  • I explain How To Set Up Pressure Washer Fittings in this video because I know this can be confusing to some, especially to those who are new in the business. People have difference preferences about whether to begin at the pressure washer outlet with either the plug or the female quick connect coupler. The way I always set up my systems is based on this simple idea. The plug is out because the plug points the way the water flows. You may have a different set up strategy but regardless, it's important to be consistent all the way through the system. I hope this video helps clear up some of the confusion and answer questions about setting up pressure washer fittings. Here are a couple direct links to products mentioned in this video.

    Socket out is the preferred way IMO. This way when using multiple pressure hoses you don't lose your hose connections when rolling up hoses at the end of a job. Never fails, smallest bump causes the coupler sleeve to slide back and disconnect from the connecting hose. Definitely a matter of preference

    Also we use male plug to female plug (plug/plug) at spray end of ball valve which then allows us to use ANY fitting of surf clnr or spray wand, etc. However I would Never attempt to convince you and your many years of experience. Mainly commenting for the algorithm. Have a good day Dougie!

Because you explain things so well, as if you know the questions that’ll be asked so you explain things in a way to answer all the possible questions. I’m from the tractor side of things and always the tractor end has the socket/female on the tractor/pump end and the male/plug on the receiving/implement side. That is even the case when using the common double acting rams or supplying hydraulic motors where both hoses will have identical ends. There could be up to eight quick release couplings used with eight hoses for a single implement and in that case it is essential to colour code every male and female for identification and matching. Otherwise it might take hours and hours of frustration when attaching the implement hoses to the correct spool and cab control.

    Aside from the rare chance of an o-ring blowing is there any reason not to have plug out on the pressure washer and plug in on the trigger handle, with the pressure hose having socket in and socket out? Such an arrangement makes sense to me because I can quickly release the hose with one hand by pulling on the socket instead of pulling the hose and pushing the socket at the same time which requires both hands. Also, if there are quick connect plugs on the end of my hose and it drops or scrapes along the ground (can happen easily) then the plug can become damaged and compromise the seal it makes with the o ring. Otherwise, if I scratch the outer part of a socket it won't compromise the internal seal.

      No reason you can't other than having an extra set of fittings on the hose. So much of the biz is personal preference getting things to how you like themself. 😀

    Would you tape or liquid seal when you swap out the fitting from the pump itself?

  • @Chilltown13
    @Chilltown13 Před 10 měsíci +2

    Doug , do you have a video on quick connect plug out & socket in swap from power wash machine & surface cleaner? That would be helpful and help not waste fittings which is a great idea!

    • @PressureCleaningSch
      @PressureCleaningSch  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Dont thinks so, but when we swap them here he just take the one of the machine an put on the surface cleaner and the surface cleaner one goes to the machine.

    Hi. Question: I have a mckillians swivel gun. It came with a 3/8 inlet ( I’m assuming that’s the size). My hose and ryobi pressure washer uses 1/4 inch fittings. Is there a swap out plug inlet fitting so I can use my 1/4 inch hose with the mckillans gun?

      Hi rick, I've never heard of that gun so not real sure. You might check with where you purchased or the mckillians themselves.

    We call the QR fittings either male or female. I don’t think there is any doubt about gender identity when it comes to these.
