Live it up ma'am, ZINDAGI MILEGI NA DOBARA 😁
Was searching for Spanish omelette recipe in 2020 (Yes, the lockdown made all of us better cooks) and came across this channel. And this was my first formally educated Spanish dish.
And thanks to Albert Bevia again 🙏
This plantbased person appreciates this meal so simple yet flavorful
Glad to hear! much love :)
It's not a meal, it's a side dish.
@@raycaruso8026 You can use this as an appetizer, a side dish or a light lunch. I like to add vegan sausage for a really hearty meal.
@@raycaruso8026 You can make anything a meal, you don't have to have a hunk of meat or bread next to it for it to be a meal. Peppers, onion garlic and potatoes is a meal, but of course as long as it's not EVERY meal. You don't have to have all food groups every time you eat, you can do it throughout the day. Eating meat, carbs, potatoes, real veggies, fruits, etc for every meal would just make you sick. Unless of course you are eating veggies, fruit, lean meats and healthy grains in the appropriate portion, which most people don't.
@@joeb4142 You can use it as a full meal too, if you want! Fried potatoes even in olive oil isn't exactly not heavy.
You really cannot possibly go wrong with potatoes and onions!
Agreed!!! much love :)
When I was a young lad, we learned a song:::
Onions and potatos..
He who peels is sure of his meals...
Onions and potatos
Not exactly imaginative.
Or potatoes & cornbeef!!
Italians make a similar dish and with scrambled eggs....best eating is this peasant style!
You should try “Irish Potatoes”.... Begin by boiling them, keep boiling them, boil them some more, eat them
and mash them with some butter and milk
Butter, scallions, milk.....fry, then add your mashed spuds....... proper job
LMAO. SO accurate!
New potatoes is the best job with the milk, scallions, salt pepper and butter,
Very similar to a recipe I found for boiling water. Boil the hell out of it. When it starts to bubble, it's ready.
Gotta make this. I like that fact that it has a short ingredient list, with no hard-to-find ingredients; gracias.
Hope you enjoy! Much love :)
I really love how so many of your recipes are so simple and inexpensive, and so flavourful!
Much love :)
I like your style - simple and healthy products, easy recipies, well edited clips without too much talk.
Great work
Much love :)
It was one of my childhood dishes. Mum still cooks it. The only difference is garlic's skin peeled off. Sometimes she adds1 spoon red pepper puree. Forgot to say, I'm from Turkey.
WOW! Kind of an 'international' recipe! I've often baked these ingredients together, covered (with butter) but never the boil/fry method used in Spain and...apparently Turkey;)
@@Alwizcaliteach Yes, I always made these even in the US, but always put the potatoes in along with everything else!
But you ain't no Turkey.
I'm going to try this! 😃
Yummy, biber salaçası in potatoes, I’m gonna try this. 😋
I love it when I find vegan dishes from other countries than my own. Thank you! 👍🤗🇩🇪
Much love :)
Likewise! "Peasant food" with no processed junk or animal products, is not only healthier for our wallets but also our bodies, our planet, and of course the animals!
“My body will not be a tomb for other creatures.” - Leonardo da Vinci
I just love the simplicity of all of these recipes. The food is SO clean yet sooo flavorful and also so easy and so cheap. This is my go-to channel for when I know i want something to eat but I don't know what I want. LOL It honestly doesn't take long at all to whip up one of these delicious recipes. Although many of these recipes seem vegan already, the recipes that are not vegan are SO easy to make vegan. Spain on a Fork never disappoints. Additionally, I would love for you to know...in your honor, we are having a "Spain on a Fork" tapas party. Some friends and I will enjoy your cuisine and have a great time.
I am so happy to hear that! Much love :)
In USA, all of the Spanish cuisine that I've seen has been very expensive. It's so great to see a everyday humble food from Spain. I'm going to make this!
Thanks for the comment :) much love!
I grew up eating lots of poor mans food...as my mom said.” Sticks to the ribs and fills you up.
I stick to the ribs, and they fill me right up
Is it me or anyone else find that chopping satisfying. 😂😂.. Kudos to the dish.. ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the comment :) much love
Yes it is you only.
Not me, his knife is blunt and I can hear it and feel it ,but the food looks delicious.😊
This guy is my favourite TV chef off all time...
Much love :)
My grandfather was born in Spain and I remember him making this for me when I was a child. He used a few different ingredients but it is basically the same.
Peasant food is some of the best food. Love this!
I totally agree! Much love :)
I am a peasant food kinda girl!
Miranda Mom Ditto!
Kay Brown I totally agree!!
Isn't most 'world cuisine' derived from peasant food?
I made this today from your recipe! It was delicious and perfect for
A Vegetarian like me! Thank you, Spain on a Fork.
With Love from Australia. ✿
Wonderful! Much love to Australia from España :)
