My vote is # 5 Sometimes glass can be challenging and I love that they were from your Grandma.
Loved this video Joanie. It’s a topic that goes straight to my heart. I have a bit of a prop addiction. I also waited forever for my MMClay dishes, but it was so worth it. My favourite is the Moonstone colour. For darker moodier shots, it seems to go with everything! Can’t wait for next week’s video.
Such a lovely video!! I voted for #1 since I find all kinds of vintage enamel bowls from France and don’t really imagine what else I could photograph with them expect soup and fruits. The copper small dishes look great with roasted uncut champignons, roasted shrimps or any other recipes for ‘petites cocottes’. The scoop gave me an out of the box idea to be used as a serving tray with the belgian style french fries and maybe a juicy tall burger or stacked mini bagels or crusty croque monsieur. Can’t wait for your next video‼️
Number one! You can get very creative with those bowls, and the little rust adds some charm to them.
I love, love, love shopping for props!!! Thank you for your helpful tips!
Great video, thanks Joanie!
Hi Joannie go for no 4 those fab dishes! I love going round junks shops, especially looking for bone or wooden handled knives and forks, also got some of my grandmothers I use.
So helpful Joanie! I need to get back out to the local shops and also go scour ebay/etsy again. Inspired as always!!
Your videos are SO awesome. They are full of real, actual good advice, rather than most of the fluff produced by other youtubers. Thank you!
Dear Joanie,
It's not the first time you speak about props. I remember a few months ago you made another video with lots of plates, with textures and colours. Since this time, I often go shopping and buy some plates or glasses, even if I wouldn't use them on my table, but just to take some pictures!
Thank you for being still so nice,
Greetings from France 😍
I love shopping for props too! Have a groovy day Joanie!
You are seriously so awesome!!
Trays!! I’m always on the hunt for trays and stands to layer the image, and for small items they become a surface in their own right
Thank you for all of your videos! So much useful tips & tricks and informations to get. You are The Queen Of Food Photography for sure. :)
I live in Phoenix too. Love your content and the way you present it!. Awesome smile and Happy videos!. Keep up the great work!
Love a prop peek! Number one is my pick.
Super great video! I work full time, and try to find time for photography, but in the mean time am building a mean prop collection. I'm a little addicted. I hit Home Goods at least once a week and find some great things, and also a local city thrift and scored some super expensive dishes on a 50% off day! I love all your props and see many people suggesting gramma's glasses. I feel there are a lot of pics with glasses available online so I am voting for #1 because they are pretty unique. Thanks for always sharing amazing videos!!
I love your videos, they are very informative! Great personality!
Love your suggestions and videos! 😍
Thank you very much for useful technique.
Great suggestions and it's really helped me. Thank you! 💕
All those props look fantastic! I vote for option 5 as I would use them for blood orange and amaretti trifles.
Love your channel !!
I would say #2 because a challenge is always a good learning experience. But the scoop also sounds good. A thought I just had would be something baked on a pan and the scoop somewhere in the background or side with some flour spilling out of it. And then there's those beautiful antique bowls, I just really like those visually.
Wow great tips just discovered your channel will be subscribing and studying your tutorials thank u
Muito legal o video Joanie, parabéns!
Some great insights.
Great video as always and very insightful. By the way, very nice choice on your hair color....goes nice with you. 💯 Keep it up girl.
I see if I can buy your book before the end of the year. Great tips.
Great video, so helpful as well. thanx 😍😍😍
Awesome video Joanie!!! I’m totally going to hit up some antique shops soon to find some good props to spice up my images! Time to get back to the flash school though! You are such a badass teacher so thank you so much!
My Paleoish Life happy Thursday!!
Loved it! I vote for the green little plates!
Option 2. The color is ah-mazing! I have to admit, I'd be delighted if you chose Grandma's glasses--me being sentimental and all. 💁Thanks for the prop shopping tips!
I'm very late to this video. Thanks for the great information as always! I loved those little copper bowls with handles on them! I'm thinking turmeric creme brulee in those and really work the yellow/orange/brown earthy tones!! And yes, antique stores are.the.best!
Awesome video Jonie! I wanna see you use option number 2. I think those would be great for a nice plated dish. If you end up using option one, try using them with the dinged out spots showing in the image. I dunno just thinking it could work out. Like camp food or something.
Among your best videos Joanie - simple but functional and very helpful. That you included an interactive element is especially noteworthy. I voted for the big scoop. Though it probably won't get the most votes, I chose it because I think it would be the most challenging and thus the most interesting to see what you'd do with it.
Thank you Dyanne! I got the idea from makeup youtubers who have their viewers pick what they create. Should be a hoot to see what the people pick!
# 5 Grandmas Coupe glasses. So lovely.
Great video! Super useful 💗Thank you. Quick question: do you always also buy plates, cups and bowls in a set of three?
Thanks for another fantastic and helpful video! Petaluma, CA is my home town and I can confirm that it is an antiquing/thrifting goldmine. :D I'm casting a vote for option #4, those are so cute.
Option 4! It would be interesting to see what you can do with them.
