    paint changes colors as it ages with sun. that leftover paint was most likely the original color so it might be best to just paint the whole ceiling so that its all the same.

    • @28bruch
      @28bruch Před 2 měsíci +3

      Someone once recommended to mix the paint with some dust to match the colour that aged, but I haven't tried it and don't know if it would actually work.

  • @KittyxKult
    @KittyxKult Před 2 měsíci +17

    I think your ceiling just needs a full repaint. What probably happened is the paint they used faded over time or has been discolored (candle use can tint your paint!) so it no longer matches (or it separated in the can). The best thing to do is just do a full repaint lol

    I have similar feelings about Ann Patchett! The books that I’ve read from her have been quiet character studies with very little plot, but there’s something so compelling about her writing that they’re hard to put down. I recently read and loved her newest book, Tom Lake. I’d highly recommend the audiobook, which is narrated by Meryl Streep.

      I dissected The Poisonwood Bible so thoroughly in school that I don’t think there’s a single book I know with more granularity. There are parts of Ada’s chapters, like the William Carlos Williams reference, that opened my mind to writing as a craft.

    The paint situation - from what i have been told, by multiple professional painters that we've hired, if you touchup an area, it will be noticeable regardless
    if it's the correct color. We were told you need to paint the entire wall or ceiling so those "marks" won't show. It has something to do with how "old" the paint job is. When we moved into our current home that is 15+ years old, my son's room looked like your ceiling and the painter we hired was like yeah, that's what touch ups will do. Probably not what you want to hear, but thought I'd share my experience with repainting an entire house recently

    My grandma received spice world as a gag gift for Christmas when I was a kid. She had no interest in it but let me and my sister watch it because she figured its a kids movie. My mom definitely would not have let us watch it if she knew the contents of the movie, but we loved it. We ended up watching it multiple times when we visited our grandma's house. So many scenes stick out to me. The aliens, the assless chaps, the bridge jump, the concert scene. So entertaining!

    Re: 1998: If you haven't read Paradise by Toni Morrison, I would definitely recommend that one. I have seen 1997 and 1998 for publication years. It's an absolute fave of mine and one of her lesser mentioned books. First line: "They shoot the white girl first. With the rest they can take their time." Obviously, it explores themes of violence against women. Also, I recommend Trash Lands by Alison Stine (not 1998, just your trope) as a quiet dystopian. The themes on safety of women in society and the threats of materialism for future generations are expertly explored.

We take returns and tint them then put it on an oops shelf at a discounted price so it won’t go to waste) then take like a dime or quarter size paint chip off your ceiling and get a color match! It’s nearly impossible to match it the way you’re doing haha trust me and best of luck to fixing your ceiling !! You can look up videos about how to smoothly take out a paint chip :)

    I saw The Pact by Jodi Picoult in your scroll through 1998 options at the end! One of my most favorite authors - if you haven’t given her a try yet, would recommend!

    I feel like Jacqueline Wilson books read pretty young, but always touch on subjects that are important for young people to read about like grooming, grief, depression, death, and just generally growing up and how that affects relationships

    I gave Ann Patchet’s book Tom Lake 5 stars (audiobook incredibly narrated by Meryl Streep), because of the writing, the characters, the dialogue (which Patchet has a real skill writing), and the feelings it gave me. But I agree, Patchet’s books are mostly “slice of life” books that don’t do all that much aside from bring us into someone’s life.

    Jacqueline Wilson is a UK icon! My Sister Jodie traumatised me a little growing up, JW definitely covers a lot of hard hitting topics in a digestible way for younger kids. My 1998 rec is Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters!!
