I’m a young diver still in my 20s. I started out with the modern equipment with BCs and octopuses, but I started diving with double hoses and absolutely fell in love but struggle to find ways to be able to modernize the old pieces of art. Where can I send my old double hoses to get modernized?
great info, My procedure differs a bit but the essential is the same., first, I use 1" chair leg rubber foot to plug the inlet and the outlet of the double hose regulator head and I made male plugs from plumber's 1" plastic hose plug to plug the ends of my hoses so I'm sure that nothing enters when in storage. very good topic very good video.
Hi Alec, great advice for new divers. Was great to see you talking about the twin hose regs again. Great picture of Rob 😂 I've got a Voit which I bought from Rob all silicone & upgraded. Beautiful reg, breaths great. Love using it. I've got 8 in my collection. Two I bought from you as I'm sure you know. Great videos as always Alec. Please can we have more on vintage equipment. I would advise any one who is passionate about their diving to get involved in vintage diving 👌
I will do more vintage, have to get Kevin up to the ranch but his schedule has been full the last months. There will be more Vintage Scuba, mostly because Kevin wanted to start with that back in the beginning. A
When I start diving first in 70s I use us divers aquamaster royal, still have it and keep it exactely the way you show. whould be great if you create video how to full service them, there might be things I dont know. Thank you
Hi Alec. You forgot One important step, Hide Your reg collection from your wife. Out of sight ,out of mind, after all spring cleaning may take place. Good tip about keep it out of sunlight because of the UV rays, however Florescent lights in your garage or basement also give off UV. So a dark cupboard or closet is a better choice. Ps the rum will sterilize everything. Take care Owen m
That works for others. When I retired, one half of our huge garage was all vintage stuff. Taken 5 years to get it sorted, videos made and sold. Hide it where she will never look, in HER closet. A
Not anymore. Sold all my parts and tools to my vintage scuba buddies. If you need one worked on, contact my buddy Rob at: www.thescubamuseum.com/contact/contact.htm. Tell him Alec sent you and says hi. A
This was an upgrade called the Phoenix from VintageDoubleHose.com. Sadly the owner Bryan passed away and the vintage community is working to take over and resume manufacturing of this conversion. A
Hi Alec i accidentally got fresh water in my argonaut kraken the first time i used it i talked to the late Bryan God Bless him and he said to hook it up to the tank and let it dry out and it will be fine would you agree thanks, last would you have any badges like the one on the aqualung your showing the one I bought a couple of years ago was never used but someone took of the large decal. Thanks again.
Replacement decals for Aqua-Master's are available from several online sources. Give Rob a try at: www.thescubamuseum.com/Online%20Store/onlinestore.htm. Ask is if he knows where to find the model you want. I miss dear Bryan and the great contribution he gave vintage divers with the Kraken. Yup, hook up and dry out. A
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter Thanks for always replying. Keep the videos coming. I miss you in the dive shop with tec tips and long hose crazy controversy. Those were some heated exchanges, seems like everyone has taken a breather, thank God.
Good idea. If there is a well known, and widely available product, I will mention it. However, i get lots of feedback from viewers in countries with poor delivery asking for substitutes. Best I can do is suggest they Google similar products that is available to them but this gets really repetitive so I limit my product names for these reasons. A

The only true modern double hose, the Kraken, is not in production anymore. You can get updated vintage regs, fully serviced with modern components similar to the one i'm holding. Check out my friend Rob's online store to see the range of vintage regs you can dive. Rob's web site is: www.thescubamuseum.com/Online%20Store/onlinestore.htm A
Did you see the recent video of the underwater earthquake in Indonesia’s Banda Sea? I wonder if it rousted up any Lionfish? Where's Cougar? Tanks guys.
Imagine Alec as your neighbor how awesome that would be.
Especially with vintage scuba 🙂
You would hear my scuba bells ringing in the wind.

Good idea. In a future Vintage Scuba, i may do a take apart (not of Kevin's!) to show viewers how simple these double hose regs were.

I have a set of Genesis Prana Regs. Brand New. Hasn't been in the water yet. I placed them in my Reg bag

When did you dive double hose for the last time Alec ?
It was 2019 at the Silver Springs Florida, Sea Hunt Forever event. Look it up on Facebook to see pictures from that event.

I thought you'll write last double hose dive was yesterday 🙂

I sanitize my second stages with Steramine twice a year. Just to kill anything that was missed.

You can put a condom on the intake and the exhaust valve ends. Preferably not a used one.
That is really safe diving.
