  • Today's review is of a lovely ochre-liveried Terrier that has made me want to collect more of them, to build up a nice fleet of gorgeous-looking locomotives.

Looks lovely. I too remember Stepney from the Railway Series - especially the story of the cricket match and Caroline the car.
As for the sand pipes they probably wouldn't have stayed red for very long in service. So maybe some subtle weathering would do the trick.
    Great review! Thanks.

Stroud livery absolutely superb. Wish we still had people like Stroudly running things today.

Hi Jenny, A most enjoyable and well detailed review. A lovely model and the running looks perfect - even at slow speed crossing the points. Wish Hornby took care of all its products in the same way. Thanks for sharing & greetings, Filip

To confirm, Brighton is currently in Southern green as W11 NEWPORT (though it doesn't carry the name at present). It is the only operational terrier at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway as sister terrier W8 FRESHWATER is undergoing a boiler overhaul

i think this model is perfect for the price, not so exspensive that it puts of to many people , it has some faults but i think sometimes the price point the loco is at has its limits. There are alternatives if people want to take detail further, but for the majority of the modeling word this looks perfect

Hello Jenny, great review. Is there a lot of difference between Honrby's first and later batches of Terriers, besides the recessed tank tops? If if you can't get enough of that nice improved engine green, may I suggest Merton? What a stunner, and comes in beautiful presentation box too.

why a 3 pole motor. Looks beautiful, but Hornby let themselves down again with performance.
