- With the awareness of environmental hazards detailed by federal and local regulations, it is important that drainage structures are properly maintained. In the past these structures have not been given the attention they deserve. Many culverts in the U.S. have never been cleaned which has resulted in damages to the structures themselves, roads, ditches, personal property and even people. One of the main reasons organizations have not maintained their structures is due to the lack of efficient and effective culvert cleaning methods. Open cutting a road, jetter trucks, backhoes and cables are all methods that have been used to clean culverts in the past. Each of these methods have their shortcomings.

I was a telephone cable splicer in the Air Force. We were in Turkey and had to run a new cable through an underground conduit that was full of mud. We went to the fire department and got a hose and used it to blast out the mud. Took a while, but it worked. The folks in the chow hall didn't like it when we walked in though. For some reason they wouldn't let us in. Go figure? .

I recall when the county lazed about in my area about cleaning drain pipes, a thunderstorm rolls in, and the bottom flat lands at the bottom of the hill, dead center was turned into a miniature creek as the storm drains couldnt cope due to partial restriction.
The music was more climatic than the actual drain cleaning.
But if the mud and guck isn't cleared away won't it just flow back and reclog the the pipe??

I have found that High pressure jetting and vacume truck to be more efficient and economical and less labour intensive than the Directional drill method.
Negative, this method uses less water and time.
@@Hectic142 Many processes use high pressure water these days. The process in the video doesn't seem especially quick. High pressure water would carry away the detritus as it works. I think a side by side comparison would be interesting.
I'm often constipated, where can I find a smaller version of this machine?

I used pipe pigging equipment similar to this, we couldn't afford to purchase the harmonic head cleaning attachment that produces music from a Stanley Kubrick movie.
There is a program called "Preventive Maintenance," you should consider looking into it.

Y'all lost me at the Vermeer. Would be cool to see something that could be pulled through with a vehicle mounted winch, but this is a more powerful commercial method. Still a neat method.
