I mutu kau noa atu te hanga waiata nei ki te whare o Riki Pītama i Rāpaki, nāna te kupu “Ūpoko Āriki” hei huringa ingoa i tā mātou ko te “Taikākā Āriki” kē. Ko te rā whakaoti ai, ko te 10.08.09 My wife Angela and I completed the composition of this waiata at Riki Pītama’s home in Rāpaki on 09.10.08. He advised that the Ngāi Tahu term for Taikākā Āriki, (which was penned in the original draft), as being Ūpoko Āriki, hence the lyric is composed here as it stands to further recognise the iwi. The composition was completed on the 10th of August 2009.
