Rackett video's are a rare sight but this tune seems extremely popular when the Rackett is played! Great tune so can't blame anyone for playing it. Warm greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱.
Love it!!! I’m a historical music buff trying to convince the bard in my DnD campaign to play a period instrument. I offered up theorbo but they complained bc their character is a Dwarf 😂 so I said OH! RACKET!!! And this video perfectly sums up why racket is the perfect instrument for a fantasy dwarf amirite??? ❤️
@@ryankupsh9172THANK YOU!! 😂 I don’t remember this campaign well so it must’ve been short, but I do remember that I have still never convinced any of my friends to choose a real period instrument for their Bard, except boring old generic Lute 😩 (Just kidding though, I mean kite is beautiful and iconic too, just there are so many more choices and that’s the most anyone will ever pick 😂) I at least have played a musician character who had a portative organ!! Freaking love those things!!!
@AndromedaCripps I haven't played D&D (I didn't really get the opportunity), but as I was reading your comment, my mind went to the pros and cons of bringing a portative organ along on an adventure (especially since I play organ).
@@karlrovey I PLAYED A CHARACTER WHO HAD A PORTATIVE ORGAN!!!!!! A long time ago, so I don’t remember how she carried it around everywhere 😂😂 But I do remember that I found some medieval art of a woman playing a portative organ as my character art that I sent to the other players!!! I think there is no good way to carry a portative organ on an adventure unless you have a cart or a packhorse 😂 We had neither, so I think there was some element of suspension of disbelief or fantasy 😂 In summary, yes, portative organ, I think more people should use it as in instrument in DnD!! I mean there are bags that can hold hundreds of pounds of stuff in a little demiplane that you can carry around easily, so there are definitely fantasy ways to carry around a portative organ. That and clavichords deserve wayyyyy more appearances than they get in medieval fantasy. I mean people want their characters to play piano, and there’s two historic portable keyboards RIGHT THERE!!!
I am unsure how many times I have watched this. more than 10. I enjoy this sound in my soul. I wish they were more readily available... you could find 30 hurdy gurdeys before you ever found a person who knew about these. Please keep this alive, I play this often for my D&D groups.
This was so clear, well shot and cleanly played my class got it to watch for homework - so I guess your views have gone up! Anyone know where I can get a fingering chart for the Renaissance rackett I've just bought to show them?
If you have no racketts, or double reed skills, this would sound great on baritone and bass saxophones. (Its an open question which instrument has fewer adherents, the rackett or the bass sax.)

Next, the dwarf bard will complain that his fingers are too fat to cover the holes correctly.

EPIC! Renaissance fan here and I want one!!
I feel like heavy metal riffs would be a natural habitat for this. Where do I buy one?
Love this, just found out about this very intriguing instrument and this is by far my favorite video I’ve found if it
