  • For those that are curious, this is a tool that my father and I invented and patented a few years back. Recently it was picked up by a larger company and revamped to make it virtually indestructible. Below is a link to their website and newly filmed video showcasing the new adapter plate.

I remember cleaning a culvert years ago and all I had was my master diver cert, a rebreather and a heavy 6foot pinch bar. It took 4 trips to clear the partial collapse and resulting blockage and the thing was that after all my hard graft the local council decided to dig it up and put a new one in

Here in belmont county ohio the county workers widened our rural roads so pipeliners could have easier time. They graded peoples yards and hilllsides and even took out phone lines. Eventuallly with rain all that mud filled the culverts. This wqs 2 years ago. Ohio can only afford one culvert cleaner for 7 counties so they are stilll clogged. The roads are caving in and so is the land.

So, you moved the debris to the side so it could wash back under the bridge the next high water event. Smart thinking. Keep yourself in business.

Yes I was thinking he should work from the downstream side then the water would push out the loosened material

So if you start upstream, and allow all the stuff to blow downstream into the other culverts, seems like you could "clean up" on cleaning them out. Getting paid multiple times to remove the same stuff.

Good eye, usually I would, but with this particular bridge I found it hard to find an easy angle to clear the front without packing the debris tighter. To combat this I ended up digging a slight trench about two feet from the upstream side of the bridge and pulled the material from under the bridge into it. In the process the larger rocks and gravel filled the trench and the organic material passed under the bridge

If you had not put the debris and sticks in there for your demo--you wouldn’t have had a demo!!! All of the digging on both sides of the bridge needed to be done anyways and the creek would have washed itself clean into the hole you dug. Then just clean the hole again at a later date. What you have built is pretty but after a few uses and a couple of wanna be operators, all you are going to have is an expensive piece of bent and/or broken metal.