#5 please! I've got some of those at my place as well and have no idea how to incorporate them into my food photo
Great video thanks! I vote for #3 the scoop. 😊
I just did a shoot for a spice company and they had an antiqued scoop I tried to incorporate. I would love to see how you would use the scoop.
thank you for an amazing video as always! I have a question if you don't mind: you said that there's nothing in the world more satisfying than when you shoot for a customer and you've got the perfect prop. Well, if you don't have the perfect prop, are you the one responsable for finding it and buying it? or it's the customer responsable? Ever happened that a customer gave you specific props to work with?
#3 you can use elbow noodles coming outta an old barrel. I so totally see that. I wonder have you done that? Great video. Thank you for the tips.
Hi .. I just want to tell you that I love you so much.
I love the way you smile when you talk and explain
Thank you very much for what you do here ..
I benefited a lot
I follow you from Yemen and Saudi Arabia 💖💖💖💖
Grateful for the information.
Could you make a video on best photo styling mode to choose for food photography? I was looking at all the buttons of my canon camera and this button with styling options is something I do not use often but wanted to know what photo styling mode do you think is best for food photography
Petaluma! thats my town! Sooo many antique shops out here and in Sebastopol.
Love Petaluma!! We have friends in San Rafael who we like to visit and then take little day trips with.
New subscriber here :-) I have been lurking for the past weeks.
I also vote for the scoop. I want to know what your thought process will be in featuring food in that prop. Plus it has a nice texture on it!
Actually, I got involved in pottery in the search for perfect props!
option number 1 please! Also, thank you Jonie!!
Thank you!😍
I'd love to see the scoop with some gorgeous legume 💕
so helpful
#5! Also how you pair food according to what color the prop is 😊
I'd like to see the scoop in the next video.
By the way, your Instagram account is beautiful, great photos. Love your work, thanks for sharing with us.
Near me here in Atlanta, we have a large Kroger grocery store that often stocks very interesting dishes, bowls, plates, etc. So every time I shop for groceries, I check out that section because I never know what they will have next. About 20 years ago, they had some high-end German crystal glassware and decanters so, of course, I picked up a couple pieces.

Oh thank you! Spent an hour at Goodwill yesterday just wandering around going, 'Would Joanie get that?'
Always....would Joanie use this, or OMG Joanie would love this!!
Did ya find any good stuff!? Love Goodwill ❤️
@@TheBiteShot Yeah, a little shallow textured bowl. Now, what to do with it...hmmm.
Number 3 would be very interesting 🤩
Option no 1, they are so lovely grunge!
I vote for #1, they look gorgeous!!!
...but, if you were to choose #4, I would use those copper dishes to make some sort of Indian curry. They look similar to what's used in India to serve curry :)
In Mexico City you can find a looot of things, really cheap some. There is this brand, ANFORA, with really cool props.
Would love to see option #3
Nice vibe!, what camera do you use for filming you?
Woe! You seriously look like Rebeca Robeson, the interior designer....
Btw, First time on your channel and loving it!
Any prop tips for those of us that might shoot only on location in a restaurant?
Do you have a good source for table linens? And I vote for #1.
Please use the mini copper pans! They are gorgeous! You could make mini peach cobblers w/ mint leaf garnish, blueberry tarts, mini omelets, a white chowder, maybe with corn, shrimp n grits...
You are drop dead gorgeous!
Just started a cart at Nom Living!
The scoop!
I don’t know ma’am.I like you so much.your explanation,your smiling make me happy.I learn from you.❤️
The scoop. I have one that I picked up at a thrift store and haven't used is yet.
Oh she back!
Hi! Do you ever food style using pink?
#2! the plates :)
I am not hoarding .. I am building my prop options .... 💖😂. Informative as always, thank you!
I found some nice things at Pier One. They are closing stores so many items are 40% off
The best!
#2 - maybe something with a red sauce to compliment the green highlights in the plates, maybe a properly sized cheese wheel with the right red wax coating...
Olá, sempre vejo seus videos, são um show. Poderia ter legendas para português Brasil, grande abraço de Rodrifo Fotos...
I vote option #3!
Is there a prop shop in Boston?
Which Etsy shop did you get those plates from please?!
Hey there, all the props are great but to add a little love into your next session, I would use your Grandmother's glasses, as a tribute to her.
Option 4!
Grandma's clear glasses!!
Maybe there's a 12-step program for prop junkies??? I'm sure the scoop is going to win and that's my vote too. It seems the most challenging.
I keep picking up cool pieces around down, most often incidental findings at thrift shops, or home shops like world market, pier one, or Marshall’s. 🙋🏾♀️I have two main questions: #1 How do I store and organize my props #2 Are there any tricks to planning shots on a budget... like do I have to go spend $50 on food to shoot that will just go waste after 😕 Please help...I am obviously a novice at this FOOPHO thing🤓
How about a beautiful layered tiramisu on grandma’s cup with the scoop out to focus in the background spilling coffee beans
The DJ oooh, a two for one!!!
The Bite Shot Maybe even push it with the tray at the bottom!! 😱
what's the m clay one???
#4 the cool lil trays get my vote though this was a year ago so Im sure you probably already figured it out.
#4 all day..
:)
Brilliant props ... I see we suffer from the same prop problem xx
I vote for option 3
You get massive props for the props video.
MrV2u yesssssss!!!! #puns
Not sure if anyone will see this because this video is a year old, but magnolia has a sale going on for the 4th of July
just voted :) cant wait for next video..
#2 with Key lime Pie, toasted meringue.
