  • The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan, along with the Detroit music duo Insane Clown Posse (ICP), filed a federal lawsuit today on behalf of Juggalos, or fans of ICP, claiming that their constitutional rights to expression and association were violated when the U.S. government wrongly and arbitrarily classified the entire fan base as a "hybrid" criminal gang.

I've been a fan of ICP since '94 an I still follow and listen to ICP. I've bought their albums, action figures, t-shirts and also have The Wraith as a tattoo.
20yrs later, I'm 38yr old, I have a university degree, I have my own home and raise my son as a single parent and I work freelance in media. The most trouble I've been in with the police was a speeding ticket (for doing 34 in a 30 zone). My ICP items are my way of showing appreciation and support these musicians, I sure as hell no gang member who needs monitoring by the FBI, I am simply a fan of a band who make music I enjoy.

Holy shit I must be affiliated in hundreds of gangs because I have Van Halen, Motley Crue, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, The Beatles, Warrant, Poison, Pantera, Jimi Hendrix, Cradle of Filth, Slayer, Insane Clown Posse, HateBreed, Rage Against The Machine, Guns n' Roses, and more T-shirts. I guess I'm a criminal for having T-shirts even though I graduated High School and don't have a criminal record or back round. I have a good job and a family but I guess because of the items I own that I purchased in tons of different stores with in the USA, that makes me a piece of shit.

I am a Juggalo; I have loved "Insane Clown Posse" since the age of seven. A year or two ago, I was in New York City visiting a friend. I was walking down the street wearing a shirt containing the six Joker’s Cards. I was harassed by the NYPD and was nearly arrested.
It began when I was walking through St. Marks Place in Manhattan. I was browsing through the gift shops when all of a sudden an NYPD cruiser approached me with the lights flashing. Two police officers exited the vehicle and demanded that I stop walking and stay where I was. They insisted that I stand against the wall of a building. They threatened to arrest me if I did not obey their commands. One officer began to search me while the other was asking me a series of questions like “What’s your name? Where are you from? Where are you going? Do you have any drugs on you?”
I explained to them that I was not t doing anything wrong and they had no right to search me. They threatened to take me to jail if I said another word. After searching me and finding NOTHING, a dark colored vehicle pulled up next to the police car. A man dressed relatively casually exited the vehicle holding a digital camera. He took three or four pictures of me and my clothing. I was asked to turn around so he could snap a picture of the Hatchet Man on the back of my T-shirt. The police went through my bag and took a few shots of the other Psychopathic clothing that I had. After the man got his pictures, he drove off.
The police told me to go back to where I was staying. They told me that they don’t want to see me walking the streets for the rest of the night. They gave me all of my stuff back while looking at me like I was a bug that needed to be squashed. They then got back into their car and drove off. I was completely incapable of defending myself due to the threat of being arrested if I spoke.
I am a good, law abiding American citizen who was treated like a criminal because I was wearing a T-shirt of a band that I admire. I am not a gang member, I have no criminal record, I do not traffic or use drugs, I attend college and I happen to be a fan of Psychopathic Records. There was no reason for the authorities to treat me the way that they did.

I support this lawsuit because I have been down sense dog beats. He might be putting on an act but that is because he is trying to help us not himself. We need to do our part. In the way of not allowing the new generations (not all of them) to act like they do and allow them to act as if they are part of a gang.

This is so true. I am happy that Joe Bruce is saying this because if I was naive enough to get a hatchet man tattoo at the age of 14 or something, it could cause a lot of trouble for myself. Especially since that was 12 and a half years ago.

Look at those two fogeys on the right smiling away. They're the real clowns. ICP as much as I hate their music, they're just entertainers. If the FBI think it's okay to single out ICP fans because a few dozen out of a million have committed horrendous crimes then they might as well do the same to all people who wear t shirts advertising Quentin Taurintino, Cannibal Corpse or liking the Grand Theft Auto games on facebook. Violent J may not be college educated like those smiling fools are, but that doesn't mean he isn't entitled to have an opinion and in all honestly what he says makes a lot of sense.

Violent J himself said that Juggalos are gang members.ABK's first album Hatchet Warrior the song Gang Related and I quote ver batem "If you rep the hatchetman, you in a gang and yo ass better be ready to do that thang." Do you need more proof that being a Juggalo means that you're in a gang?
