- Night at the Museum is all about museum displays coming to life at night, from dinosaur skeletons to Egyptian mummies, wax figures of historical figures, miniatures from dioramas, and more... And the tiny cowboy and the tiny Roman soldier are totally in love, right?

The Tiny Cowboy and Roman my beloved first OTP before I even knew that shipping existed
same
Dude child me knew they were fruity before I even know that being gay existed-
Same lol
Fun fact Jedediah and Octavius actually invented enemies to lovers, so wild
Yeah!!! Like I've been shipping them since I was, i dunno, 7 or 8! I didn't even know what the concept was!! Or that being gay was a thing! I just liked these two a lot and wanted them to share more time together and hold hands more!
There are more Jedtavius fics on AO3 than there are fics for the entirety of James Cameron's "Avatar" and I will never pass up an opportunity to remind people of that.
And you shouldn't, the people deserve to know
Man now I'm gonna go read them
Are there a lot of Avatar fics or something?
I am intrigued by this information
This is soooo funny thank you
"Smile my boy, it's sunrise." Why am I crying?
Probably because by the time this movie came out, Robin Williams had already been gone for four months…sorry…or because it was one of his last movies. Either way…I’m with you, tears welling in my eyes.
Me too man, me too
Thank you for all the likes, everyone!
you’re not the only one, I would be holding back tears every time I watched that movie
You sure as hell are, and I definitely am not. No way. I am totally stone faced. Yep, absolutely dead inside.
Fun story: When I was a little kid and the second movie had just come out, my family and I went on a trip to DC. We were riding a tour bus, and the guide asked if anyone had any questions. I, being the silly child I was, asked if the exhibits came to life at night. The tour guide said yes. Over a decade later and I have not forgotten that moment.
Aw that's cute
Truly an iconic of society, that your guide will be remembered forever
That’s adorable
Kudos to that tour bus
What a G, that's so cool :)
I can’t believe Owen Wilson, the same dude that wrote the screenplay for Rushmore (my favorite film of all time) and helped kick off Wes Anderson’s directing career also gave life to both everyone’s favorite little gay cowboy AND a sexy talking car.
and then Loki's boyfriend (source: me and the rest of the fanbase) in Loki
which sexy car there's two

Its amazing how so many people agree that Jed and Octavius are in love. And that they're the best enemies to lovers trope
I didn’t know what gay was when as I kid and even I, in a conservative republican household in southern Texas, was CONVINCED that they were in love because that’s how my aunt and uncle acted around each other.
This movie series proves its not that hard to get good actors that are the same ethnicity as the characters they play
@@MrStGeorgeIllawarra however he IS of egyptian ethnicity. there are people born in america whose parents are from other countries and have lineage in other countries, race and ethnicity /=/ nationality

@@MrStGeorgeIllawarra there's a huge difference between "great grandad came over" and someone like rami malek, whose parents are themselves immigrants. he was raised egyptian. besides, that's not even the relevant bit because the thing here is that he is actually physically a good choice to play an egyptian character instead of some white guy.
my partner LOVES Jedtavius with all their heart. they are the one who truly opened my eyes to the ship, and made me realize i am nothing more than a gay little cow man
Awww, how sweet^^ Wish you two all the happiness :)

Jedtavius is just ✨✨
“Me as a 8 year old with Jedtavius as my subconscious OTP before I even knew what shipping was” is not what I was expecting to suddenly and violently remember on this Wednesday night 12 years later.
I legitimately forgot there was a third movie in this franchise
One better than me, I somehow didn’t know it was a trilogy lol
If I watched the third one I don't remember
theres gonna be a fourth, idk why they made a fourth the third was enough
I didnt even know i loved those movies as an kid and i still do
dawg i wasn’t even aware of its existence 😭 my brother and i used to watch the first two RELIGIOUSLY but somehow we never came to own the third one
"Smile my boy. It's sunrise," was the best way to end this video. RIP Robin Williams
remember as a young kid, maybe 6 ish i think, my dad showed me night at the museum, safe to say it had me in a chokehold. and as this young kid i immediately gained an attachment to jed and octavius but i didn’t know gay people existed, i just liked watching the funny small men drive a car, a few years down the line and it hit me that holy fucking shit they’re gay and in love.
i think i must just get attached to queer subtext because i did the exact same thing with finn and poe from the star wars sequels and again it hit me a few years later, holy shit they’re gay
on another note i have to applaud the movies for casting poc to play poc roles, fucking incredible
I was fucking obsessed with this movies when I was little especially second part,I quoted it all the time and loved Jed and octodaddy ,after years I finally realised that it was first gay couple that I shipped ever

genuinely the average fic quality for that pairing is the highest out of any fandom i’ve in except for maybe good omens. don’t get me wrong a fair portion of em are shite but its skewed by the fact that there are so many fucking outstanding ones. generally the funnier the media, the better quality fics you will get.

