With Endgame finally here, we decided on a spoiler free reflection on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as a whole. But, why does James only like the individual Marvel movies and not The Avengers? Kieran certainly does. Justin barely cares about anything, but he likes the Avengers. There's been 21 movies over a decade, it's basically the Star Wars of this generation.

Endgame was one of the best depictions of Mobius Strip/Alternate Reality Mechanics we've seen. The non existent plot holes are in peoples' heads. I think James' video here, it may have just been a long ad, with purposeful divisiveness used to garner hits for said ad. How anybody takes him seriously, here, is beyond me...

Theres too many marvel movies that is sequel to iron man. I hope MCU films ends, because if your a MCU beginner, you have to watch all the movies (if your not interested to one of characters, then you don't have to watch it.). If your interest in one of the character, you have to watch their movies before you watch the avengers.
I feel the same. Other than infinity war I don't like avengers movies. They just lack something.

they come to theater i own and sadly township wont allow for theater parking so its 2 hr limits. i have tried to get theater parking. but i tend to get up and take care of their parking so they can watch the flick. but i was busy so i had to keep letting james back into the building

Sure the tone in Ragnarök is different, but Ragnarök is up there with the best.

It's a conspiracy political thriller not unlike one Redford was in decades ago with a French Connection car chase.
I guess for a lot of people there just wasn't enough CG, lens flare, and flashing lights, though.

I think this is why I like everything about what James created cinnemassacre into. He’s got his opinions and here and there they don’t align with the masses, and that’s definitely fine. It’s another perspective on things that you sometimes don’t look at, although James had to keep things vague, that’s fine too.

I really love the movies and respect that James doesn't like them. Same thing with me and Zelda:BotW: I think it strays too far from the Zelda dungeon formula and is not a great game compared to its predecessors. Zelda:Links Awakening is my favorite and I'm quite sure the remake will equally delight and replace the original for my best Zelda game.

I think what separates Civil War from the other ensemble movies is that it's still centered around one character. Sure everybody shows up, but Captain America's ongoing conflict with the modern world is the main focus. Whereas the Avengers movies are generally massive in scope. Personally, I always liked Winter Soldier a bit more than Civil War, because it feels more tightly focused with Cap and a few supporting characters.
John Christopher you’re absolutely right. Civil War is more focused and has direction. I also think that’s why Infinity War is the best Avengers movie, it’s pretty much the Thanos movie.

I enjoy the marvel movies but, like james, i haven't been able to keep up. After a google search, it appears i'm six movies behind.
I've missed whole train. I tried to watch some Avengers movie and I did not know any characters before. Movie didn't work. They should have a title for whole series (and avengers or thor etc as a subtitle) with numbering so casual like me could follow without research.
Not all are essential viewing. You'd probably be alright if you stuck to the most important ones and youtubing some of the more important post credit scenes.
There's plenty of lists online that'll tell you what is essential viewing I'm sure.

He repeatedly says he doesn't really know why he doesn't like them and then spitballs a couple of possibilities but he never backs up his beliefs with anything tangible. Definitely not one of the guys' better videos and a very weak showing from James.

The solo movies and Civil War were driven by character whereas the Avengers movies are driven more by plot. I can't get as invested in them for the same reason.
They're all driven by special effects and little else.

I have the same problem with the Harry Potter movies. Just can't get into them.
Fantasy isn’t my thing but the reason why I was able to stick with HP is because there were simply less movies being released. This made it easier for me to follow and I was able to understand the story at a year or two pace. Marvel not only releases multiple movies a year for the MCU but they also have tv shows which connect to the universe which just becomes too much for some audiences including myself.
However I would much rather take the MCU over anything related to Fantastic Beasts and where to fuck them.

@@rmn0019 My wife likes the Potter movies and the books and I enjoy watching them movies with her. I think what turns me off to it is the fact they "say" their spells as they're casting them, and I really don't like that. Sounds corny (to me) and I can't take it seriously like I'm supposed to. The Dresden Files does it better for me. Also for some reason, I can't retain any of the plot that is going on in them. Like I'll watch one, and it's as if my brain is just blocking all that information coming to me from the movie. Lol
I think the lesson here is quality over quantity.

I think it's because James isn't entertained by gratuitous CG. Because that's 80% of the Avengers movies.
The other Marvel movies are more focused on telling a solid story, which is probably what he prefers.
Or maybe it's just the runtime.
Maybe it's because he doesn't see them in theaters. The effects probably aren't as crazy to watch on the "small" screen.
Even though James doesn't like The Avengers movies (it's cool he has nothing against the MCU as a whole though) I still respect the hell out of this guy. Hes not talking down to people who like the movies, just his honest thoughts.

I always seem to notice that ppl who are real big movie buffs in general dont like these movies. You want complete stories, these crossover films are rooted in other films. If you didnt like those films or the medium where they originated, you wont like these. And that's okay. Everyone raves they are so good movies, but you as someone who loves movies, know it is just alright at best and there is like 100s of better movies out there. That is think is the crux of it.
I enjoy these movies, but fuck they feel like $200 million episodes to a tv show. most of these movies don’t have actual endings
I actually disagree with you completely. I'm a huge film buff and even studied film. And I love most of these films. Like any franchise there are weak ones. But for the most part. I love them. Especially the Avengers ones. I think you are reaching a false conclusion based off of this one video. As James Rolf is actually probably in the minority as it pertains to film fanatics on you tube.

Never had any interest in the Avenger movies. I really like the stand alone movies with quirky/interesting characters (Guardians of the Galaxy, Dr. Strange, Antman etc...)

James; you nailed it. I always find myself wondering about other stuff about half way through the Avenger's movies, or going to the restroom, or getting a refill . . . I want to love these movies, but I just can't be bothered to do it.
Even though you're not a big fan of the Avengers movies, I still respect you. Not everybody's gonna enjoy them. Have to respect one's opinion.
They didnt mention Winter Soldier which is my personal favorite, it has a cool spy thriller feel to it.

Winter Soldier is next on my to watch list, I heard it's one of the best MARVEL films.