@@SpainonaFork I'm making them in Australia today! Would you add a pinch of paprika to the dish? Thinking about doing that.
@@chrsyates I know you aren't making them NOW but you probably could add any seasonings you like! Paprika would probably pair well since most of his dishes use paprika, and you could add whatever you like on potatoes! Not much doesn't go with garlic, onions, bell peppers and potatoes. A very good staple that is versatile. This recipe is so simple and probably great on it's own, too!
@@tinntinnamp thanks! I did add some smoked paprika and it worked very well. I've made a few of his recipes, they're great.
Who knew that my Covid-19 budget food was a classic Spanish recipe? My mother never made anything like this, and I'm not of Spanish descent. I hope the Spanish spirit who whispered in my ear in my kitchen hangs around for a long time!
Thanks for the comment :) much love
The best and most iconic dishes are "poor man's" dishes. One of the simplest and most enjoyable ways to discover foreign cultures.
I totally agree! much love :)
I agree. Delicious!
Potatoes 🥔 are everyone’s best friend.
It’s hard not to be fed this well when you’re cooking with potatoes
Viva! 🥔
Yes!!! Much love :)
The first time I ate them was in Granada in 1977. Phenomenal dish. I'll probably make them this weekend.
Sounds great! much love :)
Bravo! No Meat needed! I would stand in line for a plate of this!
Joe from Germany
Yes! Much love :)
Honestly peasants knew how to eat healthier and they learned to make tasty dishes with simple ingredients, which in my humble opinion taste so much better! Thank you for sharing! Just joined your channel. Stay well and keep posting tasty recipes!
Add a tbsp of coriander powder and a tsp of cumin powder towards the end. And garnish at the end with a lot of cilantro. Now you have a classic indian dish....
A friend of mine gave me this exact recipe on march. Already tried and it's too plain for me. So I add curry powder and it taste heavenly 💜
@@snowyconfession And that!
Ha ha we all eat and like the same food. How about the varieties of fried dough?
Tex-Mex
Coriander and Cilantro are the same.
Your technique is only surpassed by your very clear instructions. Bravo!
Thank you! Much love :)
Watching you cook this made my mouth salivate. Most of your recipes are very economical and who needs meat with recipes like these.
Glad you like them! Much love :)
My father is from Madrid and finding this channel is so cool. Can't wait to surprise him with a few dishes. Thank you!
Hope you enjoy! Much love :)
I think potatoes are universal poor man's food...I love them
Lmao I think potato's are just lived by everyone just happens to be cheap
And pretty good nutrition too. Including vitamin C which was a surprise to me.
I can't imagine life without potatoes.
Rice and potato boil. Nothing wrong with it
Absolutely. More nutritious than rice or pasta too.
I am from India. A pure vegetarian. Thank you
Thanks for the comment :) much love
Cow milk gives beef smell. It is the by product of animal. It is not vege item. Vege item ,only come from plants.
@@fshs1949 Dairy can be part of a vegetarian diet, but not a vegan diet.
"Pure Vegetarian" is the original term for "Vegan"
@@fshs1949 we, vegetarian Indians use milk and milk products lavishly in our food and don't consider it as non veg even though it is an animal product. Milk does not smell like beef.
Made this today, Thanksgiving, in place of husband’s EXCELLENT Mashed potatoes as he agreed to give it a try!! HE LOVES THIS DISH!! He said it is better than the mashed potatoes!! What I like the most is that it is infinitely LOWER IN CALORIES than mashed potatoes. He had never had Yukon Gold potatoes and just loved them. I had your video running while making for step by step instructions so I wouldn’t mess up. It came out beautifully and we both loved the full garlic clove to just pop in and eat!!! THIS is a new favorite in my home and I KNOW I will be making this many more times. Oh, when he heard you say put it with eggs in the morning his eyes lit up!! Said, I’m doing that tomorrow!! As you can tell... this was a mega HIT in our home! You are a favorite now and I will be looking for more wonderful recipes!!
I am so happy to hear that!!! much love to you both :)
Spain on a Fork FYI.... this morning husband told me he woke up THINKING about last nights meal, especially the potatoes!! He has NEVER said that before and we have been married 42 yrs!! THANK YOU for helping make a memorable meal that REALLY IMPRESSED!!! God’s blessings on you and your house.
Really like your low key, simple approach to explaining things - CheerZ!
I appreciate that! much love :)
Yeah,he talked as if he is beside you.
I’m not Spanish 😉 but I have been making this kind of dish for years. I thought it was my recipe.😋🇦🇺🇺🇸
I was thinking the same thing! I learned how to make this when I was a child (I'm 67 now!). And also am not Spanish.
@@leal536 Leanne, I’m 77😉 I sometimes add kielbasa when I want something meaty, it goes well.😉🌷
😂😂.. I am Indian and I make it too
I had no idea. I've cooked them lots of times.

