No one is invincible Pat. There will be many who watch this and think it will never happen to them. Unfortunately life has it's way with us and we will all need the NHS for various reasons sooner or later. I personally live with a type of brain tumour called acoustic neuroma. Most of the tumor was removed many years ago but a fragment was left due to its location and is now growing again. Luckily it is slow growing and I am monitored occasionally. God bless you Patrick you're an inspiration to us all. I love your videos as I was born in Sheffield in 1960 and spent the first 14 years of my life there. I have beautiful memories of the area and your videos bring back so many emotions, I've lived in Vancouver Canada since 1974 and the last time I visited there was 79. Stay strong and healthy and positive you are in my thoughts and prayers.

She got diagnosed with lung cancer from a routine x-ray last October, then a scan but it was too late because it had developed to terminal. Glad you will be fine Patrick. I had a cancer issue three years ago and now, fortunately I'm doing fine. I was surprised at the amount of support from my friends in the ham radio community, amazing. When I was in agony for the six months or so before my op, I used to dream that I would go camping, with my little Caterham Seven and see more of the UK.
I also dreamt about buying a pair of Loake Royal brogue shoes in burgundy (thats another story) and I indeed fulfilled that dream!
Anyway, I suppose my point is, that now I have a new lease of life, I'm determined to get my camping gear together and get out there next year, YOU have been part of my story too! I've watched several of your vids and have found them very educational. I won't be walking that much, as now my mobility is not as good since the op, BUT I will be living the dream, as soon as the warmer weather arrives. Thank you sooo much Patrick, wishing you a speedy recovery-

    Hi Patrick,
I can understand that this was not an easy decision for you to make, by going public with such a personal condition is not a route for everyone. However, your natural outgoing willingness to share your lifestyle and interests, is I believe entirely consistent with your decision to share your health experience with us. Thanks and Yes you’re right, seeing you scampering across the mist laden fells and scaling up hazardous security defences, no one would have guessed you were less than well at the time. I, like many of your followers have dealt with serious health issues in my life and they are undoubtedly daunting realisations that simply go to prove that ‘we are not invincible’. ‘No man is an island entire of itself’ and these moments prove that we all need to rely upon others to get by at some time in our lives. Our National Health Service is, beyond question ‘second to none’ and my wife I were very grateful for the dedication and expert attention I received when I was diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer. Well done and good luck with your future adventures. Long may we be able to share them with you, and I mean that ‘from both sides of the screen’........! With 23k followers so far, it indicates that you are most probably ‘on the right track’
