Welcome to Time On Feet. I'm Ben and on this channel you can find Parkruns, marathons, trail running and ultras as well as reviews of running kit and training ideas I pick up along the way.
I completed my first marathon in April 2021 and shortly after got into trail running and ultra marathons. My training is mainly along the trails of the South Downs Way near where I live in Brighton, UK.

Sub 19 is a great series of clips! It will definitely help you in the ultramarathons too! All the best wishes to achieve your goals and can't wait to see the next episode! Cheers mate! 👍
Thanks Mihai, thought I'd mix it up and do something a bit different to give myself a new challenge. Looking forward to seeing how it goes, thanks for tuning in buddy
I'm excited to follow along as you break into a new speed zone Ben! Keep pushing!
Thanks Paul, looking forward to trying out something a bit different for me!
Good on you for getting out of your comfort zone Ben! This is going to be a really interesting experiment to see unfold. Great vid as always bud! 😎🤘🏻
Thanks Ben 👍 Looking forward to trying something different and who knows I might enjoy some of it 😅
Hi Ben I'm local to Devils Dyke and how nice to see it in your intro. I ran 19.04 at Hove seafront parkrun in April this year. On a calm day it's a fast course worth considering for your sub 19 attempt. This weekend I've got the SDW 100 miler and was inspired by your NDW50 video. A great time smashing sub 9.
Thanks Nick, it's a regular haunt for me as I live down the road in Brighton, great place to run. I'm doing Hove Prom this Saturday so will see how it goes! Best of luck with the SDW100, I'm heading up to Devil's Dyke to cheer people on for a bit Saturday afternoon so hopefully see you there!
Looking forward to the 5K series. Good luck on the pb attempt!!👍👍
Thanks so much. Looking forward to trying out a different kind of challenge
A Flicker of a smile passed over my face through the intro to this video ;) I've no doubt you will crack 19mins for the 5k mate. Good luck with the training for it though!
Thanks for letting me use it Phil, great tune! Really liked how it fitted with the scenery and clips for this one. Keep doing what you're doing with the music 👍
@@timeonfeet thank you man. I appreciate you saying that 😌
Beep beep I hope you enjoy the shorter runs Ben. Looking forward to see how it’s done!
Thanks very much 👍 Looking forward to giving it a try!
Your 10k and half marathon times suggest to me that you should be good for a 3 hour marathon time as well if you decide to target that in the future. Keep it up!
Thanks Stephen. I may well go for that in the future if I could get a better half marathon time first. The trail stuff fires me more overall at the mo but may well go back to trying for a road marathon at some point again!
I love clueless running 😂. Incredible race times this year 👊🏃🏻♂️🏁
Thanks Michael. I might do all this training stuff for the shorter distances and find that it doesn't make much of a difference in the end anyway!
Totally agree with you about the favourite distances Ben. It will be interesting to see how you get on. I guess all that time you have been developing the "slow twitch" endurance muscles now you will need to develop more "fast twitch". Most runners do this the other way round i.e. faster, shorter runs early in the career and increase the distances later. I have no doubt you will achieve your goal. I think I started running "clueless" then went through structured training plans, now totally "clueless" again. Good luck friend.
Thanks Peter. I don't think I have a fast twitch muscle fibre in my body so will need to sort that out 😅 It's funny as when I do track sessions with my club I feel a bit more like a steam train - it takes me a while to get going but I can maintain a fair pace in the end, so more of a slow starter! I'm more comfortable maintaing a middling pace over long distance and that's why I feel better suited to ultras but will certainly be interesting to give the challenge a go and see if it can help with the longer stuff. Hope you're having a good week so far
Looking forward to this series. I like when you mountain goats come down and do a few road races. I think it will definitely help the longer distance.
It certainly feels alien territory for me these things they call 'roads'! But thought a new kind of challenge would be good to mix it up.
@@timeonfeet it sure will. Looking forward to see how it goes. 👍
@@RunSensible Thanks 👍🏃♂️
That sounds hard work, I'm never a fan of all-out 5k's, they hurt 😂Good luck with getting the sub 19, it will help overall with the running 👍
Thanks Martin, that's what I'm hoping. I'm the same, never been a fan really and was reminded of how little I like speedier stuff doing intervals this evening 😅 But trying to still keep an open mind!
Wonderful Movie💕 I feel refresh🌼 Thank you for sharing🌸
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
This is going to be a great series!
Thanks Dan!
Awesome goal! Especially since it's not what you normally go for.
Thanks Jeremy. Thought it was a good idea to mix it up and try something different. Looking forward to giving it a go!
So nice. Amazing. Enjoy your time dear friend. Best of luck. Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much 👍
I'm looking forward to following your 5k training, I'm especially interested in the speed sessions you'll be doing to target a sub 19. I think most of us have had a period of clueless running at some point haha.
Thanks Chloe. Oh yes it's almost a necessity as a runner I think to have a period of clueless running! I'll definitely share my speed sessions - it's really good with my running club as at the track sessions they give us a different speed session each week so keeps the variety in there.
Wonderful
Thank you
Thanks you for sharing. Beautiful video 🍈
Thank you 🙏
Your clueless running has a string of super fast PBs attached to it! I'd need another 5 years to get close to those time lol. Best of luck with the 5k efforts, I'm sure you'll do well with it mate.
Thanks Mark. It might be that I do all this training for the 5k and 10k and actually find that the clueless running and lack of prep works better for me! Bit of an experiment I guess 😀
Yeahhh! Well be good to see how you get on with the shorter stuff. I'm pretty sure you'll crack it!
Thanks Ian! I may go for the sub 40 10k like you did too for the 10k race but will see how my fitness pans out and the 5k work. Need to go back and watch some of your stuff on breaking 40 again 👍
@@timeonfeet if you go sub19 for the 5k,just keep running and you may make it under 40 for the 10k! I followed Matt Fitzgeralds 80/20 plan and it worked really well 👍
@@IRunDaily I'll get to the end of parkrun and just do another lap if I get the sub 19 😅 Ah cool, I've heard a few people mention his stuff. Will have a look 👍
good idea and agree, long time on trails is preferable to short hard 5! looks lovely on the trails - my 100 this Saturday takes in some of the south downs way... the later part. (just got to shift this pesky cold!)
With you there, much prefer the adventure of a long one on the trails and the varied terrain and views. Hope the cold shifts and best of luck with the 100 this Saturday. South Downs Way is such a great trail though I probably do have some local bias in there :)
@@timeonfeet thanks …
Nice episode !
Thanks for watching 😊
coincidentally I just ran a PR PB of 19:32, which is about 20secs faster than my last PR a few months ago, I've done very little speed work, but all that NDW50 base training hasn't gone to waste. I'm sure you'll have no problems going sub 19.
It must be a NDW related PB time! I'm the same as you, my 19:32 came two weeks out from the NDW50 at a parkrun where I was just trying to do a bit of speed in but hadn't done much speed training for it. Looking forward to see if I can knock a good bit off it with some more speed work
فيديو رائع جدا ومميز تحياتي لك