Admittedly, those last two scenes wouldn't have half the impact or sincerity that they do in the hands of any other actor. To your memory great funny man.
I was personally obsessed with the villains in the 2nd movie and I'm surprised nobody talked about that . The trio /Napoléon /Al Capone/Ivan the Terrible with Kahmunrah was perfect
IT WASS although it was so so so awkward in my 8th grade history class as people kept glancing around when they were on screen 😭
just finished watching it. yeaaash....they're not the brightest which would count as historically inaccurate but it's also not like they had the best weapons at their disposal. anyway, either way I'm accepting it. going to watch NATM3 soon and complete the trilogy.
oh, and on the contrary, NOT a fan of Amelia Earhart and the whole relationship with Larry in this. of course, it gets strange as she is an actual historical figure and a real person who lived...and also a wax figurine in this movie. in fact, my bigger question is why Rebecca was not made the deuteragonist in this film...? If she was let in on the secret, and if she's such a big history geek, wouldn't she put aside time to get to know the characters at the museum and become friends with them just as much as Larry is? Why isn't she the deuteragonist, she's perfect for it! and also, she would make a far better fit for a love interest for Larry than Amelia, even if they could just be friends.
"Smile my boy, it's sunrise"
makes me cry every time because I know this is one of Robin Williams' last lines in a movie he's been in before he died
U unlocked my memories of the "boom boom fire powaaa" thing being like everywhere when that movie came out, thanks for that
Oh my god same
So I looked up the ship 'Jedtavius'....
I don't regret it...omg I'm in tears it is so beautiful
I have been alive for 28 years and I didn't know that Paul Rudd is in Night at the Museum until today
and he hasn’t aged a day since then lmao
Do I cry every single time Robin Williams is on screen in these movies cuz I miss him so much? Yeah. Yeah I do.
I love how we all collectively agreed that jedtavius is canon and best couple
The fact that I watched this movie series over and over again for the cowboy and Roman scenes should have been a sign
Those two awakened like five different fic preferences in me
I remember going to see the final movie in theatre with my Mom because these movies were one of my main fixation as a kid, that ending made me fucking sob
not mentioning kamunrah in night at the museum 2 is a crime, he freaking carried that entire film 😩
The NATM movies are a national treasure and should be protected
When I watched this movie with my family and my mother literally said "They are such good friends, aren't they?" and "The power of friendship always wins." and a bunch of other stuff like this. Only now, as I stumbled on this video, I realized why she insisted on this so much.
"Smile my boy, it's sunrise"
Me: *crying because Robin Williams was such a gd treasure and a big part of my childhood and I refuse to forget him*
after rewatching this movie, I got two ideas.
1. A fanfic idea
2. an ASMR idea
so yeah, 5 stars
The Lego Batman mention made me realize I'd love to see a letterboxd review video on the Lego films.
Octavius and Jedadiah are gay icons. They deserve all the happiness
Jedtavius is the best thing ever
Definitely
For sure
You know that one ship that you don’t realize it’s a ship for YEARS of watching a franchise build up popularity and become an iconic piece of media Jedediah X Octavius was exactly that since Night In The Museum literally came out The year I was born 2006 I did not understand the True Chemistry between these amazing characters and as we got more in 2009 and 2014 things still didn’t add up for me but now to this day I am more educated and better understand The true points in this relationship and I Love It their scenes with each other the way that they care about each other just always deserves to be talked out I feel like not counting this is representation of LGBTQ+ would be an insult in fact I believe this was the first time I was influenced by the enemies to lovers trope to this day I eat up this trope like saucy spaghetti this will always be one of my favorite ships til the day I die because their actual relationship development is so worth watching the all movies the whole way through and a great example of a healthy relationship between two different areas I feel like if my kids must ever ask me what does it mean for a man to love another man i’m showing them all three of these movies as an example
Hey I was born in 2006 too and it is a CRIME hardly anyone has watched the third movie. The third movie was actually so good and, most importantly, it has the tiny gay men. I love the tiny men.