What a fabulous recipe!
You are the best chef ever! .. You always make everything easy to understand and explain everything step by step...
Keep up the great work it's wonderful 😊

I am addictive to your recipes they are so good and quick to make
Happy to hear that! Much love :)
After becoming a subscriber of your amazing channel, I learnt that Spanish cuisine consists of the simplest ingredients combined in the most beautiful way. Yesterday I tried the mushroom paella you uploaded on Friday and it was really one of the awesomest dishes I've ever eaten! And this recipe is next on my to do list. It's so mouth watering!! Truly magical! Hope you have a great week ahead Sir. Stay blessed 😊

Thanks for inspiration. I made this today as side dish to pork chops and it was excelent!
Wonderful! Thanks for the comment :) much love
Growing up in the 50s and 60s my mum had 6 children to feed you had to eat what was put in front of you no microwave meals etc just good home cooked food that was filling and not costing a lot of money
Those are the best foods! Thanks for the comment :) much love
Love this guy! Fast and tasty recipes delivered enthusiastically. Winner!
Much love :)
So I actually cooked like this my whole life, I love simply rustic meals with fresh ingredients, I also do this as traybake in the oven. Greetings from the Netherlands/ Amsterdam
👋🌞🇳🇱
Sounds great! Much love :)
Thanks for the inspiration, I will pair with fried eggs, substitute jalapeño for green bell pepper, hand crush the garlic out of the skins and add some ancho Chile powder, with a nice glass of Malbec, it will deserve a chefs kiss thank you 😘
This has been a Sunday breakfast side dish in my family for decades. We dice all the ingredients. I somethings add sliced kielbasa.
Kielbasa added sounds good.
Fabulous dish... Explicas todo súper bien... Incredible with fried eggs!
Thank you :) Much love!
Potatoes with onions, paprika and garlic is a Spanish dish? An 'iconic' Spanish dish? I learn something new every day. The whole world really needs to show its gratitude to Spain, where the feck would we be without them?
Sadly, Spanish food is very under-rated, much love :)
Cooked this tonight and added some skinned broad beans from our allotment and a sprinkle of paprika, really lovely recipe, simple but tasty and healthy.. gorgeous
Sounds great! Much love :)
The Indian equivalent of Poor Man's potatoes is poorer than this. Just potatoes, salt and a few other condiments like turmeric/ chillies/cumin
haha, i was about to say that !....just a simple tadka of mustard , hing and jeera in a splash of oil on boiled potatoes, all mashed up with a green chilly in it.
I was thinking to add some chaat masala when he adds his seasoning ......
@@aadarshkadambi9319 yep, absolutely delicious!
I tried this version this morning, it was very good. I cheated a bit by putting two eggs on it though.
True..but yummy !
This is how I make my potatoes!! My family came to the USA from Spain many generations ago. guess my ancestors were chanelling me when I put these ingredients together.
Thanks for the comment :) Saludos from España!

