAMBLE!!!"
Oh, the potential...American, Italian, Japanese, Soviet...so many beautiful warbirds!
Does it have an option to track a target, i.e. try to maintain a gun solution and keep firing?
Some more cinematic options at the end would be cool.
Reminds me of Wings of Glory aswell, the WW1/WW2 version of X-Wing
THe expansions will be really cool. Bmmber formations and more campaigns are a must!
I would 100% watch more of this game
That looked fun!
Ah... reminds me of Achtung Spitfire! from 90s :)
That’s a pretty neat game, for sure.
Time to recreate the air scenes in "Dunkirk"!
My favorite BoB game is still Fighter Command. I heard there was another one, but this one was computer and German raids would suddenly appear as swastikas with an air raid siren lol. I used to play a lot as the Germans simply because I knew how to beat the British. We're talking the 80s here.
As someone else has asked, do you plan to do another il-2 series? there awesome and the pilot stories are awesome. I dont know if there is a mod or what but maybe do a Americans pilot? fighting the Japanese or Germans. Or maybe DCS and do a early jets against the soviets, or the North Koreans etc.
I am really out of the loop with IL 2, but some less prominent theater would be nice. Maybe ww2 Finland, Korea, Vietnam or if there is something with interwar planes.
@@HerraHidalgo yo a Finland one would go hard
At last i have been waiting YEARS for this to be released, thank you for the heads up and great little dogfight performance. tally ho
Wp sir,
I can't get addicted to more of your awesomeness! Love this content!!🍻
Turnbased ww2 flying game is wild idea
Very nice ! It's the game of game you can play for hours.
Do pilots level up or gain abilities, like being able to turn harder without blacking out?
Not in the demo.
So it’s like Dakka Squadron
Regarding turn times devs stated it is 2 seconds
It looks like it would be a lot easier to setup your turn if you could focus on where you end up instead of where you are. Its hard to see when your in a 3D space like this.
There is a button to do exactly that! It can still be a little fiddly, but helps in certain situations!
This game would be a cool IF you could fly a Boulton Paul Defiant - turreted fighter. Need to get the enemy in close without getting shot up. bnj
This game looks great!
Hey could you do a Falcon BMS campaign when 4.38 comes out? Id love to see that.
Excellent stuff!! Scratch two Gerrys
So you didn't notice that Schneider had JUST regained consciousness from G lock when you shot him the first time and lost his Aileron! This game reminds me of a dog fighting WW I game that used books.
Ace of Aces! Brilliant game. I saw a reprint was up on Kickstarter for the Powerhouse booklets. As I only have Handy Rotaries from way back, I was up for this straight away!
@@heneagedundas THAT BE IT!!! thanks for the reminder.
this is great! thanks wolfpack!
First time I've heard Wolfpack cuss haha
It would be fun to play the Flying Tigers in this yea?
It would be great if they would adapt the AH game Richthofen’s War to this format
RW was fun in the day, but I preferred Wings. However, for a real fun WWI game Ace of Aces was hard to beat. Currently up for reprint on Kickstarter.
This reminds me of Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol! freaking awesome
Nice video mate, I certainly like the look of this.
Reminds me of sid meier ace patrol and bsg desdlock slightly
i want that game lol i have it on my wishlist
Interesting.. I wonder if Mr.Brown would find it so.. 🤔
Looks pretty good. Yes, I get that it's not realistic (I'm sure fighter pilots IRL would love frequent pauses to think), but that's okay for the type of game it is. I'm not sure that you should be informed the second you've killed a pilot though. It should let you work that out for yourself. Maybe that's going to be a setting or part of the difficulty curve...
Looks like a great game
Why are we 7 days out from the last war on the sea video???
This was entertaining to watch.
This game looks awesome! :D
X-Wing is goated
Interesting, can you play it as German too?
273mph at 11:50 is nowhere near stall speed for a 109. The Ai is doing wonky physics defying maneuvers. That's it
Certainly not right for straight and level flight. Seems a bit high even if pulling max G.