Nah but fr, when I was a kid I was 100% sure the Roman and the Cowboy were gay for each other and I didn't even know exactly what gay meant
Jedtavius I swear helped my shipping heart grow to the full size that it is today, I love them ❤
Also Ludicolo you are right and should say it because I have ALWAYS unironically wished Crystal the Monkey got an Oscar for her performance as Dexter in this. She sometimes carried the films on her tiny back!

robin william at the end 😭 he'll always be the genie, idc what anyone says otherwise
I don't know why but that one scene in the first movie where one of the cavemen was outside of the museum and the sun started to rise and he looked at Ben Stiller while crumbling to dust will forever make me emotional and sad. He deserved better
BILL HADER IN A BLONDE WIG BILL HADER IN A BLONDE WIG
When the hell did I comment this?
*reads the parenthesis in the title*
As it should be.
Oh my gosh this movie was my entire childhood this is gold
Oh my god I could infodump for HOURS about these movies!!! Especially Jedtavius: those two were my firstship, which is something that my brain, when it was assigning levels of importance to fandom concepts, decided is Very Important, which is why I use it as one word to denote that it's its own term. Like, to me, a firstship is the kind of thing you swear oaths on. However, it's important to note that if you feel that your first-ever ship is kind of garbage in hindsight, you can just ignore that one completely. To me, a firstship is the first pairing of characters that becomes, and remains, important to you.
Anyway, thank you so much for making this video. Seeing Jedtavius content in the wild will always make my day.
YES! I had a feeling you were going to do this!
Also, Jedtavius forever.
We need a whole movie with just the lovers, NGL you either want to have a relationship like theirs or be their adopted child that is somehow even smaller than them
Knowing this was last (or 2nd to last I don’t remember) of Robin Williams performances breaks my heart in ways theres no words for.
RIP to the funniest man ever. 🕯
I ship Teddy Roosevelt and Sacagawea. Teddy was a man of the earth and not afraid of anything and Sacagawea was a brave woman ready for adventure and at peace in the wilderness. They are the outdoorsy couple that blogs about camping in the Rockies for months while living off the land.
Roosevelt infamously hated Native Americans and Sacagawea was a kidnapped child bride who died at 20. THIS COMMENT IS NOT IT.. y’all should be ashamed of yourselves
@@hhh1234h BIG FUCKING AGREE!! people need to separate how the characters were represented in this movie and other fictional media vs. what they were actually like. Very weird to ship two real life historical figures, not to mention two that are just horrifically unfit for one another.
😬😬😬😬
@@akihayakawalikerWell you see, In the third movie Teddy admits to having the self-consciousness that he is literally just a plastic mannequin of a great figure and I feel that Sacagawea would have this consciousness too. So although the exhibits are programmed with the intelligence of their historical counterparts I think their memories and experiences only goes up to the moment in time their meant to depict in their sculptures. E.g If Teddy's sculpture was of Teddy Roosevelt when he was 21, he would only have the knowledge and personality of a 21 year old Teddy Roosevelt. Further information about their figure was probably found through the information available in the museum. And there's also the possibility that the exhibits only believe what the curators intend to represent, e.g Atilla would be framed in the museum as this great and feared warrior and when his exhibit comes to life it reflects that aspect.
And if the museum only painted Teddy Roosevelt as a grand and wise leader, as they probably did, then it's possible that's literally all Teddy is personality-wise and so he lacks the negatives that the actual Teddy Roosevelt had.
TLDR: It's not a romance between 2 actual historical figures, it's a romance between 2 plastic mannequins that only know and exhibit the basics of their figure's personality and knowledge.
How the magic in The Night Of The Museum works is quite vague and open to so many interpretations but I hoped that helped.
1:19 The fact that he was one of my first crushes (though no one will understand that pain) 😭💀
7:21 "Does Rami Malek turn back into a corpse every morning" yeah. he does. There are horrifying implications of this film series. Like there's kind of an understanding that the wax figures, while representative of people who were living, they are their own person. But rami malek is an actual mummy...like an actual corpse...is he himself? Is he actually alive when the tablet brings them back? Does he bleed? What happens when the body rots away completely? What is going on with the lore of this series? What happens when the tablet drives by a cemetery, which i think they did in the background shots of one of the films, are those people alive in their coffins until morning?! What was rami malek's tomb like when they discovered the tablet? Did he have a normal burial or was it modified because they knew the tablet would bring him back to life? Was he stuck in the sarcophagus for 5000 years??? Why didn't rami malek continue to be pharaoh even after death...the tablet just brings him back to life at night he could have still ruled? Was he murdered and prevented from coming back to life by his evil brother from the second movie? The implications.....