Who knew that I was making Spanish potatoes over here in Tasmania? I thought I was just eating sauteed potatoes, onions and peppers with homegrown eggs.
Where is Tasmania?
I make the same but add chopped spam.
Do you always grow your own eggs
@@Jan-qq9xc Tasmania is the island state to the south of Australia. 41 degrees south latitude.
@@Michael-rr8ez Pretty much! I often have enough to share, but sometimes the hens go on strike for a few weeks. It is possible to preserve the surplus though by putting fresh newlaid eggs in a bucket of limewater, and they keep for a year if necessary.
Hello, I love that tip with the garlic. Making a slit with the knife...thank you...♡

This for lunch today. Had no green pepper on hand so substituted a yellow bell and a large jalapeno with seeds and membrane removed. Wow, what a hit! Only one thing better than one of your potato recipes--and that's two of them. You are awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it! much love :)
I love this channel! So straightforward and easy to follow.

Patatas didn't exist in Spain during the Middle Ages; neither did certain peppers and tomatoes because they were first found in South America, AFTER 1500.
Soon as he said that...
1570 1st potatoes in Spain.... not exactly medieval.
... but thanks for the amazing recipe, eh guys?
So, a staple for 400 years, eh? Long enough to become classic, eh?
Well I think we make traditions of the foods we eat. Good heavens after 1500 was 500+ years ago. We have "traditional pecan pie" not developed until the 1930's and it's a thanksgiving traditional desert where I live.
Wow, i'm Filipino and i binged watching your videos. 😘

What a beautiful way of explaining This dish. Congrats. Eres genial 🤩

Looks delicious and perfect for brunch or a side dish for the holidays !! Thank you so much !!

What a fun and colorful dish to prepare with potatoes taking center stage! I am going to make this! It makes for a nice flavorful brunch dish, too!
Hope you enjoy! Much love :)
My wife and I make this dish during the winter months, comfort food. We also add in thinly sliced kielbasa sausage, as much as you like. We usually get them in a package at the grocery, about 12 inches should be enough, but everyones love the kielbasa sausage. This makes a more complete meal.
Recently moved to Spain and I wanted to learn more Spanish cooking, especially with vegetables because our market is stuffed with them! Made these last night, lovely! Keep up the good work, I've just bought the ingredients for your seafood soup. That's next!

I grew up having Patate alla Povera on a regular basis, sometimes with a sliced hot Hungarian, or some paprika, or a diced tomato that would caramelize a little with the onions and peppers. This is a great dish and you did an awesome job! Subscribed!

I've made very similar dishes often over the years. I usually make it for breakfast with some Portuguese sausage added to the mix and scrambled egg w/ toast on the side! Great video, Chef. I have been making this dish for many years, as my waistline can testify. I tend to add some smokey bacon to the recipe, as it gives it a more interesting taste. Being a Welshman, I guess my recipe is Welsh potatoes. 😁
