Kids today do know what hip hop is. Something that is loved by many will constantly change and evolve. If u call this true hip hop then I will say this. True hip hop was done in the Bronx, in the park just after dark in the mid 70s to mid 80s. All the studio recordings that came after isn’t pure hip hop because u took it out of the open fresh air environment and taken into a studio session. Kid n play are hip hop no doubt, but to say kids today won’t know what true hip hop is is crazy because what I experienced as a kid was Eric b and rakim etc. but it was still studio recordings. Not hip hop parties out in the street making music right there in front of you. That’s what hip hop is according to the ones who invented it.
Damn they still sound good! Ain't nothing like the 80s/90s. I'll trade my smartphone & all this new technology if I could be a 80s kid/90s teen again. I had best time of my life back then....the 2000s don't even compare
Even in their 50's Kid N Play brought the energy and had the crowd hyped! That is just really cool and impressive to see. These guys always rapped with positive messages - no glorifying drugs or guns - that's why they're still healthy and that's why they still got it today. That was a terrific performance!
