  • Growing my own healthy meat. Adapting to compensate for a sloped yard. Built my own 3'x8' rabbit hutches which have a flexible divider system to accomodate 0, 2, 3, or 4 divided sections. No longer have wet food after a rain. Also use upside down plastic totes for younger rabbits to stay warm. Using 6'x10' dog kennel with metal roofs for rabbit and 10'x10' chicken nursery/ egg laying and another 10'x10' chicken grow out pen. Built a deck with cutouts to hold my fixed rabbit tractors. Added trusses and a metal roof over rabbit deck. Preparing for grand solar minimum.

      It wont hurt at all but it will pile up quick. A mature rabbit has about 100 pellets a day. My next improvement will be to let my Rhode island red chickens forage under the rabbit hutches in a couple weeks after I process my cornish cross meat chickens.

    You had a fishing hook on the one lid you opened, hope it didn't fall off! I really like your set up! I also live on a slope, so your solutions are very interesting to me. I had my rabbits under the carport which wasn't very appealing. I want to get rabbits again, and this set up gives me hope!

      Guess one could easily use a garage tent for shelter.... May have to reinforce with the hardware cloth as to keep out critters.
      Then simply put in the hutches, it should keep them pretty warm in the winter in milder climates. They come as carports where you can remove or add sides some even have Windows that open for ventilation.

    • @dobson777a
      @dobson777a  Před 4 lety +1

    it is nice when you add some insect net for collect the poo rabbit so you can collect the poo easily and the pee going down to the ground or you can add some tray to collect the pee rabbit , Nice design by the way..^_^

    • @dobson777a

      the poo travels down naturally to a catch basin at the bottom end of the deck. The chickens help scratch the poo down to the catch basin. I use the poo for my gardens.

    Great setup but am surprised you don't use 5 gallon water buckets with lines to each cage for drinking water, instead of using a water bottle for each cage. I am thinking to going to the 5 gallon design for watering, spend too much time filling bottles.

    • @dobson777a
      @dobson777a  Před 5 lety +1

      You missed that we use 1 gallon rubber water bowls as well. I'm not happy with the automatic waters. I have to check and provide Timothy grass and pellets twice a day and the rubber water bowls do well in the winter where automatic waters and water bottles do not. Also automatic waterers just like bottles are susceptible to mold. I can feed the chickens and fill water bowls very quickly with our garden hose. Bottles need to be filled every three to four days. The very young rabbits use the bottles mostly. We also have them for backup incase the adults knock the bowl over. The fastest way to kill your rabbit is not to have water for them in the summer.

    Can I ask where you got your Florida Whites?
