I don't care how long they've been performing, or whst group is perfirming, these guys are sn absolute treasure. From Goose Tatum, Meadowlark Lemon to the present, and the gags NEVER get old!
Wilt Chamberlain is FAR from the only Globetrotter alumnus. Connie Hawkins, Bob Gibson, Nat "Sweetwater" Clifton, the FIRST African American to sign with the NBA came from the Trotters, Bill Cosby played briefly with them as did Darryl Dawkins and Magic Johnson
Harlem Globe Trotters visited Papua New Guinea in 1975... I watched them play against our national team. They made our team look like kids just trying to learn how to play basketball ball. They were just unbelievable.
Geese Ausbie came into the clinic where I worked (while the Globetrotters were on tour and in Seattle). What a sweet man! So gracious, funny and a gentleman. We had lots of Seattle "big shots" come in over the years I worked there but he did not put on airs or make demands. Just a wonderful person.

I can proudly say I have seen The HGTs 3 times in England in Brighton I saw Geese Ausbie ,Curly Johnson and Bob Babyface Page Brilliant guys .Thanks for the memories love you all
OMG so funny. I agree with the other response, they probably couldnt do that nowadays -that and demanding a kiss by repeatedly advancing on a stranger before yelling, "Give me a kiss or I'll kick your shoes off!" --oh, and taking sips of people's Covid/Herpes drinks... Still, if Geese was playing now I bet he'd still get away with things others wouldn't dare- and everyone would love him for it - some people just have that personality.
I was very fortunate as a child to go to one of their games when Meadowlark Lemon was the man, Curly was the dribbler. Meadowlark made a couple of half court shots backwards over his shoulder facing the opposite basket without ever looking once, but he did it like it was a foul shot, no big deal, which made it even greater. Man what a showman.
These guys would demolish NBA caliber defenses with handle like that; I always wondered why only Wilt was the only well known Globetrotter alumnus. Sure it’s rehearsed but you can’t deny that level of dribbling and it would stand legally in a pro game.
Rehearsed and practiced are the same type of preparation. Globetrotters practiced and rehearsed the same as any NBA team only they have the comedy skits added in. The NBA, of course, goes for daytime soap opera level high drama.
